Installation Instructions

Outdoor Installation

  1. Site Preparation:

    • Clear the Area: Remove all grass, sod, mulch, and debris from the installation site. Mark areas around trees, shrubs, or utilities and leave adequate space around tree bases.
    • Cap and Relocate Sprinklers: Cap unused sprinklers at the pipe level to prevent leaks. Relocate electrical sprinklers and wiring inward by 6-8 inches from hardscapes to avoid damage.

  2. Base Installation:

    • Apply Decomposed Granite (DG): Spread a 3-inch layer of DG (a mixture of gravel and sand) to ensure proper drainage. Level and compact the base by vibrating, tamping, and rolling. Wet the base to aid in settling.
    • Turf Pad (Optional): If using a turf pad, cut a hole in the base to match the pad's size and depth.

  3. Install Weed Cloth (If Needed):

    • Lay and Secure Weed Cloth: Overlap edges by 6 inches and secure with flat-head nails. Trim to fit the landscape with a 1/4” border gap, avoiding deep nail placement to prevent dimpling.

  4. Turf Installation:

    • Align and Secure Turf: Use straight or perpendicular edges for alignment. Temporarily secure edges with nails. Over-cut edges by one inch for proper fit.
    • Seam the Turf: Use a seaming tool to cut the turf in an S-shape to minimize seam visibility. Secure edges with nails every 6 inches, driving them 3/4 of the way down. Use 6-inch U-nails every 6 inches for seam security, ensuring they are level and concealed by grass blades.
    • Tuck and Brush: Tuck turf edges against hardscapes with a wonder bar for a clean finish. Brush against the grain to lift fibers, apply infill or sand evenly, and brush again to integrate infill and remove excess debris.

Indoor Installation

  1. Prepare the Surface:

    • Ensure Cleanliness: The surface must be level, clean, and dry. Suitable surfaces include concrete, dusting concrete, gypcrete, pressure-treated decking, wood, or backer board.

  2. Dry Lay and Align:

    • Dry Lay: Unroll and align the turf according to the backstamped fiber direction details.

  3. Apply Adhesive:

    • Adhesive Application: Use double-sided tape or glue to secure the turf. If adding a turf pad, install it over the base with tape or glue.
    • Lay Turf and Seal: Position the turf and apply seam sealer to all seams. Roll the turf with a 75 lb. weighted roller across its width and length.

  4. Curing:

    • Allow to Cure: Keep the installation dry for 72 hours to ensure proper adhesive curing.

Maintenance

  1. Regular Cleaning:

    • Sweeping: Regularly sweep to remove loose dirt, dust, and debris.

  2. Stains and Spills:

    • Cleaning Solution: Use warm water and mild detergent for stains. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
    • Pet Waste: Clean promptly with a vinegar and water mixture, then rinse and remove excess solution.
  3. Gum Removal:

    • Chewing Gum: Use dry ice or refrigerant packets to harden and remove gum.

  4. Matting:

    • Brush: Use a synthetic brush to lift matted grass fibers. Avoid metal or wire brushes.
