Description - The 8 mm (5/16" thick) custom cut Strong Rubber Rolls are a great, all-around product for both consumer and commercial clients. The thickness is our most popular, perfect for a 'do it all' product. This rubber roll flooring option has been designed for customers looking for a product thicker than our 1/4" thick residential rubber rolls yet thinner than the 3/8" commercial grade rolls. The 8 mm rolled rubber offers a low price for homeowners looking for more "cushion" than the 1/4" residential grade rolled rubber. For commercial use, the 8 mm thick rolled rubber is a durable flooring option with the ability to withstand all but the most extreme use. An additional perk is that this rubber flooring comes complete with an industry-leading full 5-year warranty.
Material – Recycled rubber buffings and colored EPDM virgin rubber flecks. Recycled rubber buffings are the “Filet Mignon” of the recycled rubber industry since they are the cleanest, strongest, and most consistent raw material as compared to some of the cheap recycled crumb rubber alternatives available.
Width – 4' wide per roll
Length – The 8mm rubber rolls are custom cut to each customer’s desired length. This feature is free of charge, provided that each roll length is at least 15’ or longer and ordered in whole increments (i.e., 15’, 16’, 17’, etc.). It is normal to receive extra inches on each roll as this allows for quick and easy installation.
Thickness – 8mm (Approx. 5/16")
Weight – 2.2 Lbs. per square foot.
Recommended Uses – The 8 mm roll is the perfect flooring solution that offers a nonslip surface and anti-fatigue qualities. Custom cut 8 mm Strong Rubber Rolls are excellent in a variety of locations: home gyms, commercial weight rooms, fitness facilities, under exercise equipment, basement and playroom flooring, pet care facilities, locker room flooring (where spike protection might be needed), and fit nicely over radiant heated floor systems. The rubber rolls are also used outside, providing a protected, nonslip surface on decks, patios, boats, and boat docks. This rubber flooring choice is truly the all-around, do it all flooring solution.
Note: – The Confetti and Natural colors are made from post-industrial recycled rubber. Confetti is a mix of multiple colors with random color percentages. Natural is standard rubber products and recycled white wall car tires. As a result, the shade and color may vary in these two options.
Note: – Due to a recent material change, the shade of lipstick red may vary from previous orders.

Keeping your 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls clean and looking their best is easy with these simple maintenance tips:
  • Sweep or vacuum loose debris regularly to prevent buildup and minimize the risk of slips and falls.
  • For a deeper clean, simply damp mop the rubber rolls with a mild soap and water solution. We recommend using Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
  • Do not use any solvent or oil-based cleaners like Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy's Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, or similar products. These cleaners can break down the flooring over time and cause damage.

When installing rolled rubber flooring, it is important to choose the right installation method for your project. The most common methods of adhering rubber rolls to the subfloor are:

A: Double-Sided Tape Installation
  1. Ensure that the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of any debris.
  2. Loosely lay the rubber rolls in the room to achieve your desired layout. Allow the rolls to relax for 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation.
  3. Note: Rolls may be directional, so make sure the color matches on each roll. If the roll colors do not match, flip them or turn them 180 degrees to ensure the color matches.
  4. Cut the rubber rolls to fit the room using a straight edge and a utility knife with a fresh blade. Leave a gap around the perimeter roughly the thickness of the rolls being used to account for expansion and contraction.
  5. Roll up the rubber rolls at one end of the room. Apply double-sided tape to the subfloor along the perimeter of each roll.
  6. Place the rubber rolls back into position on top of the double-sided tape.

B: Glue Installation
  1. Ensure that the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of any debris or moisture.
Spread a light layer of polyurethane adhesive that is 10 feet long (maximum) and unroll the flooring into the adhesive 10 feet at a time.
  6. Repeat step 5 for every 10 feet of roll length until the entire roll has been unrolled into its desired position.
  7. After all of the rolls have been glued down, it is recommended to use a 100-pound roller on the floor to guarantee good adherence to the subfloor. If a roller is not available, walking on the flooring in small choppy steps may also work.

