Flex Nitro Tiles Installation, Care, and Maintenance

Installation Instructions:

Preparation:

• Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of debris.

Layout:

• Plan the layout of the tiles before starting the installation. Begin from the center of the room and work outward for an even appearance.
• Leave a 1/2" gap between the tiles and the walls, columns, cabinets, or any other fixed object. The tiles should sit snugly against each other — the gap belongs at the perimeter, not between the tiles.

Cutting Tiles:

• Use a utility knife to trim tiles to fit around edges and corners. Measure carefully for a precise fit.

Installation:

• Place the tiles snugly against each other without gaps. Flex Nitro Tiles are designed to interlock securely, so no adhesives are necessary.
• For stability, you can use double-sided tape along the perimeter if desired.

Finishing Touches:

• Walk over the tiles after installation to ensure they are locked into place.

Why the gap matters:

Flex Nitro Tiles are a floating floor. Flexible PVC expands and contracts as garage temperatures swing between summer and winter, so the floor is built to move as one sheet rather than being fixed down. Two things make that work: every joint in the interlock carries a designed-in tolerance, and the 1/2" perimeter gap gives the whole field somewhere to go. Leaving no gap at the walls is what makes a tile floor lift at the edges.

Care and Maintenance

Regular Cleaning:

• Sweep or vacuum any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the tiles as needed.
  
• Occasionally damp mop the tiles with a mild soap and water mixture. Common soaps include Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
  

Protecting the Surface:

• Each tile is coated with a protectant silicone sealant. Scuffs or scratches may occur during installation or when moving large objects. To reduce the appearance of scratches, consider using Armstrong’s Shine Keeper.

Stain Management: 

• Flex Nitro Tiles are not stain-proof. Street tar can stain light-colored tiles but can often be removed with a cleaner called Purple Power.
• If you have performance tires, they may stain light-colored tiles. To address tire marks, you may need to replace the affected tiles or use darker tiles to disguise the stains. If stains persist, please contact Customer Service at (866) 416-6388 for assistance.

General Tips:

• Regularly inspect the tiles for signs of wear or damage.
• Address spills promptly to prevent staining.
