Our 5 mm pre-cut rubber underlayment offers superior sound insulation at the best price. 5 mm rubber underlayment has been shown to outperform all leading forms of underlayment including 12 mm cork and 12 mm foam. Rubber is great to use in areas that are at and above grade and is a great underlayment in areas where water may be present. This flooring underlayment is also mold and mildew resistant which is due to the fact that rubber does not hold water. This sound proofing underlayment can also be installed directly over concrete or wood and does not have to be adhered to the system via adhesive. You can also float the underlayment in a free floating assembly.

I’m wondering about the fire rating. I would like to use it on a floor with another suite below. Is the 5mm rubber underlay considered a suitable fire separation?
Our 5mm Pre-Cut Rubber Underlayment has a Class III fire rating. Depending on your municipalities building codes will determine if this product is suitable for reducing fire risk.

Any of our rubber rolls will have an odor due to the nature of the material. If the odor is too strong or there are smell sensitivities, you can clean the rolls with a mild soap and water solution to help dissipate the smell.

You can install our 5mm Pre-Cut Rubber Underlayment over a Schluter system like Ditra. You would follow the instructions for installing the Schluter product and the underlayment for the flooring type you are trying to install.

- 5 out of 5 starsExcellent and NEEDED item for your flooring project, especially if you use the polymer tiles.
This product arrived several weeks ago, as I was lining up materials to re-do my old (1954) worn and uneven garage floor. The plan was the PP snap together tiles--originally thought Nitro Pro, but ended up with the Octane HD, as they were a bit more of a matte finish, and I was worried that tires would eventually wear the shine off. Then I read on Flooring Inc's website that I should have a layer of underlayment to keep the noise down (from walking on the tiles) but to me, more importantly, to hold the completed floor in place. Imagine my surprise when the stated length/width was almost 48" in the width measurement (I would allow a few 32nds for cutting square, BUT, the rolls were over 27 feet long! That was a nice surprise! So, the first 25% of the rubber matting is down and it went SO easily. Easy to cut, and, while the entire roll was heavy, once it was rolled out, I could move it by myself (I'm 79 and NOT a bodybuilder!), especially the narrower strips I needed to cut off. My garage is only 11 feet wide. The best part was that it unrolled and LAY FLAT on the floor---I was worried that it might take a "set" and need some time to "relax." I now need to put the diamond tread linoleum on the rubber matting I just put down, and then a new freezer, old fridge and freezer will be placed on OSB on top of the matting, and the Diamond Plate roll linoleum will go down, followed by the three appliances. I initially thought to do the entire floor in the Octane HD tiles, but, I would've needed a sheet of plywood under the appliances, so I decided to do the front 3 feet in the OSB, and the rest of the floor in the tiles. ALL over the 5 mm rubber matting, which, as mentioned, is superb in every way! Finally, it was easy to order from Flooring Inc, and the matting actually shipped ahead of their date. The worst part was (luckily!) the three rolls were packaged (well!) separately, and while the FedEx young man put each on my front porch, I had to get each roll onto a wheelbarrow to take down around he outside of my house, and into the under-house garage!

Needed a floor to prevent oil spills on asphalt. This one worked great for the most part. It had pores in it though, which was unexpected. It also broke off easily.
