Luxury Vinyl tiles and planks are easy to keep clean and maintain. Maintenance of the floor typically includes:
  • Always use plywood or other boards when moving heavy objects across the floor to avoid scratching of the floor surface.
  • Use felt pads under chair and furniture legs to prevent scratching of the floor surface.
  • Place walk off door mats at all entrances and doorways to collect debris from shoes such as dirt, rocks, and moisture, from being tracked in and onto your new floors.
  • Avoid using rubber backed area rugs or floor mats as they can stain the flooring surface over time.
  • Use non-staining floor protectors underneath heavy furniture, chairs, and tables.
  • Daily or weekly vacuuming or dust mopping to remove dirt, grit, dust etc. Do not use treated dust mops.
  • When mopping, use a damp and never a wet mop.
  • Clean up spill immediately to prevent damage to the floor.
For more detailed cleaning instructions along with commercial cleaning instructions, please Click Here.
Installation is simple, and is commonly done by our customers. Installation of USFloors planks and tiles is as follows:
  • Complete any necessary floor prep.
  • Start with the tongue side facing the wall.
  • After the initial starter board, press the end seam of the second plank into the end seam of the first plank, and then lock them together by laying the plank down. Continue working left to right.
  • Install the first plank in the second row by inserting the tongue into the groove of the plank in the first row. This is best done with a low angle of the plank.
  • Insert the long side seam at a slight angle first. As the top surfaces meet, rotate the plank down into the locked position. Engage the end seam, using a rubber mallet if necessary.
  • Planks may be cut with the use of a crosscut power saw.
  • Continue installing planks removing any gaps using a tapping block and a scrap of flooring to cover the tapping block. Be careful not to damage In*Step tongue and groove.
  • Protect all exposed edges by installing wall moulding and/or transition strips. Make sure that no plank will be secured in any way to the subfloor.

The core layer is 100% waterproof and high density, meaning that it can be installed anywhere! Reliable Installation

  • No buyer’s remorse here

COREtec products install easily without the need for messy glue, mortar or perimeter bonding like other floor types. These rigid planks are also specially built so that they won’t expand or contract under normal circumstance, ensuring your installation is reliable for years to come. You can even install these planks over most existing hard surfaces, such as ceramic tile, hardwood or laminate, and imperfect subfloors. The rigid plank technology helps to eliminate ripples and waves that are often caused by uneven subfloors.

can you use a Shark steam cleaner to clean CoreTec floors?
Anonymous
The manufacturer recommends to lightly damp mop using a well wrung mop.You can also clean the floor using a properly diluted Neutral pH cleaner in cool water or ready to use spray cleaner that will not leave a residue such as Bona Professional Series Stone, Tile, and Laminate Cleaner in a pre-mixed spray bottle. Use clean water and a diluted floor cleaner. Do NOT use harsh cleaners or chemicals on the floor. Do NOT use abrasive scrubbing tools. Do NOT use detergents, abrasive cleaners or “mop and shine” products. Please see our Maintenance section for a PDF link to the detailed maintenance and after construction information.
Just had 7" plank Coretec installed and am confused by what rugs/carpets can be used. We were advised to use a rug pad. We purchased a rug pad from Lowes that states that it protects floors from staining. It is made out of 30% PVC, 26% Calcium Carbonate, 32% Diilsononyl Phthalate and 12% Polyester. Is this OK to use?
Anonymous
You should be fine as long as it says it is non-staining and not made of rubber.
If using cortex vinyl plank in a bathroom, can pee penetrate seams and cause odor. Love the color but have men who miss!
Anonymous
While the seams are tight, but it would be a good idea to put down a bath rug that does not have a rubber backing to help with the situation.

