Scope the whole district once, then order building by building.
Survey every space
The install steps on our commercial flooring page start with a site assessment. Inspect each area for damage, moisture issues, and uneven surfaces that need repair.
- Measure each room and record its use.
- Note cracks, holes, and uneven areas that need a leveling compound.
- Do a moisture test where the floor type needs one, for example in basements.
- Record the current floor that installers must remove.
- Note rolling loads, such as carts, in each space.
Match floors to room types
| Room type | Floor our pages suggest | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Classrooms | Low-pile carpet tiles (pile under 1/4″) | Easy to clean and resists crushing |
| Offices | Carpet tiles | Comfort and sound absorption |
| Libraries | Rubber flooring | Noise reduction and durability |
| Cafeterias | Rubber flooring | Slip-resistant where spills happen |
| Locker rooms | Rubber rolls, such as 5mm Pre-Cut Rubber Rolls | Anti-slip where moisture and spills make floors hazardous |
One floor type for each room type keeps the specification short. It also makes the next order and the next repair easier for your maintenance team. Our commercial flooring page notes that carpet and rubber both help reduce noise.
Send us your room list. We will match a product to each room type and quote it.
Test samples first
We run a free commercial flooring sample program with free shipping, and we ship over 2,000 samples a month. A facilities manager can see and feel a product before a large order.
If you order samples before our daily cutoff, we ship them the same day. Ask for samples of every product on the room-type list at the same time.
Build the order list
Group the square footage by product first, then split it by building. This list becomes the base for your quote, your delivery plan, and your installer bids.
Every product page shows the lead time when you select a color and a size. Add the lead time to each line of the list, so the schedule shows which products to order first.
