Turf rolls are very easy to clean and maintain. Maintenance for these interlocking tiles typically includes the following:
  • Periodic sweeping of loose dirt, dust, and debris may be necessary to keep the flooring surface clean.
  • For stains and blemishes, clean the rolls with a warm water solution of household detergent and water. Never use bleach.
  • For animal urine, use a mixture of white distilled vinegar in an equal amount of water. Make sure to flush thoroughly and vacuum any excess solution.
  • For chewing gum, the use of dry ice or refrigerant packets may be necessary to remove gum from flooring surface.
  • If your turf becomes matted, brushing of the surface may be needed to restore the aesthetic appearance. Always use a synthetic brush and never a metal or wire bristled brush when performing this task.

Installation of our Turf rolled flooring is very easy and typically done by our customer's. Below are instructions for both outdoor and indoor installation of our rolled flooring.

Synthetic Lawn Outdoor Installation
  • First you will want to remove all grasses, sods, mulches, etc. from the marked areas. Note: If you are landscaping around trees shrubbery, flowers, light poles, utilities, etc., remember to mark around those areas and account for the turf edge configuration. Remember to leave ample area uncovered around the bases of trees.
  • Next cap any sprinklers that will not be used. Cap the sprinklers at the pipe level to avoid any leakage that might occur. Relocate sprinklers if necessary. Make sure to mark the location of the un-used sprinklers. Move electrical sprinklers and wiring inward and away from any hardscape or perimeter from six-to-eight inches to avoid accidental damage when nailing turf edges. Once the wiring and other materials are moved, lay the items on top of the subgrade surfacing and secure them with U-shaped nails.
  • Install the base with a decomposed granite which is a special mixture of gravel and sand. This material allows the liquids from the turf to properly drain. For non-pet landscape installations, install DG three inches in depth. Properly distribute and level the base material.
  • Wet the existing base to allow the material to settle properly. Compact the base by vibrating, tamping and rolling the gravel until you have a completely flat surface. Once this solid base is established, the turf can be easily nailed to the base.
  • If using a turf pad, you will want to cut a hole in the base the size and depth of the pad that is being used.
  • Roll out weed cloth if applicable. This fabric prevents any additional plants and weeds from growing through the base of the synthetic grass. Overlap the weed cloth edges by six inches and secure it with as many flat-head nails as necessary. This helps to prevent movement of the cloth. Trim the cloth to fit the landscape area leaving a 1/4” gap along the border. Note: Do not drive nails too deeply as this will cause dimpling.
  • Before laying the turf down, be sure to find either a straight edge or two perpendicular edges for alignment. Square the turf to fit the area to minimize cutting and fitting on all four sides. Once the turf is square, secure the square edges with temporary nails to hold it in place while securing the opposite edges.
  • When fitting the turf, over- cut the turf by one inch along the edges for a proper fit. The excess turf will be necessary for the tucking process. When seaming turf edges together, use a seaming tool. Cut the turf in an S-shape to avoid the turf possibly pushing against each other's angles, which can create discoloration illusion in the seamed area. Install nails every six inches along the edge and drive them down three-quarters of the way. When finished, separate the grass to avoid pulling the blades down with the nail. The nail will be hidden with the grass blade at the base of the mat. Don't drive the nails down too deeply as it will pull the turf down and create dimples. Be sure to secure seams with six-inch U-nails every six inches. Make sure the U-nail is driven to the same level of the mat and hidden with the grass blades.
  • Note: When seaming the turf over a turf pad, you will want to use our turf seam tape or our turf seam tape & adhesive pack which features turf seam tape and a gallon adhesive bucket.
  • Tucking the turf means you will be hiding the turf edges against any hardscape or border by using a metal bar call a wonder bar. This will give your installation a clean plush look.
  • Use a power brush or heavy bristled brush to pull against the grain of the grass to make it stand up. Apply your infill or sand and spread the granules evening throughout the entire turf installation. The infill will hold the blades upright and give the turf more weight.
  • Brush up your turf once again with a power brush or bristled brush to force your infill into the base of the turf. This will allow the turf to settle and create optimal stability for your synthetic grass. Follow up the process to also remove excess debris.
Glue Down Indoor Installation
  • First you will want to make sure that your surface is level, clean and dry. Our turf flooring can be installed on concrete, dusting, powdering concrete, gypcrete , pressure treated decking, wood, or backer board.
  • Next you will want to dry lay your turf to implement roll sequencing to minimize normal variations. Manufacturing details will be back stamped on one side of the backing; this will assist in determining fiber direction.
  • If adding a turf pad, you would install this over the base with either double-sided tape or glue.
  • Apply adhesive or double-sided tape and then lay the turf.
  • Apply a bead of seam sealer to all seams.
  • Roll the product with a 75 lb. Weighted roller across the width and length of the product surface.
  • Once completed, the installation much remain in dry conditions for 72 hrs. in order for the adhesive to cure properly.