Don't see what you're looking for?
I was wondering how your product would hold up to being put in a horse trailer. Our horses weigh an average of 1000 lbs and of course would have horse shoes on. The price of rubber stall mats is through the roof and we really like the price of your flooring. Thank you in advance for any help in this matter.
Enos Troyer
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would be able to handle the weight of horses on it in your horse trailer.
Can the 8mm rolls be layed over concrete basement floors?
Bob
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over concrete basement floors. These rubber rolls are resistant to mold and mildew growth and are water resistant. This makes these rubber rolls perfect for any basement floor.
Are these mats "no smell"?
George
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls do have a smell to them. Since they are made from rubber, it does smell like rubber. This smell will dissipate on its own over a few weeks. To help dissipate the rubber smell faster, we would recommend mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution and then letting it air dry. You may have to repeat this process a few times. Ventilation is key, so if you can put fans in the area where the flooring will be installed and open some window, it will speed up the process as well.
Can water based adhesives be easily removed from the surface of this flooring?
Anonymous
Water-based adhesives can be easily removed from our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. We recommend not using any acetone or other harsh chemicals as they will destroy the rubber. With some soap, water, and elbow grease, you should be able to remove most water-based adhesives with ease.
Need new flooring for a bar. Lots of spills. Mopped almost daily. Was thinking rubber as less glass breakage and not slippery when wet. But will it hold up to bar stools and booze spills??
Mark
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are very durable and would be able to handle stools on them and beer being spilled on them. Rubber is more slip resistant when wet, so it will work perfect for your application. We would recommend using furniture sliders under the stools so they can be moved easier.
I have a new concrete floor in the gym area we are building. Do we need to put a vapor barrier under the tiles?
Rick Meade
You would not need to put a vapor barrier under our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. If you do have a moisture issue, you can either seal your concrete or place a vapor barrier under the flooring. But it is not required. Our rubber rolls are mold and mildew resistant making them great for any area that may have moisture issues.
I have a 2 car garage, one side for exercising, one side for the car (car doesn’t leak but in the winter in NJ the car will come in and snow and road salt wil drip as it melts off the car) 8mm ok for that application? I can also put a Cover on the floor under the car in the winters to protect it from staining.
Marc
You can use our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls in a garage gym where a car will be parked. The only issues will occur when oil is spilled on the roll from your car. Outside of that, these rubber rolls will perform well in this environment.
What about a food truck? Would this product be a good (sanitary) flooring option for easy cleaning, non-absorbant surface?
JD
You can use our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls in a food truck. These rubber rolls are very easy to clean and maintain and are mold and mildew resistant. To keep these rolls truly sanitary at all times, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer to seal the floor. This will seal the pores in the floor and prevent any dirt and debris from getting caught in the rubber.
Can the rubber rolls be placed directly on porcelain ceramic tiles without staining them?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over any hard, flat surface. So these rubber rolls can be installed over porcelain and ceramic tiles, concrete, plywood, asphalt, and the like with ease. These rolls would not stain tile flooring.
What is the best solution to giving the black with red specks a wet look?
GG
To add a shine or sheen to our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls, we recommend applying our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer to your floor. This will give you that 'wet look' or shine that some people are looking for. For proper care and application of our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer, please follow the instructions on the bottle.
Do you recommend putting the mat over granite tiles?
Anonymous
Rubber flooring should not be placed directly over granite flooring as it could possibly stain. You can try putting down a tarp or plastic sheeting in between the rubber and the granite while in use, but we do not recommend leaving anything on your granite tiles.
What is the STC rating for sound transmission of this product? I'm considering using it for a soundproofing element in a wall.
CHRIS
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are not rated for sound transmission, but you can use them to help with soundproofing. If you are wanting something that is sound rate tested, then we would recommend checking out our wide range of rubber underlays that will give you the proper sound reduction that you are looking for.
