Installation
When installing rolled rubber flooring, it is important to choose the right installation method for your project. The most common methods of adhering rubber rolls to the subfloor are:
A: Double-Sided Tape Installation
- Ensure that the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of any debris.
- Loosely lay the rubber rolls in the room to achieve your desired layout. Allow the rolls to relax for 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation.
- Note: Rolls may be directional, so make sure the color matches on each roll. If the roll colors do not match, flip them or turn them 180 degrees to ensure the color matches.
- Cut the rubber rolls to fit the room using a straight edge and a utility knife with a fresh blade. Leave a gap around the perimeter roughly the thickness of the rolls being used to account for expansion and contraction.
- Roll up the rubber rolls at one end of the room. Apply double-sided tape to the subfloor along the perimeter of each roll.
- Place the rubber rolls back into position on top of the double-sided tape.
B: Glue Installation
- Ensure that the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of any debris or moisture.
- Loosely lay the rubber rolls in the room to achieve your desired layout. Allow the rolls to relax for 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation.
- Note: Rolls may be directional, so make sure the color matches on each roll. If the roll colors do not match, flip them or turn them 180 degrees to ensure the color matches.
- Cut the rubber rolls to fit the room using a straight edge and a utility knife with a fresh blade. Leave a gap around the perimeter roughly the thickness of the rolls being used to account for expansion and contraction.
- Roll up the rubber rolls at one end of the room. Spread a light layer of polyurethane adhesive that is 10 feet long (maximum) and unroll the flooring into the adhesive 10 feet at a time.
- Repeat step 5 for every 10 feet of roll length until the entire roll has been unrolled into its desired position.
- After all of the rolls have been glued down, it is recommended to use a 100-pound roller on the floor to guarantee good adherence to the subfloor. If a roller is not available, walking on the flooring in small choppy steps may also work.
Care & Maintenance
Keeping your Rubber Rolls clean and looking their best is easy with these simple maintenance tips:
- Sweep or vacuum loose debris regularly to prevent buildup and minimize the risk of slips and falls.
- For a deeper clean, simply damp mop the rubber rolls with a mild soap and water solution. We recommend using Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
- Do not use any solvent or oil-based cleaners like Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy's Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, or similar products. These cleaners can break down the flooring over time and cause damage.

Do you carry outdoor rubber rolls? If so what is the largest you carry I would need (1) 21'x 21' ?
All of our rubber rolls can be used outdoors. For the size you are looking for, we would suggest our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. Here you can cut the rolls to your desired length. The rolls are 4' wide so you will need 5 rolls to cover area 21' long or you can go with 4 rolls which will be a little less than your area at 21' long.

Our 8mm Pre Cut Rubber Rolls and many of our rubber flooring products have been installed on walls for protection. To get these rolls to stick to the walls, we recommend using our Polyurethane adhesive.

Our 8mm Pre Cut Rubber Rolls can be installed over concrete and any solid flat surface. When installing over vinyl, there is potential for the rubber flooring to stain the vinyl, so we typically don't recommend rubber over it.
Was this helpful?Can your rubber flooring be laid over hardwood flooring? And is there a way to secure it without using carpet tape? I would be hesitant to use double-sided tape on the hardwood that is currently in the room.
You can install our 8mm Pre Cut Rubber Rolls over hardwood flooring. Installing our rubber flooring over hardwood will not stain it. If you are concerned it will, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the rubber flooring. These rubber rolls are pretty heavy, so for most installations, no tape or glue is necessary.

I've had two rubber rolls laid down for a month and my only wish is that I had ordered more. I laid the rubber rolls down, edge to edge and they haven't budged. I've moved some heavy pieces of gym equipment around on them -- one Powertec workbench and leg press -- no pieces of rubber came up, no movement from the mats and even after a couple weeks, no depressions in the rubber mats from the equipment. I'm really impressed and plan to buy more in the future.

I installed about 400 sq ft of the 8mm pre cut rolls in 2 gym rooms in my house. The first room I did was last weekend in my loft. I did most of it myself and wasnt too hard to do. I just finished the second room (a bedroom being used as additional space for gym equipment) which I did entirely myself in about 3 hours. The rolls are HEAVY!! I had 25ft rolls, and according to the shipping info, it was about 200lbs per roll, so it would be nice to have a second person available just for moving/positioning the rolls, but it can be done alone, including carrying upstairs.. I did use the carpet tape in areas where I wasnt getting a perfectly flat surface across the top of the rubber. I purchased the tape from home depot rather than buying it online with the rubber flooring. The tape helped some, but wasnt great.. maybe the tape offered by rubberfloringinc.com is better?? In real problem areas, I used a small amount of calk to hold it down (setting a weight on top of it to dry overnight.) The one main issue i had was the terribly crooked cuts on the ends of the rolls. Each factory cut end had at least 1" of a variance to it, and one with almost 3" variance, so I had to cut a straight edge, and lose a couple of inches off of each roll doing so.. not a huge deal, but would have been nice if I could have just started with a straight edge from the factory. All sides (width edges) were cut very straight and lined up well. Also, unlike other reviews, I did not find it particularly easy to cut the rubber. I went through 4 carpet blades between the two rooms in order to work with as sharp of a blade as possible, and still found it easiest to score the rubber multiple times until I was all the way through it. If I did one hard cut all the way through, the force needed to get through the 8mm rubber was great enough that I was not able to as straight of a cut. Once I found the best technique, it wasnt hard to cut a nice straight edge, but it was a little time consuming. Overall the floor looks great, most seems are hardly visible, and the quality feels great. I gave it 4 stars due to the incredibly crooked cuts at the ends of the rolls from the factory. Aside from this small issue, Im very happy, and I highly recommend using the sealant. It definitely gives a nice look to the rubber once it is done.

We used this product for an outdoor activation with a lot of foot traffic. Installed very easily, and does not appear to have major expansion and contraction due to weather changes. Highly recommend it and actually used some at home for an exercise area for the family!
