Rugged Grip-Loc tiles are easy to maintain. Cleaning of these flooring tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose dust, dirt, or debris from the tiles.
  • Simply hose down the floor and let the self-draining design allow for the dirt and debris to be swept away.

Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are easy to install. Installation of these floor tiles typically includes:
  1. Clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dirt, dust, grease, or other foreign material.
  2. When installing the Grip-Loc tiles, we recommend starting in the front left corner of the room and working your way out from there.
  3. Make sure the female side (loops) of the tile is facing away from the wall.
  4. After filling the left wall with tiles and the adjacent wall, proceed to fill the rest of the room with whole tiles.
  5. When you come up to a wall or object, don’t worry. Just measure the area and cut the tiles with a tile cutter or a power saw with a fine-toothed blade and put the trimmed tiles into place.
  6. When trimming the tiles into place, make sure you leave about a 3/4” space between the tiles and the wall or obstruction.
  7. Once the tiles are in place, you can then snap in the edge pieces, if you purchased them.
Don't see what you're looking for?
Does mold or mildew grow on these tiles? I would like to use them in an uncovered outdoor shower at the beach. Our present wood snap tiles grow slippery with mold and mildew.
Anonymous
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are mold and mildew resistant as well as slip resistant. They would be perfect for your outdoor shower at the beach. We want an invitation!
I have an outdoor utility area (air conditioning units, pool equipment, garbage cans, etc.) that has a rigid border. It is currently dirt. I am considering adding crushed stone for drainage. I would like to cover the stone or dirt with your Grip Lock tile product. Do you recommend the tile over the stone or the dirt? Also, what is the difference between Rugged Grip Lock and Vented Grip Lock, other than the thickness of the tile?
Tim Franco
We recommend placing our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over a flat surface such as concrete or asphalt, but these tiles can be placed over crushed stone or dirt as long as the surface is flat. When placed over these surfaces, during heavy rain events, the floor may become unstable, but during normal conditions, the tiles will perform as designed. The difference between the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles and Vented Grip-Loc tiles are the colors and the surface venting pattern.
I'm interested in installing these over a treated lumber deck. How easy is it to pick the tiles up to seal the deck occasionally?
Deborah
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are very easy to install and uninstall. These tiles are interlocking, so when you need to remove them, all you would have to do is start on one side and pull them up and separate as need be.
Can these be used under a softer rubber gym flooring?
Jonathan
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be a subfloor under soft rubber gym flooring. These tiles are very easy to put together and are rigid giving your floor all the support it will need.
I want to put artificial turf in my balcony which is on second floor and concrete. Can I use this tile under the turf to get the proper drainage. I am really concerned that if I directly put the turf on concrete, it might clog some water during the rain. I am thinking of putting a layer of drainage tile on the concrete and then put a layer of turf on top of it. Please suggest if this can work?
Sugam
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles would work perfect in this capacity. These tiles are vented allowing water to pass through and under them. This will ensure proper drainage on your patio.
Can I put these directly over the grass? I would like to then park my car on top? Please let me know if they can withstand that?
slavko
You can install our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over grass. When placed over grass, the tiles may sink into the soil when the soil is wet. The tiles will hold up to a car being parked and driven over them. They are made from the same material all of our hard plastic garage tiles are.
What is the load rating?
Anonymous
We don't have a load rating for our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles, but these tiles can withstand the weight of a car on them.
Can I use these on my concrete basement floor? Then put vinyl tiles on top of these?
Kim
You can place our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over a concrete floor and place vinyl tiles on top of them.
Can these tiles be used on the garage floor and withstand the weight of cars?
TRock
The tiles will hold up to a car being parked and driven over them. They are made from the same material all of our hard plastic garage tiles are.
I have an outdoor kitchen, and I would like to put this type of flooring on top of the pavers. Would that work?
MARISSA CAKMAKCI
You can install our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over any hard flat surface, so installing over top pavers is A.O.K.
Please explain the '5% overage"
JAMIE MORRIS
5% overage is our recommended overage or "extra" product, to cover any mishaps customers may have during installation, so you won't have to order extra product later. It is always better to have a little extra, just in case.
Hi, I'm looking to create an outdoor fitness area on my patio. The patio is susceptible to mold and mildew. Would these or the sports tiles be the best choice?
Brian
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles & Outdoor Sports Tiles are both made of the same material and are mold and mildew resistant, so either one would work great as outdoor fitness area tiles.
can these be used with turf?