I need to cover a floor in my house that is set with handmade Saltillo clay tiles. The tiles have a slightly domed surface and wide grout lines that make the surface somewhat irregular. It’s for our home gym, but we won’t have machines or heavy weights. What do you recommend- tiles or rolled flooring? What thickness?
Joel Chandler
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls will install easily over this type of floor. If you want your flooring to be totally flat, we would recommend adding 1/4" plywood over the tiles.
Do the rolls curl or buckle? Do you have to have adhesive? If so, what kind and how much?
Sherilyn Thiel
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls will not curl or buckle. As long as they are installed properly, you shouldn't have any issues. The only time we see any buckling would be from an improperly installed installation. Our rubber flooring will expand and contract, so we recommend placing an 8mm (5/16") expansion gap around the flooring to ensure proper expansion and contraction. For most residential applications, no glue or tape is needed to install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. They are heavy enough on their own to stay in place. If a particular exercise move caused a roll to move for some reason, you could add some double-sided tape under the roll. For commercial applications, we do recommend using double-sided tape or polyurethane adhesive to keep the rolls in place. In this situation, you could get away without using either, but because there could be a number of exercises performed on the flooring, we recommend a little bit of hold, so you don't have to go back later to add it.
Will this mat hold up on the bottom of floor in boat. Is it slippery when wet.
boat floor
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed as flooring in a boat. A great property of rubber flooring is that it is more slip resistant when wet. So you will be in a safer situation with these rolls as your flooring vs. other flooring types. The only things you may notice is that the rolls may fade in the direct sunlight and that there may be some salts that embed themselves in the pores of the floor depending on what type of water this boat is going.
How do you advise adhering the rubber mat down to the floor?
Shari Goldberg
For most home gym installations, you can use double sided tape to adhere our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls to the subfloor. For commercial installations, we recommend using glue to install the rubber to the subfloor.
Could you please recommend which your rubber rolls can be use in direct sunlight for many years. I am planning to use it as roof shringles in my house. Thanks
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be laid in direct sunlight for many years. The only thing you will see, as with anything, there will be some fading. Other than that, these rolls will be able to withstand the daily onslaught presented in an outdoor environment.
I am looking for flooring for our dog daycare. Have you had anyone use the 8mm for this type of application?
Matt Dinwiddie
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls have been used in doggy daycares. We recommend sealing the flooring with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer and using our Seam Sealer glue at the seams. This will help to protect the floor and keep any urine from getting into the small pores in the floor and under.
Is there anyway to get the 8mm products in 1 seamless 7 foot wide by 16 foot long piece? I have an enclosed trailer and would like to cover the entire floor area.
Tim
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls only come in a 4' wide roll.
I would like to lay down 2 strips of 15' next to each other for a work area within a room. They would not be laid wall to wall however. It would be over concrete. Will these mats slide around if they were used for plyometric type workouts not being wall to wall?
Sara Esser
In most cases, our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would be heavy enough to not move while doing your Plyometric exercises. In the rare chance that there were to be some movement, you can use some double sided tape underneath the rolls to keep them in place.
Can I lay your rubber flooring on top of finished hardwood floors without ruining the finish?
Stafford
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over hardwood flooring without ruining the finish in most instances. If you are concerned about the rubber ruining the hardwood flooring underneath, we recommend placing a plastic sheet underneath the rubber flooring.
If you put a weight stack on this, is anything needed so as to not leave a permanent compression in this flooring?
Bryan
Depending on the weight and how long the weight stack is on the floor determines if a permanent indentation will occur. For most home gym installations, a weight stack on our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls won't have a permanent indentation. For commercial installations, it is very likely there will be an indentation. There really isn't a great way to prevent a weight stack from leaving indentations. You could use furniture sliders, but you run the risk of the weight stack being unstable.