If i install this flooring in a bathroom, do i glue the portion of floor that will be under vanity cabinets? The rest of the floor would then not be glued (floating) thanks
Anonymous
Yes, you would want to glue the floors underneath heavy items like a vanity cabinet. Please see detailed installation instructions for further information.
Im thinking of installing this floring in a small bathroom. How do you cut this around the toilet base please?
Anonymous
For cuts that are straight you would want to use a crosscut power saw. For specialty cuts, use a jig saw or a roto zip tool.
We plan on installing the flooring in a basement where a pool table will be installed. Are there any issues with the weight of the table not allowing the floor to expand/contract?
Tom
The weight of a pool table may be too much for the floor and may pin the floating floor in place. If the floor tries to move, you may see some gapping in line with the pool table, but otherwise, it should be fine. We recommend something solid like a coaster under the legs to keep dents from forming on the floor. It should be 1-1 ½” bigger around than the base of the legs.
After heavy furniture, steel framed couches, cabinets , heavy bedroom furniture, Kit. Appliances, anything with weight to it, have they left indentations after they are moved ? ?
JoAnne Ness
Frequently moved furniture should be equipped with felt pads to avoid scratching the floor. Heavy furniture and appliances should be equipped with non staining large surface floor protectors.
We had Coretec floors installed recently. What brand of cleaner do you recommend? There was a specific brand, but cannot remember what it was.

We are thinking about getting your flooring in our kitchen. We have an office chair that we use to get around, as we can't more than a few minutes. Will this be a factor as we have vinyl now and it as torn some of the vinyl in pieces? Thank you.

Can you lay vinyl over ceramic floor tile?
Tammy
You can install Coretec Plus 7 over ceramic tile or any other hard, flat surface.
Can this be used in a home that is not climate controlled all year round?
Anonymous
COREtec Plus is stable between 32 and 140 degrees. You can glue down the COREtec Plus if the temperatures are going to be below the 32 mark.
Do you need a moisture barrier under this product?
Anonymous
As an extra precaution, we recommend 6mm plastic. However, if you choose not to use a moisture barrier, with will not void your warranty.
Will a refrigerator or stove dent the COREtec plus 5” when moved?
Furniture should be moved onto the newly installed floor using an appliance hand truck over hardboard runways. Please see the COREtec installation PDF for further information.
We just had Coretec floors installed and I am curious about rugs. Can we use latex backed rugs? Will they stain the floor? Are rug pads okay? Anything specifically that we should use or definitely avoid?
Katie
Do not use rubber backed mats. Rug pads should be fine as long as they are non-staining.
After the purchase and installed Coretec noticed a fine white film on the planks. If you rub a plank the film will smear. What is film. Is this normal? It is not easy to get the floor clean.

John Jolliffe
COREtec is not recommended for outdoor installations.
I would like to use this in a enclosed porch. It is dry and has partial sun. I am not worried about UV fading. The room is climate controlled on an as needed basis. When the room is not climate controlled the temp could be 100 or 20. Can I use coretec plus for this application?
van
This product is not recommended for use in any outdoor/partial outdoor area.
Can I put an additional underlayment?
Anonymous
Adding any additional cushioning will void the warranty. If you have a wooden subfloor, you can add a layer of plywood to raise it up. Over concrete it gets a bit more complex, but it would need to be something rigid, like a layer of cement on top or a cement board.
Can the Coretec Plus be glued down?
Jacki
Please see our installation instructions PDF for detailed installation information.

My flooring company just came by to measure and he said I cannot put a vanity with legs on top of Core Tec....can this be true? He's the first one to bring that to my attention.
Sunny
Furniture should be equipped with felt pads to avoid scratching the floor. Heavy furniture should be equipped with non staining large surface floor protectors, to help distribute the weight out to it doesn't leave dents in the floor.

Dee
Coretec planks are great for any typical flooring environment provided they are not open to the natural elements.
Does Cortec Vinyl flooring fade? I have skylights and a lot of windows. Should i put shade on my skylights during the day?

