Our 7/8" Tatami Foam Tiles offer an extra-thick interlocking and portable foam mat designed for use in mixed martial arts training where shock absorption and impact protection is important. These reversible textured foam tiles provide a unique surface appearance meant to mimic Japanese tatami mats. Each Tatami Foam Tile is made of durable kid-safe, non-toxic EVA foam, which is waterproof, stain-resistant, easy to clean, and sanitize. EVA also acts as an excellent insulator against sound and temperature transmission. 2 edge pieces are included with each tile so that any tile may be used as an edge or corner.
Material: Durable closed cell EVA foam.
Size: Two size options - 24" x 24" or 36" x 36" tiles.
Recommended Uses: 7/8" Tatami Foam Tiles are designed to provide a safe and shock absorbing training surface for a variety of mixed martial arts. Some ways these durable interlocking foam tiles have been used include: as grappling mats, Judo mats, MMA mats, Jiu-jitsu mats, Karate mats, Taekwondo mats, Goza mats, Aikido mats, and as general dojo flooring.
Please note: Foam products can be punctured by sharp animal nails, rough use, high heels, and moving furniture. Waves in tiles may not line up if laid in the same direction.Removable corner can become a choking hazard.
Installation of 7/8" Tatami Foam Tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Tiles can be lain in the same direction or crisscross. 2 edge pieces are included with each tile. Typical installation of these easy-to-install interlocking tiles is as follows:
First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
Start in one corner of the room with a corner tile and add border tiles outward along the adjacent walls. Add center, corner, and border tiles where you see fit.
When coming up to an opposite wall, make sure you cut the tiles to fit the area leaving a gap that’s roughly the thickness of the tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction of the floor tiles in varied temperature ranges.
Please Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked-together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.
7/8" Tatami Foam Tiles are easy to clean and maintain. These shock absorbing interlocking foam tiles are constructed of durable closed cell EVA foam which means liquids cannot penetrate the surface of the tiles.
If the 7/8" Foam Tatami Tiles do get something spilled on them or appear dirty, all that is necessary to clean them is to do a quick wipe of the foam floor surface with a damp cloth and your Tatami Mats will look like new.