Would this type of rolled flooring work in a residential kitchen?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would work perfectly in a home kitchen. These rolls are very durable and slip resistant when wet and are easy to clean and maintain. All you would need to do to keep them clean is vacuum any large dirt and debris and mop the floor with a mild soap and water solution. We recommend using a synthetic mop when doing so.
Can this be used to cover a concrete block patio?
Vivian
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be used to cover a concrete block patio. These rolls are resistant to mold, mildew, and water and are very easy to clean and maintain. If the roll is exposed to direct sunlight, the roll may fade a bit.
I have an exterior door way that is plywood and concrete board. I need to cover 2' 6" x 8' will this work outside in extreme cold and extreme heat? Also would I need to buy the 15' roll or do you have short pieces? How wide are the rolls?
Dave
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed outdoors. They are made from the same material your tires are made out of, so they will be able to handle extreme heat and cold. The minimum cut length for these rolls is 15' long and the width of the roll is 4'.
Does your rubber flooring contain latex? or can you tell me what the flooring is exactly made of or what materials/chemicals it may contain.
Dena
Contains recycled rubber and EPDM colored rubber flecks. We do offer latex free rubber products for those who have latex allergies.
Do you think this flooring is appropriate for a daycare indoor gym? I would like to find something that is stain resistant, easy to clean and lasts a while.
Malissa
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would be perfect for a daycare indoor gym. These rolls are stain resistant and are also mold and mildew resistant. Our rubber flooring is also slipped resistant whether wet or dry and will help to deaden kids falls.
To your knowledge, has this been used in a boxing gym? My concern is that it will be too sticky and offer too much resistance when you have to twist your feet for certain punches.
cd
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls have been used in boxing gyms, MMA studios, and much more. These rolls will not get sticky and will provide the right amount of slip resistance needed even when wet from sweat or other liquids.
Could you install this over a berber carpet (low pile) in a basement?
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over a low pile commercial grade Berber carpet in a basement. These rolls are very easy to clean and maintain and are resistant to mold and mildew growth. If there were a flooding event, these rolls are very easy to remove, clean, and replace ensuring a long-lasting floor in your basement.
I want to use this for a 5.5 x 5.5 whelping area (dogs). How easy is this material to cut?
Jewel Calton
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are very easy to cut with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. With a sharp utility knife, these rolls cut like butter.
Would a chair with rollers be able to roll around easily?
Greg
You can easily roll around in a chair on our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. Our rubber flooring is used quite often in offices as a slip-resistant, easy to maintain floor.
Hi, I was wondering if this product can be used outside for kids to play and so they don't get hurt if they fall. Would it work for that?
james
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be used as flooring for play areas outdoors. These rolls are very easy to clean and maintain and also very slip resistant even when wet. They are mold and mildew resistant and will provide your play area with added bounce and comfort. These rolls are not fall-height rated, so they will not prevent major injury if a child were to fall from any height. These rolls are also not UV stable, so they will fade a bit in direct sunlight.
Any reason NOT to use rubber on a residential kitchen floor?
Victoria C. KOPPEL
You can use our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls as a kitchen floor. Our rubber flooring is very slip resistant and more slip resistant when wet, so you won't have to worry about slipping if some water were to get on the floor unlike when you have a tile or vinyl floor. Rubber is also shock absorbent, so if you were to drop something, it is more than likely to bounce rather than shatter into a million pieces. Now, rubber flooring is somewhat porous, so if you were to spill something and let it dry out, some of the dried up material might get in the floor, but not through. To prevent this, we recommend sealing the rubber flooring with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will keep all the great benefits of having a rubber floor while making your rubber floor easier to clean and maintain.
I am building a couple of Rolle Bolle courts in the basement of my establishment. The existing floor is concrete. Rolle Bolle is a Belgian game that is usually played on a hard clay type surface. I am looking for something that can be replicated that as close as possible short of filling my basement with dirt. You can google Rolle Bolle and see what I am talking about. Can rubber flooring be used for this?
