Vinyl Flooring Reviews

The scratch-resistance factor was what appealed to me about this floor, and it has really held to its word! My dogs run around like crazy, and so far, there's no sign of their claws on our new floor. Mannington is perfect, and it is so beautiful!

During our kitchen renovation, we took a wall down between our kitchen and living room and replaced the old laminate and carpeting. Everyone raves about the look of the flooring, and it is also very easy to care for. We also plan on replacing the carpeting in our family room.

We recently purchased a new house that needed new flooring. We looked at many different products and decided to try TritonCORE Pro in Plymouth Hickory. The floors looks INCREDIBLE!!! We get so many compliments from visitors on our new floors and everyone asks where we got them. Many people don't even know that it isn't real hardwood. I would 10/10 recommend this flooring to anyone interested. It made our home look like a completely different house. We paid professional installers to install the floors right over the top of the old tile to save us money and it looks fantastic. I can't say enough good things about this flooring and the customer service. You will not be disappointed! THANK YOU FlooringInc.

Vinyl Flooring FAQs

You asked – we answered! Below are the most common questions we get asked about vinyl flooring.

Vinyl is made of the synthetic material polyvinyl chloride (PVC). In most vinyl flooring, you can also find fiberglass and plasticizers. These synthetic materials work to create a multi-layered flooring that can withstand everyday wear and tear effectively and keep your space looking great for years to come.
Vinyl flooring has many advantages, starting with a wide range of affordable tile, plank, and sheet options. With advanced technology, most vinyl flooring is ultra-durable and either highly water-resistant or 100% waterproof. Both of these features make vinyl floors an excellent choice for busy homeowners and those with kids and pets.
In general, most vinyl flooring is pet-friendly. We have various FloorScore certified vinyl flooring that will keep you and your loved ones safe indoors. Our pet-friendly vinyl options are stain- and scratch-resistant, making them the perfect choice for those with young pets.
There is no set guideline as to how long vinyl floors will last. A good rule of thumb is the thicker the wear layer, the more resilient your vinyl floors. Factors like foot traffic and application can significantly impact the longevity of your vinyl floors. The great news is that most of our vinyl flooring comes with extended warranties and can last anywhere from 5 to 25 years with proper installation, care, and maintenance. Check with the manufacturer for individual product specifications.
Some vinyl flooring will come with an underlayment attached. If your product does not come with an attached underlayment, we recommend purchasing one. Underlayment has sound-dampening properties, protects your subfloor, and makes it more comfortable underfoot. Cork and foam are popular underlayment choices for vinyl flooring, but rubber may cause staining to the subfloor.
Vinyl flooring is highly durable. When purchasing vinyl flooring, remember that the thicker the wear layer, the more durable the product will be. The wear layer protects the flooring from scratches, but hardly any flooring is truly 100% scratchproof. Factors like pets, lifestyle, and foot traffic may impact scratches on vinyl flooring over time.
Cleaning vinyl flooring is easy. Start by sweeping away any dust, food, or dirt particles. Next, with a wringed-out mop, remove any leftover stains and harsher substances. We do not recommend drenching your vinyl flooring in water, using a steam mop, or using harsh cleaners.
You can install vinyl floors in several ways. We offer several DIY-friendly installation options such as interlocking, peel and stick, glue-free, and loose-lay. However, for permanent installations for commercial applications, we recommend the glue-down method for your vinyl flooring.
Vinyl flooring looks similar to laminate, but the big difference is in the construction and features. Vinyl flooring is more water-resistant than laminate, and therefore a better choice for a kitchen, bathroom, or basement floor. Laminate, however, is typically less expensive than vinyl. Both floors are durable and come in several looks, colors, and thicknesses.

Waterproof Vinyl Flooring
If you plan on installing your vinyl flooring in a moisture-prone environment, we recommend going with a 100% waterproof option. Vinyl vs. Laminate Flooring: What’s the Difference?

How does vinyl flooring compare to laminate? While both are durable and affordable wood-look floors, the two are built differently and contain different features.

  • Application: Vinyl flooring can go anywhere, including bathrooms, kitchens, and basements. However, we do not recommend all laminates for moisture-prone areas.
  • Moisture resistance: Vinyl material is 100% waterproof from bottom to top, whereas laminate is water-resistant from top to bottom and can still be damaged if sitting in water for a long time.
  • DIY-friendly: Both vinyl and laminate are DIY-friendly. However, for the glue-down method, we recommend a professional installer for both vinyl and laminate.
  • Resilient: Overall, vinyl and laminate are both resilient floor options. By purchasing vinyl flooring with a thicker wear layer, you can better mitigate the scrapes and scratches that often appear with everyday wear and tear. Laminate is an equally great choice but can be damaged a bit easier if it is not waterproof.

Vinyl vs. Linoleum Flooring: Which is Better?

Wait, linoleum and vinyl aren’t the same? While the styles of the old days may have looked similar, today’s vinyl products look far different from the old-school linoleum. But looks aren’t everything – these two floors are constructed differently and will perform differently.

  • Application: Vinyl comes with more style and color options and will not fade over time, unlike linoleum.
  • Use: Linoleum is not recommended for moisture-prone areas, whereas many options in vinyl flooring are 100% waterproof, making it an excellent floor for any room of the house.
  • Maintenance: Vinyl flooring is low maintenance, requiring no more than a basic cleaning. On the other hand, linoleum flooring needs additional polishing to keep floors looking fresh.
  • Comfort: Both linoleum and vinyl flooring offer a comfortable surface for joints, compared to a hard floor surface, like tile. Also, both options feature insulating and sound absorbent properties.