Benjamen Shaw
Yes, our Rugged grip-loc tiles can be used under turf to provide proper drainage underneath.
What is the best flooring for an outdoor workout area where heavy weights and concrete balls will be dropped? Slip resistance and durability are the 2 most important factors to me.
Adam
You may use any of our performance turfs for this purpose, like our Performance Turf Rolls. They work perfectly outside and are durable.
I am planning to renovate my garage into a gym. The garage is ground level and will get water a few times a year. I plan to use the renovated garage as a gym, with a squat rack and other weights. Will these tiles be able to support heavy weights for a gym? If not, do you have a recommended product? Thank you!
Matt
Yes, these tiles can support gym weights. These tiles can handle the weight of a car!
Hello, I have a flat concrete roof (terrace) of about 5000 sf. If I stall silicon for the waterproofing, can I install these rubber tiles on top of the silicon application to be able to walk on? if so then do I need to cover silicon with any material in order to protect from the tile's texture in contact? Also we live in Florida with harsh direct sun and salt air. Would it sustain this weather? Thank you in advance for the response.
We wouldn't recommend using these tiles over silicone since they may eventually cut through the silicone as they're made of hard plastic. Please see our Soft Flex Tiles.
Exactly how flexible are these tiles? Will they "bend" at all? Or bend similar to a rubber tile?
Mark Verdeyen
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tile are a rigid hard plastic tile. They do flex a little bit, but not like a rubber tile.
How do you prevent the floor moving? I want to use these tiles in snow plow trucks, and I do not want to drill holes.
keith
To prevent movement of our Rugged Grip-Loc tiles, you will want to place them side to side in the snow plow. When fully installed, the weight of the floor will help to keep the tiles in place. If there is still movement after installed, you could use a pressure sensitive adhesive to keep them in place.
Can these be glued to concrete? I would like to cover my steps and glue small strip on side to finish it off.
Anonymous
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be glued to concrete with a pressure sensitive adhesive.
Are the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles easy to cut in order to fit into spaces? If so, what do you recommend using to cut?
Anonymous
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be cut with one of our Tile Cutters or with a table saw at low speed with water or silica.
What is the thickness of your product? What type of warranty is offered?
rene
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are 5/8" thick and feature a 10 year warranty.
I would like to use this for a rabbit house floor instead of a wire grid. Can you tell me what size the holes are in the tile so I know if this will work in keeping the bunnies clean and dry.
Anonymous
The holes in our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are about 1 centimeter.
Can this be installed for a roof top deck with TPO roof below? Will it not make any holes in TPO?
Don
We do not recommend using our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over a TPO roof. These tiles are a hard plastic and would create holes in the roof. We recommend going with one our softer plastic Grip-Loc Tiles. Those would be our Smooth Grip-Loc, Raised Grip-Loc and Designer Grip-Loc Tiles.
I would like to install these in the backyard, over lawn, so that we can bounce a basketball on it. Would a basketball bounce?
Anonymous
A basketball would bounce on our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles, however, we do recommend installing these over a hard surface to get a better bounce. These tiles are made with the same material all court tiles are.
We want to use these outside our RV instead of a deck or rug. We thought if we leveled the area with sand before we put them down they would work. We would be placing chairs and a table on them and they would of course get walked on continually. The area now is hard packed ground.
Phyllis Hudson
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles would be work great for this application. These tiles are very easy to install and remove and are vented making them slip-resistant when wet.
I need to figure out what to use under my new 8'X10' patio rug so that when it rains it dries nicely and the water evaporates or runs off. I would also need the edging, but I don't know the difference (I know, sounds stupid) between the female edges or male edges. Can you help me please?
Anonymous
Female edging has loops on it and male edging has no loops. You can use either for your installation and would use both if placing edging all around. The female edges would correspond to the side with no loop and vice versa for the male edges.
How would this product do with parking cars on it atop a compacted gravel base?
Paige
You can park a car on our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. These tiles are made from hard polypropylene plastic which is the same material all of our hard plastic garage tiles are made of.
What is the best way to cut these tiles?
Wendy Videlock
The best way to cut our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles is with one of our Tile Cutters or with a table saw on low speed with silicone or water running over the tile to keep it from melting.
We have an outdoor walkway which is exposed to weather. The base is wood. The top is outdoor carpet. I want to replace the carpet with something weather resistant that is nice to walk on. The walkway is 3" wide. Does your product work in that situation? How would I keep it from shifting?