DARRELL RAKESTRAW
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would be a great alternative to clay for a Rolle Bolle court. These rubber rolls are dense enough to allow the Bolle to roll properly.
Can this be rolled out and up easily? If it's installed on a garage floor, can it withstand the weight of the vehicle without deforming? Can it be washed easily?
Peter O'Karma
Depending on the size of roll you purchase rolling and putting away our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be pretty easy. You can park a car over our rubber rolls. The car would not indent the rubber rolls. These rolls are used in commercial gyms that have heavy equipment on them and are not deformed typically by this equipment. You can wash our rubber flooring very easily with a damp synthetic mop and a mild soap and water solution. Also, in a garage, you can hose our rubber flooring down without destroying it. You would then just let the floor air dry.
Can your product be placed on a dirt floor in a basement?
Debra Brock
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over a dirt floor in a basement. We would recommend the dirt floor to be flat as possible so that there are no inherent tripping hazards from installing the rolls over it.
Can this floor be installed directly over an existing vinyl floor? The floor is going to be used for a pediatric physical therapy clinic.
santiago restrepo
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over an existing vinyl floor if you don't care about using the vinyl flooring as the main flooring surface going forward. Vinyl and rubber typically don't mix. Vinyl won't cause any issues to the rubber flooring, but the rubber flooring can potentially stain the vinyl. This process happens over a period of time and would make the vinyl unusable.
Is this rubber vulcanized?
jojo
No, it is not.
I want to use the black 8mm strong rubber rolls for my home gym equipment. I have a Roman Chair, Smith Press, and other heavy equipment. Will the black be as sturdy as the colored rolls?
Tawni M Orr
No matter if you use our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles in Black or Color, the durability of the tiles does not change. These tiles were designed to be used in home and commercial gyms and can withstand the weight of gym equipment.
Will this work in the kitchen of a coffee cafe?
Roger L Bishop
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can work as flooring in a commercial kitchen. These rolls are very slip resistant and are resistant to mold and mildew growth. Since these rolls are somewhat porous, we do recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer on the floor to create a non-porous floor. Cleaning of our rubber flooring is very easy with the use of a mild soap and water solution and a synthetic mop.
Is the 8mm rubber flooring able to be laid over unfinished OSB subfloor in a seasonal cabin that has extreme humidity in summer and extreme cold in the winter? It will not be heated in the winter. The whole building is insulated with spray foam, including the floor.
SB
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over any hard, flat surface such as concrete, plywood, OSB, and the like. These rolls can be installed both indoors and out, and will not be affected by any moisture.
Would this flooring be useable as a handicap shower floor (wheelchair accessible)?
Bill
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls could be used as flooring in a shower. These rubber rolls are very slip resistant and are more slip-resistant when wet. Since these rolls are somewhat porous, any leftover dirt and grime can get caught in the small pores on the surface. You can seal the floor with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer, or you can leave the flooring unsealed and just disinfect the flooring from time to time with our Gym Floor Disinfectant. Cleaning of our rubber flooring is very easy with the use of a mild soap and water solution.
Can vinyl cutouts be applied and sealed to this to create sensory mats for children?
You can apply vinyl cutouts on our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. If for some reason, the cutouts don't adhere properly, you can add further adhesive to the stickers. We recommend using polyurethane or wood glue.
Can 8mm flooring be used outdoors for dog run?
Mary
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls have been used as flooring for dog runs. These rolls provide ample traction and comfort underfoot for dogs as they are making the different turns, jumps, and other skills.
How do you join two rolls on the long edges, so you don't get 'gaposis' along the seam?
callmeBob
So our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls and all of our rolled rubber flooring is approximately 4' wide, but are not exactly that. So to create a seam that won't have gaps here and there what we recommend is to place one roll on top of the other to get the seam as straight as possible. The overlap on this doesn't have to be very large, a few inches at best. Once the seam is straight, you can use some double-sided tape under the rolls or place some seam sealer glue between the seam. Both methods will ensure that the rolls will not gap. You can also just use our seam sealer in conjunction with the double-sided tape without cutting the seams straight to keep them from gapping. The tape will keep the rolls in place and the seam sealer glue will lock and fill in the flooring.