Is there a safe way to remove spilled paint from your COREtec flooring?
Nicole Kulper
There are several methods that you can find online depending on the type of paint spilled. Generally speaking, you can lightly / carefully use a plastic scraper or plastic spatula to remove the dried paint. A mix of mild soap and water may work as well.

Stephen Simmons

Has anyone ever complained bout an odor coming from Coretec? If so, will it dissipate over time?
Robert
When installing a new product an odor can be present as its something no familiar with however it's not dangerous. We suggest using a product that is familiar with the floor like a safe cleaner to help mask the odor as the product settles.
Does the wear layer have a lot of texture?
Michelle Axtell
The Coretec comes with an embossed layer that will have texture to the layer.
I want to use this flooring in a handicapped bathroom and will be installed in front of a curb less shower .i am sure their will be a lot of water on it and I am worried about it leaking in the seams to the wood subfloor . Mostly worried about mold and rot
Mike
The Coretec Plus is a waterproof flooring with a click and lock system that prevents water to get through the cracks. However, in case water sits for long periods of time and something was to fail this particular product is resistant to mold and mildew growth for cases like this. It's suggested as well to use an underlayment that would help with any mold or mildew that may occur.
Can planks be easily removed and reinstalled?
Emmy
COREtec Plus 7" Waterproof Vinyl Planks are fairly easy to remove and reinstall, as long as you don't glue them down to the subfloor.
We just installed the Coreteck waterproof vinyl planks at front entrance and kitchen. I live in Canada and want to put a mat at the front door. I see that you say that mat cannot have a rubber backing. Why is that? I can't find a mat without a rubber back. I need to put a mat at front door to protect it from mud, snow, etc.
Angela
We do not recommend using rubber-backed mats since these can stain or discolor any vinyl flooring over time. It is best to use nonstaining vinyl-backed mats or woven rugs that are colorfast.
Our condo is on a slab, with risks of flooding. Can I use this cork-backed flooring?
Barbara Wood
These planks may be used, however, they are waterproof, not floodproof. Flooding wouldn’t be covered by the warranty on COREtec products, but pills and liquids that sat for a period of time would.

  COREtec Plus 7
Self-installed in Family Room
Jake F. from Christiansburg, VA wrote...
I recently purchased 700 square feet of USFloors COREtec Plus 7 inch plank in the Olympic Pine Style. I had spend a month searching the internet to find a waterproof and scratch resistant floor that looked real. I was recommended COREtec from a friend and tried to do some research but could not find much. I took the risk and trusted in my friends recommendations and I am very happy to say this is a GREAT product for a great price. We installed this floor as we were renovating the rest of our first floor and were extremely surprised to see has resilient this flooring was. Anything that was spilt of the floor was VERY easy to clean up. During our renovation we had spilt paint and mortar on the floor several times and would clean up like nothing was ever there. Also moving furniture in and appliances around had no effect on the floor and I doubt that any normal house hold activity could cause a scratch on this floor. The flooring is also thicker then many other brands so you do not get bumpy or wavy floor from minor flooring imperfections. I have installed several vinyl floors in the past and all of them have a very artificial feel but not COREtec. Overall, I can not recommend the product enough. I would not look anywhere else if I ever need to do a flooring project in the future. COREtec has a great product for an unbeatable price. Other flooring types like Karndean are extremely expensive and provide about the same quality from what I have seen.

I have two dogs, both getting older and more frequent accidents. I had to get rid of the carpeting in all living areas except bedrooms. I found a reputable flooring business and they refered me to the Coretec brand. I could not be more happy. This flooring looks and feels great. All the floors sqeaky spots under the carpet before are now gone. I only clean it with ammonia and water, but add a little bleach to the water when dogs have an accident. It is so easy to care for. I have dripped paint on it and not known till it was dry and I scraped it off with my fingernail..It was that easy. Have twice dropped heavy cans in the kitchen and no marks. I love it so much I am going to do the two small bedrooms as well. You wont be disappointed.