It Starts with the Yarn

  • Oval Turf Fiber: Soft, pliable feel

The oval grass blade shape provides a soft pliable feel as well as a realistic appearance, which makes this synthetic turf ideal for children and pets.

Worry-free Drainage

  • Drains Better than Natural grass

Most artificial grass backing is perforated with holes that measure approximately ½ centimeter in diameter and can drain at a rate of more than 30 inches per hour per square yard. Believe it or not, this is actually better than a natural lawn! Whether it’s water or pet urine, the drainage capacity ensures your turf will continue to look great after installation. No need to feel like you can’t have a picnic, run around or let your dogs loose on it. Synthetic grass harnesses the technology to keep your landscape hassle free with great drainage capability.

This will help to keep the turf cool under foot. The next option would be to use our Hydrochill in your turf. You can apply this to your turf and then water it so that it keeps your turf cool. The last option would be to add shade to your yard. This will help to keep the turf from warming up during the day.

I have a boarding kennel and need to lay some outdoor artificial turf for the dogs. If pet urine drains through, how do you manage odors? And, do you recommend putting the turf over packed pea gravel, concrete pads, scraped dirt, or what?
Don Fowler
To help mitigate odors with our Newport Premium Turf Rolls or any of our turf rolls, we recommend using our Zeolite Max. This infill would be added under the turf and also placed on the turf as well. This infill helps to mitigate smells from urine. When using this, we recommend following our instructions for the base which is a crushed gravel base. On top of this base, you would add the Zeolite Max. You would follow the instructions for it on how much and how to use it. Next, you would place the turf over the base and then add in the Zeolite Max as part of your infill package. To also help with smells we would also recommend using our Pet Fresh spray. This can be used as often as you like to keep those smells at bay.
Hi, can the turf rolls be installed on top of uneven surface (wood chips)?
George Chiu
We recommend installing our Newport Premium Turf Rolls over flat, solid surfaces. When installing over uneven surfaces, you run the risk of damaging the turf. Customers have installed our turf over uneven surfaces, but the risk of damaging the rolls is great.

Can the turf be put over excessing grass or weeds? What about septic tanks?
We don't recommend installing our Newport Premium Turf Rolls over existing grass as the turf will not install properly. We recommend removing the existing grass and then following the proper installation instructions. We recommend using a base of crushed granite, but if you have soil that is compacted, you could install over that. Our turf can be installed over septic tanks.
Could I install/use the Newport Premium Turf Rolls indoors?
Our Newport Premium Turf Rolls can be installed both indoors and out.
Can I install this product on a ground level wooden deck?
Yes, our Newport Premium Turf Rolls can be installed on a ground level wood deck.
If I'm purchasing 7.5 x 20 turf for the outdoors, to lay over sand, do I need to purchase the subflooring as well? If so, how many tiles would I need?
Eileen Pinto
You do not need subflooring if you're laying our Newport Premium Turf Rolls outdoors on compacted and leveled sand. If drainage is a concern, you may use our Airdrain turf drainage tiles underneath the turf to allow air to circulate and water to pass through rapidly. For a 7.5' x 20' area, one case of the airdrain drainage tiles would be enough. If you sand is not leveled, you may use our Turf Subfloor Tiles under the turf, 158 tiles would be enough for your space.
When will the Newport Premium Turf Roll come back into stock?
Our Newport Premium Turf Rolls are expected to be back in stock by end of May or the first week of June but we're not certain. Please see our other popular turf products, like Newport Turf Rolls, Del Mar Turf Rolls & Bow Wow Turf Rolls here
When will the Newport Premium Turf be back in stock? How does this drain? I have a covered balcony. Usually when it rains just the edges of my balcony get wet. My balcony its large cement squares. Will this hold water? Is this cat friendly?
We currently do not have a set date on when our Newport Premium Turf Rolls will be back in stock. This turf has perforations for drainage, so it will allow water to pass through it easily. However, if you're looking for a turf that's good at drainage as well as great for pets (both dogs & cats), please see our Bow Wow Turf Rolls.
I have a rubber roof covered with asphalt. can this be laid directly on top? Will it provide protection for patio furniture not to poke holes in the roof?
Royston Coppenger
Yes, you may use these rolls on the rubber roof covered with asphalt. However, laying these on top of asphalt is not always recommended because of drainage issues, especially during the rainy season. You may use our Airdrain turf drainage tiles over asphalt and install the turf over them, so the water gets drained out properly. You may place furniture on the turf and they would act as a barrier between the furniture and the rubber roof.
Can you install this directly on the ground or does it require a pad or liner?
You can install our Newport Premium Turf Rolls directly on the ground that's free of grass or sods. Placing our weed barrier underneath always helps to prevent weeds from growing into your turf. Padding can be added if you need extra cushion underneath (for kids) but it's optional. To get complete instructions on how to properly install your turf outdoors, please check out the installation tab on the product page.
