Monster rubber tiles are easy to keep clean and are very low maintenance gym tiles. Maintenance of these rubber tiles includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the surface when necessary.
  • Occasionally damp mopping with a mild soap and water solution. Recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Monster tiles and accessories are best installed over concrete or plywood with the QuadBlok system.

Please note: Dimensional tolerance is plus or minus 1/8” for thickness and width. It may be necessary to hand-pick some tiles to ensure consistency in course line and color/tone uniformity.

Monster rubber tiles can be installed using a variety of installation methods. The most common method is the Quad Blok™ fastening system. The tiles adhere to the Quad Blok connector only. This install method is the preferred method for rooftop applications as well. You can also fully glue our tiles and accessories to the substrates using a polyurethane adhesive.

No Cut Kits:
  • First, clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dirt, dust, and debris.
  • Next, start in one corner of the room with two border beveled ramp pieces and a center tile.
  • Add border ramps and center tiles outward along the adjacent walls.
  • Add center tiles to fill the space out until you have covered the area to your desired size.
  • Lastly, add border pieces to the remaining two sides of the area.
Note: Border pieces can be loose-laid or adhered to the edge of the tiles.

Wall to Wall Installation:
  • First, clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dust, dirt, and debris.
  • Next, snap a chalk line on the subfloor 24” from one wall in your room. Snap another chalk line on the subfloor 24” from an adjacent wall. You should now have a pair of perpendicular lines making an approximate 90-degree angle.
  • Begin laying the tiles along the chalk lines, locking them together as you go.
  • After the field is covered, go back and cut in tiles along the wall in the room leaving a gap roughly 1/2” wide. This will account for any expansion or contraction that may occur in extreme temperature variations.