Can your product be placed over an uneven basement floor (previously some type of vinyl, now removed), without damaging the rubber? Which thickness would you recommend? Subfloor variance is about 1/2". Thanks!
David
If the peaks and the valleys in your subfloor are a 1/2" in height, then depending on where the tiles interlock, they may not interlock properly. Also, there is potential that if a peak if super sharp, it could puncture the tile if enough pressure is applied. We would recommend if you have major peaks and valleys in your subfloor that you fill in any valleys with a leveling compound. For any peaks, we would suggest grinding or sanding them down.
Is this ok to put on top of a rubber roof on a balcony?
Jennifer Connors
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over a rubber roof. These rubber rolls are very slip resistant and are more slip-resistant when wet. These rolls are very easy to clean and maintain and are resistant to mold and mildew growth. The only thing that you will notice is that the rubber will fade a bit in direct sunlight.
I want to get a floor for my basketball gym. I want to not slip as much as concrete, and I want it to not hurt my knees and shins so much running and jumping on concrete. Is this what I want?
andy swanson
We don't typically recommend our rubber flooring as flooring for a basketball court as the coefficient of friction is really high. This can cause more injuries due to the high level of traction. We do offer a wide range of court floors that are perfect for both indoor and outdoor use that can be paired with a rubber underlay that will help you get all of the things you desire from your new floor. You can find the products on our Court Flooring page and the rubber underlay can be found on the accessories section for the different products.
Do they make transition strips for your rubber roll material?
Stephen purdue
We do offer a wide range of trim pieces that can be used with our rubber flooring. You can find all of the trim that we offer on our trims and molding page.
Are these rolls revulcanized rubber? Or are they bonded?
Clay
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are not vulcanized rubber rolls. They are considered bonded or vulcanized composition rubber rolls.
Can your rolled rubber flooring be used in a sauna? I'm worried about carcinogens or other chemicals emitting because of the heat.
Victoria
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be used as flooring in a sauna. Rubber flooring is very slip-resistant and ever more so when wet. Our rubber flooring is very safe and will not emit any harmful gasses or chemicals. These rubber rolls are also very easy to clean and maintain and are mold and mildew resistant.
Would this be safe for use on a new laminate floor?
Scott
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over a laminate floor or any other hard flat surface.
Is this suitable for around shampoo unit?
Phil
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are suitable as flooring around a shampoo unit. These rubber rolls are very easy to clean and are very slip-resistant and even more so when wet. To make our rubber flooring watertight, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer over it. This will help to fill in the small pores in the floor helping to mitigate the amount of water that gets under the flooring.
What can I use to glue the floor seams together?
Megan
To glue the seams together on our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls, we suggest using our Seam Sealer glue or our Premium Seam Sealer glue.

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls have been used as flooring in CrossFit gyms around the country and are durable enough to handle heavy barbells and weights dropping on it.
I want to use this 8mm flooring for my children's outside playground area. How would that work considering it would be laid over a dirt base. How would I secure it so that it doesn't move?
Mr Vlaun
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are heavy enough that you don't have to do anything to them to keep them in place when installed outdoors over a dirt base.
Does the rubber flooring expand after a month or so?
Toby Russell
Depending on the environment in which the rubber flooring is installed, our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls and all of our rubber flooring with expand and contract with the changing of the temperature and humidity. That is why we recommend an 8mm expansion gap around the flooring.
Can these be used in a walk-in freezer?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be used in a walk-in freezer. These rubber rolls are very slip-resistant and more so when wet. They are easy to clean and maintain and will not harbor any mold or mildew. We would recommend sealing the flooring when installed so that the small pores on the top of the floor are filled in. This will prevent any small food particles from getting stuck.
