Easy Maintenance for 4'x6' Premium Mats

  • Vacuum loose dust, dirt, or debris from the rubber surface as needed.
  • Occasionally damp mop the rubber mats with a mild soap and water mixture. We recommend using Dawn dish detergent and/or Tide laundry detergent.

Note: Avoid using solvent or oil-based cleaners like Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy's Oil Soap, WD40, or paint thinner, as they can damage the flooring over time.

I am wondering if these mats are non-slip. I am hoping to put one on a hardwood floor as a workout mat and am worried it may slip if I am doing cardio.

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats are non-slip. Due to the weight of the mat and it being made of rubber allows it to stay in place for most exercises. In very extreme cases would the mat move.
What is the difference between the Extreme mats and the Premium mats? I'm looking to cover my garage floor for Crossfit type workouts that include dropping weights.

Our 4' x 6' Premium mats are a vulcanized mat while our Extreme Mats are not. Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats are some of our strongest mats and are virtually trued mats meaning you can put multiple mats together to create a flooring surface. Our Extreme Mat is not trued, so they are not all the same size and are not finished on the bottom. Because they are not finished on the bottom, you will have thickness variances with these mats. This will make it difficult to put these tiles together as a flooring surface. Both are great for CrossFit exercises and would be great as stand-alone mats. The Premium Mats would be the number one choice for a full floor. Quality wise the Premium Mats are the better choice as they are stronger and have less of a smell compared to the Extreme Mats.
I bought the black rolls but I'm not sure which side should face up. The shinier side or the more matte, darker, less slick side?

The top of our 4' x 6' Premium Mats is shinier than the bottom of the mat. You can use either side as the top surface, but the true top is the shinier side.
I am planning to convert my basement into a table tennis room. I have carpet in my basement. Can I place the 4' x 6' Premium Mats on the carpet and will it provide stable support and not move/buckle with the weight of the player. Also, is the rubber mat too sticky on the shoes that will prevent lateral movement that is needed in table tennis play?

You can install our Premium Mats over carpet. Our rubber mats are very durable and are commonly used in commercial gyms. With these being vulcanized, which is the strongest version of rubber flooring, your rubber flooring will not buckle under the weight of the table. As these are rubber mats, they do have a very high coefficient of friction. You will be able to do lateral movements with ease and not feel like you are going to get tripped up due to the friction. Because these mats have great slip resistance, if something were to be spilled, you won't have to worry about someone slipping and hurting themselves.
I'm assuming that the rubber mats are water proof, is this correct? Also, I am considering using it outdoors. Other than fading, I was wandering how this product would hold up?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats are water resistant not waterproof. These mats will fade in direct sunlight, but other than that they will hold up just fine outdoors.
If placed on a level concrete floor, will these Premium Mats lay perfectly flat (without sides or corners curling up)?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats will lay flat no matter how flat the subfloor is. The flatter the subfloor the flatter your flooring will be. These mats are constructed to not curl at the edges and corners.
Can these mats be installed on top of residential carpeting?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats can be installed over residential carpet. If you are installing multiple mats over a high pile carpet, due to depression of the pad under the carpet, there is potential for a trip hazard to form.
Is there sealant that can be used to make these mats more liquid resistant? If so, could you please recommend a product?

Do the premium mats stain carpet?

Our Premium Mats typically do not stain carpet. If you do have a light colored carpet and are worried about the mats staining the carpet, we recommend laying a plastic sheet between the mats and carpet to ensure no staining occurs.
What is the difference between the 8mm one and the 3/8'' one? Is it that the thicker one offers more protection?
So why you may want to choose the thicker Premium Mat is due to a few things. If you are matching up to another floor, you may want to use the thicker mat as not to have to add a transition piece. Another reason to go with a thicker mat is to help reduce noise transmission between floors. The thicker the mat, the more sound transmission it can mitigate. The last reason a person would go with the thicker mat is to add some protection for their subfloor, especially if the subfloor is plywood. The thicker mat will help to absorb the shock better from dropping weights and will diffuse it more to prevent damage.
I am a manager of an aquatic Center and looking for a mat for exercise instructors to use while on the pool deck. I am looking for a mat that is non slip which it seems like this is but how will it hold up in an aquatic environment?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats are made from rubber which is more slip resistant when wet. So using these mats as flooring in an aquatic center would be the perfect fit. What's the difference between the 4x6 Premium Mats and the 4x6 Premium Mega Mats? I am using for a garage gym floor, so I will need to butt a few mats together to cover the area.