Don't see what you're looking for?
I covered a 20'x20' garage floor with the monster rubber tiles -- and turned the garage into a gym. They look and work great, my big question, though, is how can I get rid of (or tone it down) the strong rubber smell. It's not too inviting to go into the gym with that smell. Any suggestions?? thanks.
Karen
To reduce the rubber smell you get with this product, just simply mop the tiles with a mild soap and water solution and let them air dry. You may have to repeat this step more than once. This will help to mitigate the rubber smell.
Can you drive on these? I want to turn 1/2 my garage into a gym, and have the other half match it. Will the weight of the car be too much?
dan
You can drive a car over our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles with ease. The weight of the car will not affect the tiles. The only issue you may run into is when your car is leaking oil or oil is brought onto them after driving on fresh asphalt. The oil may start to break down the tile over time.
Are the dowels included, or do they need to be purchased seperately?
Anonymous
Dowels would need to be purchased separately. Six dowels are required for each tile purchased.
Will these work to absorb the vibrations of a treadmill? It is on the second floor of a condo.
Eileen
Our 1" Monster Tiles were designed with anti-vibration in mind. These tiles would be one our best rubber tiles to help minimize vibration from a treadmill.
Can this be installed on a basement floor?
Anonymous
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles can be installed in a basement.
Does this rubber mat tile come with the dowels already? I could not find the dowel specs. What about the 1"ramps which are its accessory along the edge? Are the ramps also doweled to the tile?
Chris
We no longer offer dowels for our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles. You would have to order Quad Bloc Connectors separately. You would order 1 block per tile. To install the ramps to your flooring, you will need to adhere them to the tiles with our seam sealer glue.
Would these work well in a laundry room? Pipes are running underneath the floor and no crawl space, so I was looking for something easily undone if I have to fix a pipe or something
mikelle
You can install our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles in a laundry room. These tiles are slip resistant when wet and are easy to remove in the event there is a flood.
Can you put the monster tiles down on radiant heat flooring?
JC
You can install our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles over radiant heating.
Would you recommend the 1-inch monster rubber tile for cardio like burpees, jumping jacks, etc. in the second-floor apartment room? I want to minimize sound/vibration transfer to the downstairs. Is there a better option?
Monica Choi
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles would be the perfect flooring option for doing workouts in a second-floor apartment. These tiles are very thick helping to reduce noise transmission between floors. They are also shock absorbent, which will help to protect your joints while you are doing these types of exercises.
Can water go through the seam where two tiles connect?
Serginio Sylvain
If our Monster Rubber tiles are not interlocked tightly, there is potential for water to seep between the cracks. To help prevent this, we do recommend using out seam sealer glue. This will help to ensure a watertight bond between the tiles.
Can it be used for an outdoor gym? What kind of tools to install them?
Aparachita Chey
You can install our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles outdoors. Since these tiles are not UV stable, you will get some fading of the rubber over time when exposed to direct sunlight. To install our Monster Tiles, all you will need is some of our Seam Sealer glue, a sharp utility knife, and a straight edge for straight, clean cuts.
Is it possible to use outside as a deck covering? I have covered an existing upper deck with Tyvec to prevent leakage through a garage ceiling underneath a deck. Need a sturdy surface material.
Richard Spong
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles can be used indoors an out and are UV stable.
What do the percentages on the color selections indicate?
Colin
The percentages on Monster Tiles or any of our rubber products indicates the amount of color that is found in the product. So if you see a color called Blue - 10%, that means that 10% of the tile is blue in color.
What's the net weight of each tile?
jose
Our Monter Rubber Tiles weigh approximately 16 pounds.
are they water proff
sonya
Monster rubber tiles will not absorb water.
Do these tiles have to be glued down and does water flow underneath them?
pasquale perone
You don't have to glue our 1" Monster Tiles as these tiles are a floating floor system. These tiles interlock using a dowel system. These tiles have feet under them and will allow water to flow under them with ease.
Can these monster tiles be used outdoors? Looking for something for a playground area.
Shawn
You can use our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles outdoors. These tiles have a fall height rating of 1.5' and are very easy to clean and maintain. The only thing that you may notice is that with certain colors, you may get some fading over time.
Can you cut these to fit different spaces?
Marco Bornia
You can cut our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles with a large bread knife to fit any space. We would suggest using a T-Square, so your cuts are straight.
Are your 1” Monster Tiles suitable for outdoor installation? Is it ok for water to travel through and under the tiles? Will the granite color fade?
Norris
You can install our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles outdoors. Since these tiles feature a solid skin on top, water won't penetrate through the tiles but would flow off the top of the tiles and to the crack at the junction between two tiles. This will allow the water to get under the tiles and to flow to a drain or get absorbed into the dirt below. Our Monster Rubber Tiles are not UV stable, so the colors will fade over time.
Are these tiles really 1 inch, as they're labeled? They look more like 12 inches. Or 1 foot. How does a 1-inch tile become "monster?"
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles are 1" thick and are 2' x 2' in size. If you would like to get a better gauge of the thickness of these tiles, we recommend ordering a sample of the tiles.
Do these tiles inhibit or encourage mold if used in the basement, and the basement gets wet?
Scott
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles are naturally mold and mildew resistant, so they will not encourage the growth of mold and mildew if your basement were to flood.
Can I lay this directly on top of carpet in my basement area?
Milad Jama
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles were designed to be the perfect rubber floor option to install over carpet, whether its a low pile carpet or a high pile carpet. The way these tiles interlock allows them to be used over any type of carpet without the carpet needing to be removed.
Can this be directly applied on my carpet for home gym?
Jordan
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles can be installed over any type of carpet. These tiles use a quad block system to interlock the tiles to each other, helping to keep the tiles in place no matter how thick your carpet or pad is. If you have a light-colored carpet and are concerned about the tiles staining the carpet, we recommend placing a plastic sheet between the tiles and the carpet.
Can 1" Monster Tiles be used outdoors, all-weather over EPDM?
Ralph P Woodward
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles can be used outdoors. These rubber tiles are weather-resistant and are very slip-resistant and even more so when wet. They are very easy to clean and install and are mold and mildew resistant. For the most part, these tiles are pretty UV resistant, but with certain colors, there is potential for some fading to occur when installed in an area with a lot of sun.
Can the Monster Rubber Tiles be installed over a level, compacted gravel surface?
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles can be installed over level, compacted gravel or any other hard flat surface like concrete, plywood, asphalt, and the like.
I’m looking for tiles I can temporarily lay down for different purposes such as in a playroom, as a temporary gym space on top of wood or carpet to be able to drop my weights safely onto; outdoors on pavers, concrete or grass to lay down under an inflatable pool and protect it from imperfections in the concrete or grass; in the kitchen for added cushioning; or perhaps in the car as added protection for the occasional odd thing I need to move where I don’t want it to scratch or muck anything up. Would these tiles work for that, or are they more intended for being laid out permanently?
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles are installed as a floating floor, meaning they can be easily installed and removed. So these rubber tiles would be perfect for all of these situations.
My basement is completely tiled. Will these rubber tiles protect the tile, keep it from chipping or cracking when weights are dropped?
Melody Martin
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles are one of our most shock absorbent rubber tiles and will help to protect your tile subfloor from cracking or chipping when weights are dropped.
Can these be used in Equine facilities? Are these tiles waterproof?
Matt
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles can be used as flooring in equine facilities. These rubber tiles are not waterproof. They have a non-porous top that helps prevent any liquids from flowing through the flooring, but at the seams, there is still potential for liquids to pass through any spacing between the tiles. To make your flooring water-tight, we recommend using our Seam Sealer glue to ensure a water-tight floor.
I have read that certain rubber tiles can damage and/or stain my natural hardwood (walnut) floors. Will these Monster Tiles stain/damage my hardwood floors? If so, what protective layer should I put between your Monster Rubber tiles and the hardwood floor?
Greg
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles are safe to install over hardwood floors without damaging them. If you are concerned that the flooring might stain your flooring, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the tiles to protect your hardwood flooring.
You seem to advertise the "High Impact" series as the best for P90X and plyometric type workouts due to the cushion from the foam underneath the rubber. These tiles seem to have similar properties (tougher top layer with softer lower layer), so would these also be good for P90X-like workouts?
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles are perfect for all high-impact workouts like P90X and the like.
What is the cushioning like? Is it as good as an anti-fatigue mat? I want to replace the flooring in an entire work area and get rid of trip hazard mats.
Mike
Our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles will provide you with similar anti-fatigue properties as a standard anti-fatigue mat.