Anonymous
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles would be a great alternative to your outdoor carpet. These tiles are weather resistant and are slip resistant when wet. Water will not pool on top of the tiles but will flow through and under them. You wouldn't need to do anything to the tiles to keep them from slipping. The weight of the tiles interlocked together will keep them in place.
I am putting a gym on our patio---it is uncovered and part of the building's utility roof which has been converted into private patios. It is likely asphalt. The patios are not entirely closed, leaving room for drainage. Would this be appropriate for both a gym floor (rack, bench, crossfit) and avoid water/debris buildup under the tiles?
Melanie
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be used a gym floor. These tiles are very impact resistant and would all for water and other debris to flow under the tiles easily.
Can you please tell me an alternate method to cutting the tiles with a miter saw or jig saw, fein tool, instead of a "sharp utility knife". I need to know the best blade to use (number of teeth, wood vs metal etc). Thank you!
tauran
We recommend using a power saw with a fine-toothed blade when cutting our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles.
I see that the tiles are 12"x12", however, how far out do the female loops extend?
Natalie
The loops on the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles extends out from the tile about a 1/2".
Will any of your rubber tiles work on a pressure treated floor of a pontoon boat I need to replace the carpet and looking for something easy to clean?
jim
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are the perfect replacement for carpet on a boat. These tiles are very easy to clean and are UV-resistant. These tiles are vented, so they will also water to go through the floor ensuring the flooring surface will stay dry and slip resistant when in use.
Would the Grip-Loc tiles be good to lay on a EPDM rubber roof? No chemical interaction to be concerned about?
Anonymous
We do not recommend installing our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over an EPDM rubber roof. The reason being is that the bottom of the tiles has little pegs that may puncture the roof. There would be no chemical reaction between the two surfaces.
I'll have to cut about 25 of these tiles in half to get the proper fit on our patio. What would you recommend to for this much cutting?
mike
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are made of hard plastic and can these tiles with a tile cutter or a power saw with a fine-toothed blade.
Will these tiles hurt your bare feet? I am looking for use around an outdoor pool. Thanks.
Julie
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles will get warm in direct sunlight but will be cooler than concrete. To keep these tiles cool, we recommend spraying them water. Since these tiles are vented, they will still be slip resistant unlike concrete when wet.
Can these tiles be installed on top of an EPDM rooftop? The roof is our deck, and I need a flooring. Any suggestions? Thanks
JLR
We do not recommend using our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over an EPDM roof. These tiles are a hard plastic and would create holes in the roof. We recommend going with one our softer plastic Grip-Loc Tiles. Those would be our Smooth Grip-Loc, Raised Grip-Loc and Designer Grip-Loc Tiles.
Can I put a swing set on these?
Erica N Tharp
You can install a swing set over our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. These tiles are very durable and made from hard plastic with vents in it. This helps to make these tiles very slip resistant when wet. These tiles are also able to withstand a lot of weight. They are made from the same material as our standard garage tiles, so the weight of a swing set wouldn't be an issue.
Can you use these tiles to cover a worn wooden deck? The tiles would be under a roofed construction (gazebos) that might get some water.
esther
You can install our Rugged Grip-Loc Tile over any hard, flat surface that is sturdy. We recommend installing ? over a concrete or asphalt pad or a wooden deck. Since these tiles are vented, they can have water on them. Even when wet, they are very slip resistant.
Would this flooring be suitable for an commercial indoor pool deck? Would it be comfortable on bare feet?
Tefany
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles would be suitable for as flooring for a commercial indoor pool deck. These tiles are comfortable underfoot and are also slip resistant due to them being vented.
Can this tiles be installed directly on the sand? Will the sand slip through the holes when weight is applied?
We recommend installing our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over a hard, flat surface such as concrete, asphalt, or wood decking. If you place these over sand, they may not stay interlocked very well, and the sand would come through the vents in the tiles. Customers have installed these tiles over sand with success. So if you are ok with these inherent issues, these tiles will work perfectly for you.
Is the color of the "gray" edge piece the same as the "graphite" tile?
bob brown
The Gray color is the same as the Graphite color on our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles.
Do these tiles interlock with each other? I would like to use them under a dog kennel. My daughters dog is chewing up the carpeting. I want to put these under the kennel to protect the carpeting from getting ruined. Thanks
Coleen Keefer
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are an interlocking tile.
How much does each Rugged Grip-Loc tile weigh?
Stef
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles weigh approximately one-pound a piece.
Could these tiles be stacked to create a thicker base to fill a shower floor and make it level with an outside deck to make this handicap accessible for a wheelchair to roll from outside the shower into the shower? Or would it be possible to build a window frame type structure under the tiles to create the height needed? Would that reduce the strength of the tiles?
Dora Canter
You can stack out Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles on top of each other, but we would recommend placing a piece of plywood between the two floors to keep the stability of the floor intact. The tiles are made from durable polypropylene plastic and will not crack under the weight of traffic on the floor whether it is from feet or a wheelchair. These tiles are very easy to install as they are interlocking and can get removed and replaced if damaged. These tiles are also very slip resistant and are resistant to mold and mildew growth.
I have been watching videos on how to install your product! I noticed on one of them that they placed what looks like an underlayment on the garage floor first then added the tile. Is that something you sell or would recommend doing? I live in the northeast! Thanks!
You can add an underlay under our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. The underlayment we sell and recommend is a rubber underlayment, and it is called our ShockPad. You can find this on our underlayment page or on the middle accessories page on this product.
How would these tiles do on a concrete pad for an outdoor baseball batting cage? Would there be a concern with baseball cleats? Also, this area floods from time to time. Should we glue down the tiles and how would they hold up to the occasional flooding?
Dean Warlitner
The use of cleats on them would not damage our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. You may see some surface scratches, but the cleats themselves will not damage the tiles themselves. You don't need to glue the tiles down, as they are vented and will allow the water to flow through and under the floor. If the water overcomes the whole area, the tiles won't really move as the water will still be able to move freely through the flooring.
Can this tile be installed outside over duradeck and not damage the membrane? If not what do you recommend for an uncovered deck location?
Donald
Yes, our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be installed outside over the dura deck.
Can I place a 5' x 8' (only 22" high) above ground pool on top of the Rugged grip loc tiles if I use 40 tiles (40sq ft) to serve as the area of the pool liner?
Geneva
Yes, you can place the above ground pool on top of our Rugged Grip Loc Tiles.
How do these do in cold temps? Because there are holes in them, do they get icy?
Jess
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are perfect for outdoor use in all temperatures. They will not become brittle or crack or anything even in very cold weather. The holes in the tile allow for water to drain instead of a puddle which actually helps prevent ice! Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles also have tiny nodules along the top for added slip resistance.
Can you put laminated flooring on top of this
Yes, you can put laminate flooring on top of our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles.
Do you have them in black
Rob
We do not offer the Rugged Grip Loc tiles black. However, if that's the color you specifically want, you may consider the Smooth Grip-Loc tiles or the Designer grip-loc tiles.
Can this item be stacked on a second layer of these tiles if needed to raise the floor?
You can stack our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles on top of each other, but we would recommend placing a piece of plywood between the two floors to keep the stability of the floor intact.
can i use this product under patio pavers.
RICK
You can install our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over any hard flat surface, so installing under pavers is okay.
If one of these tiles were used as a "table top" (with 2 inch square legs in each corner), how much weight do you think it could support? Ballpark estimates would be great, Thanks!
The Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be used as a tabletop. These tiles are used in driveways and can hold the weight of a car, so they should work perfectly for you.
Can these tiles be installed over grass as a basketball court?
Malinda
Yes, our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be installed over the grass as a basketball court.
Are these good for under a Children’s outdoor play house/slide for cushioning? It will be placed over concrete
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be used for this purpose, but if you're looking for something that would add more cushion, please see our playground slide mats.
We have these ties on our sport court. They are great and have lasted for years but have faded, become chalky in color. Is there a conditioner that can restore the color or do we have to replace all the tiles?
The best option here would be to replace the tiles since we do not offer any conditioner to restore the color of the tiles. Please feel free to call us directly so we can help you find the best resolution to this issue.
Can these tiles be used for basketball and inline hockey
Yes, our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be used for basketball and many other outdoor sports. Our best tile for inline hockey are our HotShot Hockey Floor Tiles.
Hi there -- has anyone ever used these as outdoor flooring for a dog run? Would they be safe to use for that, and would they withstand the winter?
Catherine Goodman
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are multipurpose tiles that can be used for various purposes including using these as a dog run. These tiles can withstand winter without being damaged, and they will be able to withstand ice and snow.
Will the colors fade or the tiles crack on an outdoor deck?
