Installation Instructions

Outdoor Installation

  1. Surface Preparation:

    • Remove Existing Vegetation: Clear all grasses, sods, mulches, and debris from the designated area. For landscaping around trees, shrubs, flowers, light poles, or utilities, mark these areas and ensure to leave space around tree bases.
    • Cap Sprinklers: Cap any unused sprinklers at the pipe level to prevent leaks. Relocate and mark electrical sprinklers and wiring, moving them inward by 6-8 inches to avoid damage during installation.

  2. Base Construction:

    • Install Decomposed Granite (DG): Spread a 3-inch layer of DG, a mixture of gravel and sand, to facilitate drainage. Level and compact the base using vibrating, tamping, and rolling techniques until flat and stable. Wet the base to help it settle.
    • Optional Turf Pad: If using a turf pad, cut a hole in the base to match the size and depth of the pad.

  3. Weed Cloth (If Applicable):

    • Lay Weed Cloth: Roll out weed cloth to prevent weeds from growing through the turf base. Overlap edges by 6 inches and secure with flat-head nails. Trim to fit with a 1/4” border, avoiding deep nail placement to prevent dimpling.

  4. Turf Installation:

    • Align Turf: Use a straight edge or perpendicular edges to align the turf. Temporarily secure the edges with nails while adjusting the turf.
    • Cut and Fit: Over-cut the turf by one inch along the edges for a proper fit, utilizing the excess for the tucking process.
    • Seam Turf: Cut the turf in an S-shape using a seaming tool to avoid visible seams. Install nails every 6 inches along edges, driving them 3/4 of the way down. Use 6-inch U-nails every 6 inches for seams, ensuring they are level and hidden.
    • Tuck and Brush: Tuck edges against hardscapes or borders using a wonder bar for a clean finish. Brush the turf against the grain to lift the fibers. Apply and spread infill or sand evenly to support the blades and add weight. Brush again to settle the infill and stabilize the turf. Remove any excess debris.

Indoor Installation

  1. Surface Preparation:

    • Clean and Level: Ensure the surface is clean, level, and dry. Suitable surfaces include concrete, dusting concrete, gypcrete, pressure-treated decking, wood, or backer board.

  2. Dry Lay and Alignment:

    • Dry Lay: Unroll the turf to check fit and alignment. Refer to the back of the turf for manufacturing details to determine fiber direction.

  3. Adhesive Application:

    • Apply Adhesive: Use adhesive or double-sided tape on the surface. If using a turf pad, install it with tape or glue.
    • Lay Turf: Position the turf and apply a bead of seam sealer to all seams.
    • Roll: Use a 75 lb. weighted roller to press down the turf across its width and length
      .
  4. Curing:

    • Allow to Cure: Keep the installation in dry conditions for 72 hours to ensure the adhesive cures properly.

  2. Stains and Blemishes:

    • Animal Urine: Use a mixture of white distilled vinegar and water (equal parts). Flush thoroughly and vacuum any excess solution.

  3. Gum Removal:
