About Protective Wall Padding

Wall pads are protective coverings that you can install in areas like gymnasiums and fitness gyms, where you can expect a lot of movement and potential impacts. Our wall mats come in a variety of popular colors to match school colors or any aesthetic.

This impact-resistant foam wall padding is 2" - 3” thick for optimal shock-absorption, to protect athletes and the walls at the same time. It’s also very easy to install and features a durable vinyl casing that’s simple to sanitize.

Wall Padding Uses

Outdoor Wall Padding

If you have an outdoor field, wall padding is the perfect solution to keep athletes safe when they’re running and have the potential to collide with a wall or fencing. They’re built to handle the elements, with impact-resistant foam, a moisture-resistant board, and 19oz waterproof vinyl coating.

Our outdoor wall pads are highly mildew and fungus resistant, and easy to wipe down to keep them clean. The vinyl casing also includes UV additives that keep color from fading, so your team logo and colors will look great for many games to come.

Custom Wall Padding Graphics

If you want to customize your gym wall pads with your team logo or school mascot, now you can. We offer digital printing that covers complete top to bottom designs in multiple colors.

It’s important to note that if you purchase a design, the price is for the whole pad, and not the size of the design. That means if you get a 4x8 pad with a small image on it, you still pay the 4x8 sqft price for the image. So you might as well make the most of your space and order a larger design.

Wall Padding Construction

Wall padding is made to withstand the challenges of any commercial/home gym, court, or playing field. But you don’t have to just take our word for it. The materials backed by testing and certification. The foam core meets ASTM 2440 standards, and the padding can contribute to LEED certification points.

Let’s get into the specifics about how indoor and outdoor wall pads are made.

Indoor Padding:

To achieve this durability for indoor wall pads, 2” of impact-rated cross-link polyethylene foam is encased in PVC vinyl. This combination can handle impacts without getting torn or punctured easily. All of that is supported with 7/16" OSB wood backing that is securely fastened to the wall.

Outdoor Padding:

Outdoor wall pads are made to last even after extended exposure to sun, rain, and snow. The 3" polyurethane foam absorbs impact and is backed by a 23/32" Georgia Pacific Drymax strand board. Then it’s all encased in 19oz waterproof coated vinyl for a weather-resistant surface.

How to Install Wall Padding

You can install wall pads in two different ways: either with nails or clips.

If you want to install your wall pads using nails, it’s pretty simple. You will nail the wall pads to the wall, spacing the nails 1" apart and the top and bottom. This is a permanent installation.

For the clip installation, you use z-clips, a.k.a. Zip clips. One part of the clip attaches to the wall, and the other part attaches to the wall padding, and you simply hook them together! This installation is semi-permanent, so you can remove the pads if necessary.

The z-clip option is more expensive, but it’s worth it since it’s more DIY-friendly and flexible.

Wall Padding Maintenance

This wall padding is antibacterial treated, UV treated, and mildew and fungal resistant for simple upkeep. The vinyl casing makes each mat puncture-resistant and nonporous, so no liquids can penetrate the surface of the mat and cause staining.

To keep this padding clean if it appears dirty, all you have to do is wipe them down with your preferred surface cleaner.