Shelley Towns
Our Rugged Grip-Loc tiles will last you a long time and won't crack. These tiles can be used outdoors all year long and are UV stable, ensuring the color will not fade drastically in direct sunlight.
Are these tiles suitable for an outdoor play area for a toddler? Is the material very hard? I would be placing these over cement, anything to avoid lots of scraped knees for my 18 month old !
Brittany C
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be used in outdoor play areas but since they're made from hard plastic, they may be a little hard for the kid. Our Soft Flex Tiles would be a better option for you since those are made of a softer material. We also offer playground tiles that are designed for use on playgrounds and are made of rubber, so will be softer.
I am looking at the rugged grip lock tiles. I want to use them on my roof deck. I see all of the accessories. Do I need these? Also all of the tools do I really need them to install?
Marie E Daly
Our Rugged grip-loc tiles can be installed on your roof deck easily. The accessories are edging pieces that are needed only if you need edging around the tiles. The installation tools that we have provided are just our recommendations, it is totally up to you to get them or not. Otherwise, simply laying the tiles on the deck and interlocking them would be good enough.
Would like to cover outdoor concrete deck across from ocean. Which tiles? Do they get very hot to bare feet in the sun.
Jody
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be used on your outdoor deck. These tiles will get warm in direct sunlight but will be cooler than concrete. To keep these tiles cool, we recommend spraying them water.
Is the carpet fire resistant? Safe to be used with open flames such as fire pits, Grills and chimneys.
Kenneth
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are hard plastic tiles, not carpet. We wouldn't recommend using these in areas with open flames. Please see our porcelain and ceramic tiles.
Do these tiles attach and unattach from each other easily?
Rustie Zerby
Yes! Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are super easy to attach and detach!
I want to put these on a pool deck that is made up of 4 sections that are each 54” x 72”x 60” from the pool edge to the outside of the decking. So each section is about 27 sq’. Can I cut these to fit that shape? Would they still interlock in some way or would you recommend something else?
Laurie
Yes, our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be easily cut to fit your space with one of our Tile Cutters, with a table saw on low speed with silicone or water running over the tile to keep it from melting or with a power saw with a fine-toothed blade. These tiles interlock with each other and are very easy to install.
Can these be safety installed over a rubber membrane?
Thomas
We do not recommend installing these tiles over the rubber membrane. Please use our Soft Flex Tiles for this purpose.
Do you have this flooring in 24x24"
Thomas J LoCicero
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles come as 12"x12" tiles.
I have a boat dock that gets wet daily. The pressure treated wood gets slimy and very slippery. will this product get slimy? Also can I get in bigger sizes?
paul visco
Our Rugged grip-loc tiles are a great flooring option for boats. These tiles resist mold and mildew growth and slip-resistant as well. These come as 12"x12" tiles.
Can you paint these? If so, what type do you use?
These tiles can be painted with polyurethane paint.
I am intrested it purchasing the rugged grip lock tiles. The tile color says graphite but accessories for the edge is listed as grey. Would these be the same shade? I would be really disappointed if they turned out to not match. Thank you, Vandana
Vandana Bednarski
If you scroll down on the "color" tab on the accessory, you will see we offer multiple colors, to match the color of the tiles.
Do the tiles get hot? I'm looking to put them on the brick surface around my pool. The brick gets hot enough to burn feet.
Elizabeth
Our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles will get warm in direct sunlight but will be cooler than concrete. To keep these tiles cool, we recommend spraying them water.
I would like to use these tiles as central attic floor on joists, so the insulation can "breath". How many pounds can they support?
Maria
These tiles can withstand the weight of a car, we do not have a load rating for them.
I live near Orlando, FL and I would like to place these tiles over ugly ceramic tile on an open patio. Although we aren't near the coast, we do get occasional strong winds from storms in the area. Are they sturdy/heavy enough when joined that I won't have to pick them up off the lawn every time there's a storm or would I have to adhere them to the surface?
Michelle Mondragon
The weight of the interlocked tiles will prevent them from moving, but it may be a good idea to adhere the tiles on the sides to the subfloor with a heavy-duty double-sided tape just to be safe.
Can they be used to cover a concrete path in winter? Would they provide grip in very cold weather and can you shovel snow off them?
Earl
Yes, these tiles can be used on a concrete path. When interlocked together, the weight of the tiles will allow them to stay together in one place, so snow can be shoveled off of them with ease.