We are looking to cover tile flooring in a gym for children. It needs to be resistant to wheelchairs and scooters. Would this be durable?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are durable enough that wheelchairs and scooters can roll across it without theme damaging the flooring. Our rubber flooring has been designed to perform optimally in tough conditions found in most commercial gyms, so this floor would be perfect for a gym for children.
How does this differ from the 8mm rubber underlayment?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are more dense than an 8mm thick rubber underlayment and is less porous. Why the underlayment is made with less density is so that is can help to absorb the should as it travels through the subfloor and to give added cushion underfoot.
Is this durable enough to walk on with hockey skates?
matt
You can walk with hockey skates on our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. If you want a product that will be super durable and long-lasting, we would recommend using one of our vulcanized mats or tiles like our Rubber Gym Tiles or our Premium Mats.
I have recently purchased 2 rubber rolls for my garage floor. Will the Rubber roll stay in place on an epoxy floor without any tape? And if tape is recommended, any brand suggestions on double-sided carpet tape I should look for?
Kelly
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over an epoxy floor. When installing over epoxy, the rubber rolls will not typically move. Rubber is very slip-resistant and has a high coefficient of friction, so it is typically pretty difficult to move these rolls. If certain lateral movements do cause movement for some reason, then we would suggest using our Double Sided Carpet Tape. You would just apply this tape under the rolls around the edges and down the seam.
Do you think this can work for a dance floor? (jazz, salsa, ballroom, HipHop, etc.?)
LD Dance Company
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls and all of our rubber flooring are not good options as a dance floor. Rubber is very slip-resistant and will not provide you with the proper amount of slip needed to perform certain dance moves. We do offer a wide range of dance floors that are great for all types of dance. These floors can be found on our dance flooring page.
I live in an apartment and own a power rack; what would you recommend for protecting my floor and decreasing sound from pounding to the other apartments?
Roberto Daly
If you are lifting on a second floor, we don't recommend using our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls. We recommend using our Shock Mats, Shock Tiles, or Monster Rubber Tiles. These products have been designed to minimize the amount of noise that is trasferred between floors to protect your subfloor and help keep your neighbors sanity.
If part of this doesn't butt up to anything, is there a tapered edging that can be put on the one end? I don't want an exposed lip to trip over.
Lee
You can purchase one of our Rubber Floor Ramps to reduce the tripping hazard if you are placing our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls in the middle of a room.
Do the rolls come any wider, like 8ft?
Randy
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls only come 4' wide.
Would this product mess up the floor underneath the mats? With the pressure/weight of the equipment on top of the mat, would this cause any damage to the floor over time?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls won't damage any subfloor. Rubber is meant as a layer of protection over any subfloor, whether it be concrete or an existing flooring surface. Depending on the flooring surface under the rolls, we may recommend placing a plastic sheet under them to prevent staining. Examples would be light colored carpets, standard vinyl floors, and some hardwoods.
Can this rubber mat be installed on carpet?
Jason
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over a low pile (not shag / high pile) commercial grade Berber carpet. Would this product be appropriate for a woodshop floor? How about for potteries?
Karl Keel
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are a great flooring surface for woodshops and potteries. Our rubber flooring is very slip-resistant, and more so when wet, and are very easy to clean and maintain. To make cleaning of our rubber flooring easier in these environments, we recommend sealing the floor with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will seal the small pores in the flooring preventing any wood or clay from getting stuck in the floor.
I just received samples. The solid black 3/8" sample has a much smoother surface than the colored 8mm, 1/4", and 5mm samples. What type of surface does the solid black 1/4" roll have?
James
The surface of all our rubber rolls is fairly smooth. The EPDM in our rubber can create a surface that isn't totally smooth, but all of our black rubber would have a pretty smooth surface.
Would I be able to do Zumba on it?
