Customer Reviews

Curious to know why playground flooring is so popular? See what customers are saying about it:

Jamboree Playground Tiles

“These playground tiles were even better than I expected. They are high quality and comfortable to walk on. And it’s such a relief to know that my daughter will be safe if she falls.”

- Carrie from Fort Meyers, FL

Safe-Play Tiles

“I’ve only had the tiles installed for about a week, but I can already tell this surface is much easier to clean than the previous rubber chips. The leaves and pine needles blow off easily with my electric sweeper/blower and it’s also easy to wash everything off with the hose.”

- Eric from Denver, CO

Playground Swing Mats

“Prior to the swing mats in our community park, we were constantly raking and filling the holes and exposed weed mat caused by swing use. These mats are heavy and their weight prevents movement from high winds and is a theft deterrent. We have been delighted with this purchase.”

- Joe from Post Falls, ID

Types of Playground Flooring

Playground Tiles

Playground tiles are the most popular safety surfacing we sell. These tiles come in many different colors and thicknesses. Because playground tiles are porous, they allow water to easily penetrate through the floor, ensuring a dry playing surface even after a heavy rain. Installing playground tiles is very easy and can be done by any weekend warrior. Maintaining your playground tiles is also a breeze. All you need is a blower and a garden hose or broom to bring them back to their glory.

Rubber Mulch

Rubber mulch is one of the most economical playground flooring options. It’s made to replicate the old wood chips that were used back in the day that would give you splinters. And how we all hate splinters! Fortunately, there’s no risk of that with rubber mulch.

The benefits of playground mulch are that it is environmentally friendly and it does not have to be replaced on a yearly basis. Also, animals will not see it as a giant litter box, which is a win for all of us. Rubber playground mulch is very easy to install and maintain, and don’t worry, it will not blow away in high winds or when cleaned.

Playground Turf

Playground turf grass often mimics real grasses that are found throughout the United States. For example, artificial grass that looks like bermuda grass is popular on the West Coast.

Playground turf is super UV stable and also heat and frost resistant. It typically has a higher face weight and more durable fibers than other types of turf. Both of these factors make playground turf extremely durable for the playground.

To achieve a proper fall height rating, you’ll need to install turf padding underneath the surface.

Playground Mats

Our rubber playground mats come in various sizes and thicknesses and have been designed to serve different functions around your playground. The mats we carry are high quality and very heavy, which is great when it comes to preventing theft.

Swing and slide playground mats are made to protect the flooring that is underneath swings or slides, where a lot of landing and scuffing can occur. These mats will help to protect your playground flooring surface and ensure your playground looks great for a long time.

Most playground mats don’t have a fall height rating, but we do carry a rated mat if that’s a priority for you.

Court Flooring

We offer a wide range of court tiles that are great for basketball, tennis, volleyball, inline hockey, shuffleboard and much more. Many sport tiles can be easily installed both indoors and out.

Our outdoor court tiles feature holes in the plastic flooring that allow water to easily pass through the surface. This ensures that the court stays as slip-resistant as possible. They’re also UV-stable, so the vibrant colors you choose won’t be as likely to fade over time.

Our indoor sport tiles will allow balls to bounce and roll as needed. They come in a variety of colors that you can mix and match. The plastic polypropylene design is built to withstand the shock of high-impact sports. For even more shock absorption, you can pair this flooring with a rubber underlayment.

Important to Note: Fall Height Rating

Fall height ratings for playground flooring communicate how far someone can fall without sustaining any serious injuries. Commercial and residential playgrounds have different fall height requirements.

For a safe playground experience, make sure you do your research on the fall height rating you need for your space. Below you’ll find the various ratings for different playground uses.

General fall ratings:

  • 1.5-2’ fall height: residential playground
  • 6’ fall height: commercial playground

It is important to note: these are the standard ratings, but playground flooring safety ratings vary by product, so make sure to check out the specs on the specific product you are looking at to ensure it will be safe.

How to Install Playground Flooring

One big factor in determining the flooring you want is the installation method. Some playground flooring is easier to install than others. If you’re big into DIY projects, you’re going to be looking for something simple. However, if you intend to hire a professional no matter what, you’ll definitely have more options.

General fall ratings:

  • Playground Tiles: Depending on the thickness, tiles will have an interlocking installation or a glue-free method. While it can be tricky, you can do this yourself.
  • Rubber Mulch: To install mulch, create a “box” around your playground area to contain the mulch and fill it to the desired depth. Rake and compact the mulch for even coverage.
  • Playground Turf: Spread landscape fabric and padding before covering it with the turf. Secure the edges with nails or staples and fill the surface with infill.