Perfect for teen's basement bedroom - and some

Self-installed in Basement
Carrie Smith from Delaware, OH wrote...
I had some misgivings initially about investing in this type of flooring, but we are all utterly delighted with the end results. Our teen needed her own room, and the only place to expand was into our unfinished basement - consisting of half cellar constructed in 1891, and half block basement dug out in the 1970s with a DIY (poorly-poured, highly irregular) concrete floor. The Monster tiles were the perfect solution. Their thickness and the ″feet″ adapt to the irregularities in the concrete floor, and make it far more comfortable (both in terms of support and temperature) to walk on. We're also fine to handle the very mild dampness that tends to creep in across a 123-year-old cellar floor - the Monster tiles keep us high and dry! The picture shows our teen's room, but we also have an area where we put a treadmill on top of the tiled floor, and running on the treadmill is now even more comfortable. A couple of tips that we picked up while installing ourselves: 1) Holding the tile in an arc (like a ″bridge″ when shuffling cards) - helps to compress the fit against the adjacent tile to allow the dowels to insert completely. 2) When that's not enough, we actually used a tire jack. We would put the jack down on its side, and then brace the base horizontally against a wall or free-floating concrete block as needed, and against a 2″x4″ stood up on edge along a tile on the other. As we ″raised″ the jack (extending its length along the floor), the 2″x4″ helped deliver the pressure equally alongside the tile, helping to compress the dowels and push the tile into place. 3) To cut tiles, we used a jigsaw with a blade intended for rough wood cuts, and a step ladder. The problem is that you can't use sawhorses to hold up tiles for cuts because of course the rubber is somewhat floppy. So, we laid a stepladder on its side and spread the feet apart enough to both stabilize the ladder, and to spread the legs about 1″ apart at the top. You could then put the tile on the side of the ladder, laying it such that your cut would fall between the tops of the legs. Just run the jigsaw through, and the ladder gives you enough support to hold the tile in place while making the cuts. This method also helps you to guide your cut cleanly.
