Description - If you're a true alpha, you know that a man cave or garage isn't complete without our Diamond Plate Evolution Rubber Tiles. This rugged and masculine tile boasts a coveted diamond tread plate pattern, so you can lift like a pro without sacrificing style. Don't settle for boring gym flooring when you can have a rubber tile that looks as tough as you feel. And with the shock-absorbing properties of our Evolution Rubber Tiles, you won't have to worry about any damage to your floors, no matter how hard you train. So, go ahead and lift heavy - our Diamond Plate Evolution Rubber Tiles can take it!
Note: Due to each tile being totally black, scuff marks, scratches and foot prints will be very apparent. To help alleviate this issue, we recommend cleaning these tiles on a regular basis with a mild soap and water solution or our Rubber Floor Cleaner and Degreaser.
Material – Composed of natural rubber.
Size – 36” x 36”
Thickness – 5/8"
Weight – Each Evolution tile weighs approximately 20 Lbs.
Recommended Uses – Diamond Plate Evolution rubber tiles are the perfect flooring for home gyms, workout rooms, offices, dog kennels, doggie daycares, light duty commercial gyms, basements, rec rooms, playrooms and much more. These tiles can also be used as mats under treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight equipment or anywhere else a durable, shock absorbing rubber flooring surface would be useful.

In Stock - Ships between Jun 12 - 13

Evolution rubber tiles are extremely durable and easy to maintain. Maintenance of these interlocking tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the flooring surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the rubber tiles with a mild soap and water solution. A few recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
  • For stubborn stains and marks, scrubbing of the floor may be necessary. Floor scrubbing brushes with plastic bristles provide the best results.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Installation of interlocking tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Typical installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
  • Snap a chalk line on the sub floor 24” from one wall in your room. Snap another chalk line on the subfloor 24” from an adjacent wall. You should now have a pair of perpendicular lines making an approximate 90-degree angle.
  • Begin laying the interlocking tiles along the chalk lines, snapping the locks together as you go.
  • Leave the perimeter of the room open until the field is installed.
  • After the field is covered, go back and cut in lines along the walls in the room. Leaving a gap at the wall roughly the thickness of tiles being used is recommended to account for expansion and contraction of the floor tiles in varied temperature ranges.
Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

If going wall-to-wall, can the Evolution rubber tiles be cut to fit?
Mark
Our 5/8" Diamond Plate Evolution Rubber Tiles can be easily cut with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.
If I am moving and want to take the tiles, what is the process for taking them apart, or is this not recommended?
Removing our 5/8" Diamond Plate Evolution Rubber Tiles is a synch. All you have to do is pull the tiles up.
If installing a home gym on top of plush carpet, do I still need to put down a subfloor first (i.e., tiles on plywood), or can I lay the tiles directly on carpet?
Andrew
Our 5/8" Diamond Plate Evolution Rubber Tiles can be installed easily over low pile commercial carpet. Over plush carpet, we do recommend placing a 1/4" plywood boards over the carpet to prevent the tiles from separating when the pad underneath the carpet depresses.

  Good for weight room
Self-installed in Home gym

It depends what you want to use the product for. If you want a floor for a weight room its a 5 star. If you do the p90x standing kick boxing, then it will work fine. If you do any floor work, yoga, etc, it will tear you up because its rough. You will need a yoga mat on top of it. It was hard to put down, you will have raw hands afterwards. You have to push hard to drop the holes over the plug to get it to hook. The smell will go away in a couple of months. Mopping between the cracks is a pain in the rear. Water gets down between the cracks and will not give you a fresh clean look. If I could find something without the cracks and a little softer I would buy that product. So this could rate between a 3 or 5 star, its really depends on what you need if for.

Excellent product, but difficult to put together

I was looking for a clean, quality, commercial-grade type of floor for my workout room in the basement of my home and these rubber tiles are absolutely perfect. The quality is outstanding...the tiles give you plenty of grip for various exercises while having just enough ″give″ to them so as to not cause foot or joint fatigue. (BTW, I placed my tiles directly onto the concrete floor in my basement.) Because of the shape of my room, I had to cut several of them in order to fit tightly and cleanly against the walls, but with a sharp carpet knife, it was easy to do. My only gripe about these tiles is that they were VERY difficult to ″snap″ together. As you know, these tiles have a male and a female edge to them, and I couldn't believe how hard it was to get the rubber male knobs to fit into the female openings. I thought they would just snap together and all would be good, but since you are dealing with rubber, things didn't line up perfectly every time so it took a lot of pushing, pulling, and prying in order to get each knob to connect to its corresponding opening in the other tile. Ended up with a couple of blisters on my thumbs from pushing down. I also used a rubber mallet which helped at times. You see, if you don't get every knob snapped in its place, then you will not end up with a nice smooth/flat transition from one tile to the next. Since I do a lot of lunges, steps, and jumps in my workouts, I wanted to have a smooth floor with no chances of tripping or catching my shoe on the lip of one tile that might be a bit higher than the other one. But eventually I got them all put together and it looks great. (Plus, as a guy, I actually like the rubber smell that these new tiles give off, but I'm guessing that will fade away over time.) So...all that to say that while I am extremely pleased with the way my floor turned out, I was just frustrated by how difficult it was to fit or ″snap″ all the tiles together. Overall, I would still highly recommend these tiles if you have a workout room that needs an awesome floor; these are high-quality, heavy-duty, commercial-grade tiles.