Sherilyn Thiel
We don't recommend doing Zumba on our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls due to the amount of slip-resistance our rubber flooring has. You can actually end up injuring yourself when performing certain moves. Our best flooring option for doing Zumba is our Impact Rolls - Wood Series. This vinyl topped rubber-backed product will provide the right amount of slip needed for the various dance moves while also providing excellent shock absorbency and comfort underfoot, protecting your joints.
Can your rubber flooring rolls be installed over a dimple mat underlayment? Specifically, the Delta-FL product?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over an underlayment, even the Delta-FL product underlayment. As long as the subfloor is hard and flat, this will not cause any issue whatsoever.
I work on my vehicles quite a bit.. would this hold up with hydraulic floor jacks and working on vehicles?
Kimball
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would provide a comfortable floor to work on, but the oils from working on the cars will break the flooring down over time. Oil eats away at the binder that is used to keep rubber flooring intact. If you need a comfortable floor to lay on when working on vehicles, we recommend going with one of our Flex Tiles in our garage flooring section. These products offer the same comforts as rubber flooring but are resistant to most vehicle chemicals. Our Smooth Flex Nitro Tiles would be the closest to rubber flooring in terms of feel and performance.
Looking for rubber floor for home gym. What do the arrows with the 2 different options mean?
Debbie

One direction would be based on the width, and one is based on the length. Depending on the room's size and orientation, either representation may work better for your install.

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can withstand metal cleats. Our rubber rolls have been used as flooring in a number of baseball dugouts. Over time, the rubber will get damaged to the point of repair. At that time, you would just replace the roll.

should you use an adhesive to secure the rolls on a plywood gym floor. the gym is 14' X 19.5' in size
DAN KILMURRAY
For most home gym installations, you can use double-sided tape to adhere our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls to the subfloor. For commercial installations, we recommend using glue to install the rubber to the subfloor.
Can this floor be installed over an existing rubber floor, and if so, what type of adhesive should I use?
Gary Koop
Yes, you can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over an existing rubber floor. If you're gluing the rubber to the rubber flooring underneath, the glue you would want to use is a polyurethane adhesive. We have two to choose from our standard Polyurethane Adhesive and our easy-to-use EZ Polyurethane Adhesive.
How would this product work in an enclosed motorcycle trailer?
Thomas
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be used as flooring in an enclosed motorcycle trailer. The only thing you will need to pay attention to is oil leaking on the floor. Over time, oil can break down the binder in the flooring, causing it to break down and flake. The easiest way to prevent this is to place one of our Nitro Rolls in the area where the bike will be placed.
Do these mats leave marks on your hands/shoes? We want this for our home gym/kid's play area but are concerned the kid's hands/feet will turn black from the flooring.
Ryan
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls are not painted, so there shouldn't be any transfer of black coloring on any articles of clothing or body parts. We do recommend cleaning the flooring once it is installed, as there will be some dirt and grime from the manufacturing, shipping, and installation processes.
Around our inground pool is concrete. Can I put this over the concrete around our pool? TIA!
Beck
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over concrete around an inground pool. Our rubber rolls are very resistant to the elements and are very slip-resistant, more when wet. Since these rolls are semi-porous, there is potential for the salts and chlorine to get stuck in the floor. To prevent this, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer on the floor. You will also notice that the rolls will fade in direct sunlight over time.
We put 3/4" mats on our gym floor. They are so hard, and the seams look awful. Can we install this on top of those?

You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls or any of our rubber rolls over any hard flat surface like concrete, plywood, OSB, and even other flooring, like rubber mats, tile, and many other flooring types.
Is this flooring fire rated?
Jennifer Burke
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls have a Class III fire rating.
I want to use this on top of OSB and under LVP flooring for a dance floor. Will this application work together? Do I need to put a vapor barrier between the OSB and rubber?
Renee Mollenhour
You can install LVP over our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls over OSB. You wouldn't need to place a vapor barrier between the rubber and the OSB. Moisture won't affect the rubber in any way.
How do you connect the seam between two 4 foot rolls