The main difference between our 4' x 6' Premium Mats and our 4' x 6' Mega Mats is the thickness. Our Premium Mats are 3/8" thick whereas our Premium Mega Mats are a 1/2" thick. Both mats are non-porous and are vulcanized. They are both cut straight, so you can easily butt a few mats together to create a flooring surface. The only other difference is that the Premium Mats have a smooth surface whereas the Premium Mega Mats have a textured surface.
I want to install these Premium Mats in a locker room with a shower & toilet. Is this suitable for this type of area? Also, metal baseball cleats will be worn on it.

Our Premium Mats are a vulcanized mat, so they can be installed virtually anywhere, so they can be installed in a locker room with a shower and toilet. Since these rubber mats are vulcanized, they are non-porous, meaning the will not harbor any mold, mildew, or fungal growth. They are also very easy to clean and maintain and are very easy to sanitize. With these mats being vulcanized, they are much more durable than standard rubber flooring and would be able to handle baseball cleats on them with ease.
What is the difference between the Premium Mats and the Premium Extreme Mats?

There are many differences between the Premium Mats and the Premium Extreme Mats. One of the first differences is the thickness, the Premium Mats are 8mm and 3/8" thick, whereas, the Premium Extreme Mats are 3/4" thick. The surface of the Premium mats is smooth, whereas, the Premium Extreme Mats have a textured top. The last difference is the size of the mats. The Premium Extreme Mats are a bit smaller than 4' x 6' at 47" x 71", whereas, the Premium Mats are 4' x 6'.
I will need 4 of these in my garage for space I have for a garage gym. Will I need to attach them with something, so they don’t slip apart? I want it to be like one piece of flooring.
To connect multiple Premium Mats together, we recommend using our Double Sided Carpet Tape. You would place this tape around the edge of the mats and along the seams, and it will attach the mats to your subfloor.
Are theses mats good for jumping rope? Do they provide enough cushion and are they wide enough? Can i purchase a larger size?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats would be perfect for jumping rope and would provide plenty of room and shock absorbency to do so comfortably. Our Premium Mats only come in the 4' x 6' size, but you can put multiple mats together to create a larger workout space. If you have sensitive joints, these mats can be a little hard on them, so we do offer a mat that is very shock absorbent. Our Impact Mats are 4' x 6' in size and are very easy to roll up and out. They are less dense than our normal mats helping to protect joints better when performing high-impact exercises.
We have new laminate flooring in our community gym. Would this mat be strong enough that if weights fell on it that it would protect the flooring? We are looking to avoid cracking or denting. The thicker mats pose a tripping hazard for us due to no slope edges.

You can adhere our 4' x 6' Premium Mats with double sided tape or with adhesive. For permanent installations we recommend adhesive, and for temporary installations, we recommend double-sided tape. There are two ways to install these mats in a full room. You can lay them in a brick pattern or a monolithic pattern.
Do these mats roll at all? I am looking to use for my insanity workouts then roll up and store under my high couch in my living room. I not need to roll tightly, even fold in half would work. Thanks!

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats can be cut with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. These mats are re-vulcanized, so we recommend first scoring the mat, and then cutting through the mat layer by layer.
I want to turn a small carpeted bedroom on a second level of our home into a workout/yoga studio. My gym uses this type of flooring so I've already decided for my needs it's a good medium between too soft carpet and too hard wood/tile. The problem is the current carpet is not firm enough for workout needs so my initial plan was to pull the carpet and pad out and place tiles over the wood subfloor - will I need an additional layer between the subfloor and this type of surface for best performance? I think in my gym it's layered over concrete which is not an option for me. I'm concerned about impact absorption to avoid issues with impact and/or noise, maybe even joist strain to the ceiling on the lower level during workouts. Thanks in advance! You can install our 4' x 6' Premium Mats over a wood subfloor on a second floor. These mats are vulcanized and are very shock absorbent. Sound may still transfer from floor to floor, but it will be greatly minimized.

