Installation
Installation Instructions
Installing Mateflex II tiles is straightforward and DIY-friendly:
Prepare the Subfloor: Ensure the surface is clean, free of dirt, dust, grease, or other debris.
Begin Installation: Start in one corner of the area, positioning the female side (loops) of the first tile away from the wall.
Lay Out the Tiles: Arrange the tiles in a perpendicular pattern, covering the entire area according to your design.
Cutting for Edges: When you encounter edges, walls, or obstacles, measure the space and trim the tiles using a sharp utility knife, tile cutter, or table saw. Leave a 3/4” gap between the tiles and any surrounding structures for expansion and contraction.
Edge Installation: Once all tiles are in place, snap in the edge pieces if purchased.
Game Line Application
For game line marking:
- Use painter's tape or 3M 2060 tape to outline the lines.
- Apply a two-part polyurethane paint for a durable finish.

- Routine Cleaning: Sweep away any loose dust, dirt, or debris from the tiles as needed.
- Deeper Cleaning: For tougher dirt or stains, hose off or damp mop the tiles using a mild soap and water mixture.

Can you install on top of grass?
Although we have had customers successfully install over grass, we recommend installing over a solid surface. The reason for this is the grass could become unstable and shift in the rain.

Our Mateflex II tiles are recommended for sports purposes, please see our Mateflex III tiles which are made from the same material as our standard hard plastic garage flooring and can be used for your purpose as well as for sports. However, we do have a great assortment of garage tiles, please feel free to check them out on our sites. Nitro Tiles are our most popular garage tiles!