Would these be good to use as a greenhouse floor
Betsy
Yes, these tiles can be used as a greenhouse floor.
Can the Rugged Grip-loc tiles be used on PVC membrane roof?
KEITH JONES
We do not recommend using these tiles over a PVC roof. Please use our Soft Flex Tiles for this purpose.
If I put these over a treated wood deck, do I still have to seal the deck periodically?
Peter
Sealing the deck periodically isn't required, but recommended to be sure that your wood deck doesn't get damaged with the water seeping on to the wood deck through the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles.
My garage currently has linoleum glued to concrete, which results in a great slip hazard when wet, particularly with winter snow. Can the tiles stand up to weight if a car? The installation seems to allow them to float over substrate. Will they remain in place when car moves? Is there a better suited product that you offer?
Susan M Andersen
Yes, these tiles can handle the weight of a car and wouldn't move since the tiles will be interlocked and the weight of the tiles will help them stay in place. We offer a wide range of garage flooring products that are available on our sites. You may also call us directly for more information on products.
Do you have an edging for the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles, when they have been cut down for sizing?
Robert L Topoleski
We do carry edging for these tiles but they may not fit the tiles once cut if the tiles lose the loops that are needed to attach the tiles to the edges.
I'm looking at installing these tiles in an outdoor court setting for raquetball. I recieved a sample and they look great for that application--I'm wondering if you all would be able to suggest an outdoor-appropriate rubber underlayment that would create some extra cushion under these and not get mold/mildew/etc. outside. I am in the Southwest, so we dont get a TON of moisture to begin with....
Matt
You may use our 2mm ShockPad as an underlayment beneath these tiles.
Can this be installed over a rubber membrane roof?
Bill
We do not recommend installing these tiles over the rubber membrane. Please use our Soft Flex Tiles for this purpose.
Can these be used as a outside subfloor under pavers?
Philip Jeffrey sheak
Yes, these tiles can be used as subfloors.
I am considering this for a 5x12 balcony over a busy street. Both ends and the middle would be weighted with furniture. Is there any possibility of the tiles unlocking and flying into the street during high winds?
RG
The possibility is extremely low since once interlocked, the weight of these tiles will keep them in place. If in doubt, you may use double-sided tape along the perimeter of the tiles to adhere them to the subfloor for extra safety.
I'm looking for flooring in an occasionally wet basement concrete floor. I am an artist and would be spending time standing on this material. Does it provide any cushioning? I'm sure it would be more comfortable than concrete in the winter. Please advise. Thanks.
These tiles are made of hard plastic and would work great on the concrete floor, but maybe hard on feet. You may use our Shock Pad underneath these tiles for an extra cushion.
The people who built our house continued ceramic tile outside, and it gets extremely slippery in the rain. Could the rubber tiles be installed on top? The surface is completely flat. Is it difficult to clean? We have chickens, dogs and a cat that use the patio.
Nina Lane
Yes, these tiles can be installed on top of the ceramic tiles, as long as you don't have wide grout lines and the surface is flat. To clean, you may simply hose down these tiles with water. However, since these tiles have openings on the top, some matter may seep through the openings onto the tiles underneath. In this case, these tiles can be easily picked up and the floor underneath can be cleaned if needed.
Are the tiles flexible? I would like them to lay on a fiberglass rooftop and have concerns about the fiberglass being scratched by the tiles underneath.
Lauren DelBuono
We do not recommend using these tiles over fiberglass since the backing may scratch the floor underneath.
Can these be use on a roof ?
Yes, as long as it's a concrete/hard surface roof and not rubber.
We received samples of the rugged grip lock tile and an edge. When they are connected and placed on a flat surface, the tile and edge are not the same height; the tile sits higher than the edge. Anyone have this issue of the edging not being flush with the tile once they are installed?
Nicole R
There should not be much difference in the height of the tile and the edge. Please call us so we can help you with your issue.
Do you have edgers to match the graphite rugged gridlock tiles?
Kerri
You may use the "gray" edges that are available for purchase on the product page, listed under "Accessories".
If I was to place the tiles on a front concrete porch with just a small stoop over it, would I need to glue them down? Would they blow away if there was or wasn't any trim around the edge or glued down?
Kelly
Using an adhesive is optional. You may simply install these tiles without the glue, and the weight of the tiles will help them stay in place. However, if you see them move too much, using a pressure-sensitive adhesive will help them stay in place.
