About Commercial Carpet
Designed for use in high traffic areas, commercial carpets are perfect for retail entryways, commercial gyms, commercial offices, grocery stores, airports, banks, and much more. Commercial carpet rolls and carpet tiles are more durable than residential carpet because they’re made to withstand the wear and tear of daily customers or workers.
Commercial carpet comes in a variety of patterns and colors to fit your commercial space. From Berber to home theater carpet, to bold colors, commercial carpets have a diverse range of looks. Check out your options!
Types of Commercial Carpet
Commercial Carpet Tiles
Commercial carpet tiles are so easy to install that you can often complete installation on your own in a matter of hours. They also produce less waste than installing broadloom carpet, because you end up cutting less to fit the space.
Style is also a big plus! With carpet tiles, you can create custom patterns using different colors or by rotating the tiles. It’s also very easy to replace commercial carpet tiles if they become stained or damaged. Simply lift the affected tile and replace it with a new one.
Commercial Carpet Planks
Carpet planks are like carpet tiles in many ways, including easy installation and less material waste. These newer carpet planks are different mostly in terms of shape. With the longer plank shape, you can get more creative with your design.
Use commercial carpet planks to create herringbone patterns in your commercial space, or experiment with other modern, geometric designs.
Commercial Carpet Rolls
While carpet tiles and planks are growing more popular, traditional broadloom still takes the cake for the majority of the commercial carpet industry. Carpet rolls are typically priced cheaper per square foot than tiles or planks since they will cover a larger area.
This makes broadloom a great choice for budget-friendly projects as well as large jobs where you need to cover a lot of square footage.
Features of Commercial Carpet Flooring
Here are some of the features you can enjoy with a commercially-rated carpet.
Class 1 Fire Rating
Safety is an important factor to consider for your flooring, especially in commercial spaces. Carpets with a Class 1 Fire Rating are made from materials such as nylon that are more resistant to fire. This ensures the utmost safety in the case of a fire.
ADA Compliant Carpet
ADA compliant carpet is an excellent way to include some softer, slip-resistant flooring that still allows for the best mobility. To comply with the ADA, carpets must not be thicker than 1/2”. Shorter, compact fibers are ideal. Additionally, the carpet must be glued or tacked to the floor to avoid bunching up under wheelchairs, so avoid peel-and-stick backings.
Air Quality Certified Carpet
Many commercial carpets come with a CRI Green Label Plus® Certification. This means these products passed the Indoor Air Quality Testing Program to ensure that they emit low levels of VOCs. Carpets that meet these scientifically established standards provide a better environment for living, working, learning, and healing.
Commercial Carpet Traffic Ratings
Some commercial carpets are designed to handle more foot traffic than others. Find out how much each commercial carpet can handle based on its traffic rating.
Walk-Off: This is the ultimate durable carpet designed for entryways and even garages.
✅ Extra Heavy: The toughest of the tough, this carpet can handle the busiest areas.
✅ High: Designed specifically for heavy foot traffic and busier areas.
✅ Medium: Great for use in most spaces with a lot of foot traffic.
Commercial Carpet Reviews
"We bought a building that needing new flooring, as the old owners used duct tape. These carpet tiles are very nice quality and easy to install!!!"
- Under T.
“I wanted to put something down in my apartment kitchen that would help with sound and comfort. I ended up coming around to some carpet tiles that looked nice and I could order just one box worth. The tiles ended up working perfectly and they were easy to cut.
I've noticed I walk kind of hard and being on the second floor of my apt building I was concerned with noise for the person below me. With the tiles down, I immediately noticed a noise difference. I'm considering doing this in a few other spots too since it worked out well.”
- Bre
“The tiles are easy to replace when there's an accident and it can't be easily cleaned. I would recommend using the tape instead of gluing if you have a family and pets, that way you can pull it up easier and replace it good as new.”