You can use a rolling desk chair on our 4' x 6' Premium mats. These mats are smooth and sturdy and will allow a desk chair to roll around easily.
what is the difference between your "3/4" 4' x 6' Extreme Mats" and your "4' x 6' Premium Mats"? I want to just lay these in my garage for home exercise and moderate weight lifting.

There are a few differences between these two mats. First, the obvious difference is the thickness. Our Premium mats come in either an 8mm thickness or a 3/8" thickness. Our Premium Mats are vulcanized, which means they are non-porous, whereas our Extreme Mats are not. Our Extreme mats are not finished on the bottom and are not trued as well. This means, if you are installing these mats as a full floor, you will want to make sure that you install them in a brick pattern to minimize the imperfections of the flooring. Both are great for moderate weight lifting and will help protect your subfloor. Even though our Premium Mats are thinner, they are still just as durable or more durable due to the fact that they are vulcanized.
Do these mats contain toxic chemicals such as phthalates, PAHs, VOCs, etc?

If you put them on a garage floor, can you drive or park your car on them?
If you install our 4' x 6' Premium Mats in a garage you can drive a car over them. These mats are very durable and can handle the weight of a car on them without getting destroyed. The only thing you would have to worry about with these rubber mats is that if your car were to leak oil at all, the mats would start to break down over time. To prevent this, you can use one our Nitro Roll Mats or a containment mat to prevent oil from destroying the mats.
So looking to put on my concrete floor in-home gym. I'm looking primarily for it to cushion my knees when doing burpees or if doing a mountain climber. Is the 3/8" thick enough to achieve this?
Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats are thick enough to cushion your knees when doing burpees. Since these mats are vulcanized, they may not be the most comfortable choice, but they will work for this activity. If you are wanting something with a little more cushion, our Impact Mats would the mat we would recommend.
Can we do Olympic lifting on these mats? I'm worried about dropping 200lbs from overhead to the ground.

You don't have to glue our 4' x 6' Premium Mats. These mats can be loose laid. If you wanted to glue them, we recommend using a polyurethane adhesive.
Is there a way to connect the mats together -or- is there an installation video you can recommend to ensure I mitigate trip hazard during dynamic movements?

You can connect several Premium Mats together. When installing multiple rubber mats next to each other, you can use double-sided tape under the mats or you can use our Seam Sealer glue between the mats. We don't have a video showing this process specifically, but you can watch our rubber rolls install video, and it will show you how to connect multiple straight cut items together to create a virtually seamless floor.
These mats don't lock together. How are people adhering them to the floor?

If you want to glue down our Premium Mats, we recommend using a polyurethane adhesive. You can also glue the mats together with our Seam Sealer glue.
I have low pile carpet in a basement gym and would like more of a hard surface under my wall mounted fold down squat rack, wondering about two of these mats versus a sheet of plywood. I want stability for squats and deadlifts and such...we don’t “drop” weights though. Would these mats be sufficient without plywood? Will two of them need to be attached with some type of tape, so they don’t slide? Thanks!

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats can be installed over low pile carpet with ease. There is no need to add plywood. The mats usually won't slide, but depending on the types of exercises performed, could. To prevent this, we recommend adding a little double-sided tape under the mats.
Will the 4" Mat Tape you sell stick well to these mats. I've had some similar in the past and tried duct tape and it doesn't stick well.

Our 4" Mat Tape will stick to our Premium Mats, but not very well. If you want to connect two mats together, we would recommend using our Double Sided Carpet Tape. You would just place this tape over the seam of two mats to keep them together. You can choose to allow the tape to stick to both the subfloor and mats or just the mats.
Do your rubber mat products have an odor? I am asking because I know some plastics and rubber-like materials can have an intolerable odor - kind of skunky.

Our Premium Mats have less of an odor compared to most horse stall mats in the market. These mats are vulcanized and are made with premium rubber to ensure that the smell of the mats is almost non-existent. If you are sensitive to smells, we recommend mopping the mats with mild soap and water solution with a synthetic mop head. You will want to let the mat air dry, and you will want to make sure you have plenty of ventilation in the room in which the mat(s) will be used. You may have to repeat this step a few times to mitigate the rubber smell truly.
Do you recommend these mats when you desire to use an ab roller (Ab Dolly)? Looking for a mat that wheels in ab dolly do not get stuck and can roll easily.