Can these be used on rubber membrane roofs like your other tiles?
Lee
We do not recommend installing these tiles over the rubber membrane. We would recommend our Soft Flex Tiles for this purpose.
How do you keep them from moving ? Is there edging or anchors?
Rick Huylebroeck
The back of the tiles has anchors that should hold it in place. Typically the weight of the interlocked tiles will prevent them from moving, but it may be a good idea to adhere the tiles on the sides to the subfloor with a heavy-duty double-sided tape just to be safe.
what inter-locking floor tile is softest on bare-feet?
sean Gilmore
The Soft Flex Tiles are recommended for the softest feel underfoot. They are constructed of a durable blend of flexible PVC.
Can we use these tiles on top of grass?
Yaritza
Yes, our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles can be installed over the grass.
Are these tiles rugged and strong enough to be used to create a parking pad for my car next to my driveway? I understand I will need to take out the grass and put down a fabric barrier and cover that with sand or crushed gravel to create a firm base.
David C Tobelman
You can install our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles over grass. When placed over grass, the tiles may sink into the soil when the soil is wet. The tiles will hold up to a car being parked and driven over them. They are made from the same material as all of our hard plastic garage tiles.
Would these work as flooring in a child’s playhouse? We plan to pour a concrete base for the playhouse but wanted to put something over top of the concrete that would be a little safer for the toddlers and something where the water would not lay on top of the concrete when it rains.
Nancy M
Although our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles will work for this application, they are not our softest solution. For a softer tile please take a look at our Soft Flex Tiles as they will be better suited for your application.
How much weight can these support if placed on concrete
Terry M
We don't have a load rating for our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles, but these tiles can withstand the weight of a car on them. They are made with the same materials used for the garage tiles.
Can grip lock tiles be used on the driveway?
Judy G
Yes, you can park a car on our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. These tiles are made from hard polypropylene plastic which is the same material all of our hard plastic garage tiles are made of.
I have a 450 sq foot rooftop and am looking to install artificial turf. I have ordered the Airdrain turf drainage tiles from your company but would these be better underneath the artificial turf instead?
olivia
Both products will work for this solution. That being said, our Airdrain Turf Drainage Tiles were specifically designed for drainage under artificial grass; making them the better choice for your application.
We just put a deck together for our hot tub. Will these tiles stain our composite deck if we install them over it?
Pamela Wright
No the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles should not stain the subfloor or deck.
Are these antimicrobial?
Don
Yes, our Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles are antimicrobial.

Self-installed in yard

I live in one of the boroughs of NYC. Our property is 80 x 100 so the back yard is not too large. We have a nice size shed and a 12' above ground pool, grill and nice outdoor furniture. The concrete was cracked and would be such a pain to replace. My husband had filled the cracks with a silicone and needless to say, it did not go with my decor.... ha ha... I would purchase a large outdoor carpet every summer to try and hide the cracks and finally decided to purchase these tiles. My husband was very concerned on how they would hold up with the winters in NY or the summers for that matter. I have to say this has been the BEST purchase ever. When it snows, we have to shovel the back and three is no issue at all as a matter of fact, it is so easy to shovel. I just said the other day,, all the sidewalks in NY should have these it makes it so easy to shovel. The freezing cold winters to not crack the tiles at all. We had a basketball hoop in the back and my son would play ball on it,, bouncing the ball like crazy on them, jumping up and down to the hoop and they have stood up beautifully. We have the tiles in the yard for at least 4 or 5 years now and they are as good as when we first bought them. We scrub them down a little when the warm weather comes and give a little shot with a power washer (on light). and they look brand new. If you are hesitant to purchase these, dont be, not matter what weather they hold up beautifully.

  I LOVE THESE TILES!
Self-installed in Balcony

I cannot say enough about how these interlocking tiles have filled the bill! We have a balcony with a view of the Hudson River. It was okay before, but the floor was concrete. Now that I have laid these tiles (forest green) it is a great pleasure to be out on the balcony! In less than an hour! We can now walk barefooted on our balcony, without discomfort. We eat our dinners out there in good weather. It feels like an extension of the apartment. Whenever we decide to relocate, I can unsnap this flooring and relocate it with us! I don't usually write reviews. but I just want to share with others the pleasure we have derived from this home improvement!

  Very Happy

This is Coki, our cat, with her litter box behind her. The flooring traps all of the kitty litter so none of it gets past this room! Any cat owner can appreciate that!
