  Very Happy, Almost

After searching locally and online, I decided to use Garage Flooring, Inc. as the supplier for my new garage floor. I searched their website, found a design that I liked, and placed an order for sample tiles. Happy with the samples, I placed my full order. Their custom designer tool made the order process easy. The Diamond Pattern Nitro Tiles (black, graphite and victory red) arrived quickly enough and all in good shape. The tile assembly went smoothly as I used a rubber mallet to snap the pieces together. The tiles also snap apart easily if needed. I was able to assemble the entire floor (23’ x 21’), excluding the trim, in about 6 hours. I completed the trim in about 2.5 hours. For trimming, I used a hack saw and a utility knife. I was fortunate that the width of my garage allowed for a perfect fit using full size tiles, only having to cut the right side tabs off the final row of tiles. I am really pleased with the appearance of my new floor and so far it has been easy to keep clean. However, I am not completely satisfied with the tile performance. The tiles are very sensitive to direct sunlight… within a few minutes of opening the garage door and being exposed to the sun, the tiles start to buckle. Within a few minutes of closing the door, the tiles return to their flat state. This is extremely annoying and is keeping me from rating these tiles higher.

I ordered the product using the 1-800 number and the representative was very helpful. I ordered the diamond pattern using the black and sandstone tiles. I was a little concerned by the plastic feel of the tiles as I expected them to be more rubber like. Using a compound sliding mirror saw I trimmed all the edges and corners and hooked all the tiles together. The floor came out very nice. All the pieces hooked together nicely and the finished product was solid, comfortable to walk on and not slippery. 5 stars

I am very well pleased with the results of the finished floor. Just one suggestion, insure that you leave a 1/2 inch space between the tile edge and a finished wall. Summer heat tends to make the tiles expand.

I was hoping to put down a classic linoleum tile floor in my garage but that product seems to be a thing of the past so I went with the Nitro tiles for a similar look. The tile went down quickly and easily; they are precisely uniform in size so no variations over my 600 sq ft. The material is a bit lighter than hoped considering they cost the same as ceramic but if you have cracked and uneven floors the flexible plastic is more forgiving. I recommend putting down some sound absorbing material first to quiet the rap tap tap these can produce on concrete. I used the heaviest weed blocker fabric I could find but that is still the cheapest product you could use. My only complaint is concerning the issue of heat expansion. The products website warns of this problem occurring mostly with east, west and northern exposures. I thought that didn't make a lot of sense considering a southern exposure gets the most sun overall (which is my situation). The day after the install I open my garage door and back out one of my cars and within 5 minutes of direct sunlight the flooring buckled and rose 6 inches at the entry to the garage. That also blocked the safety sensor for the garage door opener rendering it non-functional. I left a half inch of space around the perimeter for expansion as instructed but what good is that if there are vehicles etc. holding the flooring in place and preventing even movement of the tiles. As it stands now I can't use the garage with the door open until the afternoon when the sun has moved sufficiently. It's now winter here in Central Florida and I'm worried about what problems will arise when the room temperature in the garage goes up 50 degrees in the shade. I may have to install an air conditioner just to maintain the Nitro floor. In the mean time I'll be installing roll down shades outside the door to block the sun. Nitro does sell an expansion section but you would have to put those down every few feet or between every vehicle to be viable.

  Amazing Product

First off from ordering samples to designing my layout to placing the order was an absolute breeze. The representative was very courteous and helpful and extended an additional discount for the order. Shipping was fast and I received the tiles in a mere 3 days. Installation of the tile was very easy and took about 6 hours total due to having to cut tiles on 2 of the sides. It did take me some time to prepare the garage and thought it was a perfect time to organize and paint the garage. But when I was done, I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful my garage looked. I sweep it with a fine push broom for smooth floors and it sweeps beautifully. I live in Florida and and many reviewers mentioned that the floor buckles when sun hits it directly, so my solution was to keep the garage door closed when direct sun hits that part of the garage. Prior to finding this product, I had checked into having the epoxy coating done and the price was double what the tiles cost. I'm very happy and recommend the product highly.

The online planning tool was useful to determine the number of tiles and end-pieces needed for my install. I chose rubber underlay to eliminate clicking and create a softer floor to walk on. Salesperson advised on best methods and lowest-price options. Everything arrived on time and I was able to do the entire 3-car garage floor myself in two days. Tiles can be trimmed with a rotary saw and sturdy utility knife. Rubber mallet comes in handy to convince tiles they need to interlock. Final product looks great and easy to wipe up oil spills, etc.

These tiles are easy to install, cut to fit as needed and the whole process took me less than 5-hours for a 23x26 garage. Mix in color variety was not significant, although you can tell the tiles between boxes when brand new. Floor has been down for a few weeks now and you can’t see the variability in the color any more.

This floor was easy to install. Everything snapped into place and looks absolutely awesome. I chose the orange and tan and checkered boarded it. I found it to be a very strong floor as I roll a 61 inch tool chest across it. I installed this in a 12 by 20 garage that I built in my backyard so it has a 3/4 inch wood deck. I will be ordering more for my attached garage.