What thickness is best for aerobic, light-weights, and spinner/treadmill?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats can be used for aerobics, light-weight workouts, and can be used under bikes and treadmills. For aerobic exercises, our Premium Mats may not be the best mats for this as they are harder underfoot than some of our other mats. If you are looking for mat that is a little more forgiving, we would recommend purchasing our 3/8" Impact Mats.
I bought four 4x6 mats to use over carpet in my basement for a workout area. They tend to move a bit, causing separation. Do you recommend taping them together? If so, with what tape?

If your Premium Mats are moving while in use, we recommend using our Double Sided Carpet Tape under the mats. You can choose to use both sides of the tape or just one side. Our tape has been formulated to work excellently with our rubber flooring.
I am converting a bedroom into a gym and need mats to go over hardwood (bamboo) floors. Will the rubber rub off onto the wood or otherwise damage it/the wood finish? Is there an underlayment you'd recommend? I'm worried about pressure from the equipment on top of the mats and warping to the wood caused by trapping moisture or preventing the wood from breathing.

You can install our 4' x 6' Premium Mats over a hardwood floor without damaging or staining it. If you were concerned with the mats damaging the flooring, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the mats to add further protection. If you are concerned about water getting under the mats, the plastic sheet will help protect the flooring and ensure water doesn't get trapped between the mats the floor. You wouldn't need an underlay under our Premium Mats. A plastic sheet would be all we recommend.
Are the premium mats good for a repair service center? Somewhat soft yet durable enough for a shop stool to roll back and forth and hold up?

You can use our 4' x 6' Premium Mats as flooring in a repair service center. These mats are vulcanized mats, meaning they are non-porous, making them very easy to clean and maintain. Since they are vulcanized, they may not be the most comfortable to stand on for long periods of time, but they are durable enough to handle rolling chairs, desks, and the like. The only thing that you would have to worry about is oil. Any oil that is spilled on the mats will need to be cleaned up right away. If oil is left on the mat for an extended period of time, the mat could start to breakdown.
Would a premium mat be suitable to put a reclining chair on to stop it from moving when my husband is transferring from his wheelchair?

You can place our 4' x 6' Premium Mats under a reclining chair. Rubber is very slip-resistant, so it should prevent or at least reduce the amount of movement that occurs when your husband is transferring from his wheelchair to the reclining chair.

Our 4'x6' Premium Mats typically don't buckle when installed as a floor, but if for some reason a mat did, you can prevent this by gluing the mat down with one of our polyurethane adhesives.
What is the difference between the Premium Mats and the 3/4" Shock Mats?

The main difference between our Premium Mats and our Shock Mats is the thickness. Other differences are the size options; the Premium Mats come in one size versus the three offered in the Shock Mats. Both mats are vulcanized, but the Shock Mats have a waffle-backed design that helps to reduce noise transmission from floor to floor and helps to reduce impact.
Will these float on water? If we used them in water, how would they hold up?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats will not float in water. Water will not affect the mats in any way, so you can use them in water as much as you desire.
Do these stain vinyl flooring? We have light flooring we want to put it over.
Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats won't stain luxury vinyl planks or tiles. That also includes waterproof vinyl flooring as well. If you are concerned that our rubber mats may stain your vinyl flooring, we recommend placing a plastic sheet between the rubber and your vinyl flooring.
Can this product be used in a commercial kitchen with a cooking line?

Our 4' x 6' Premium Mats can be used as flooring in a commercial or residential kitchen. These rubber mats are vulcanized, meaning they are non-porous, ensuring they will not harbor any harmful mold, mildew, or bacteria. Rubber mats are also very slip-resistant and more so when wet. These mats are also very easy to clean and maintain. You can use a number of the same cleaners that you currently do. We recommend not using any oil-based cleaners. The only thing that will affect the flooring is oil and grease. Over time, the oil and grease will start to break down the flooring. We recommend sealing the flooring with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer to prevent this. If you are installing multiple mats together and want to try and prevent any moisture or food from getting under the mats, we recommend using our Seam Sealer glue where the mats come together.

Yes, our 4' x 6' Premium Mats can and has been used as flooring in horse stalls. The mats are vulcanized, meaning they are non-porous and more durable than your standard horse stall mats. That means they will be easier to clean and maintain and last longer.
