My garage floor is epoxy painted. Will the floor peel from tire heat? Will the tires stain/scorch the floor under the tile? Will water (rain dripping off the vehicle) get through the joints to the floor underneath?
Our Diamond Grid-Loc tiles are a hard plastic tile and will keep your epoxy floor protected from the heat of the tires. Water and other liquids will flow between and underneath the tiles to a drain or out of your garage.
Was this helpful? How does this tile hold up in a non-heated garage during the winter in Michigan.
Our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles are made with a hard polypropylene plastic that is ideally suited for any garage. These tiles are resistant to most household and vehicle chemicals and will not get brittle in freezing temperatures. Snow, ice, and salt are not a problem for these tiles either as they allow any melted snow and ice to flow through and under the floor allowing for the water to run out of your garage or to a drain.
Was this helpful? Can these tiles be installed over a dirt floor? I have a detached garage with dirt floors right now. I plan to tamp down those floors, add pea gravel, tamp that down, then install a vapor barrier, shock pad, and rubber tiles. Is this an option?
Ideally, we would recommend installing our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles over concrete or asphalt. When placed over dirt, there is potential for the tiles to embed themselves into the dirt. This may create an uneven surface that is unsightly and not the safest.
Was this helpful?I often have wet cars in my garage. The floor slopes slightly towards a drain in the middle of the floor. Can I use titles? Do you have special cut outs for drains? or should I just use vented tiles?
You can use our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles in a garage where there will be water and a slope. Since these tiles allow water to flow between and under the floor, you don't necessarily need to use one of the Vented Grid-Loc Tiles, but you can interlock our Vented Grid-Loc Tiles with our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles for that purpose.
Was this helpful? If a tile does become damaged in the center of my garage am I able to replace that single damaged tile?
You can replace a single Diamond Grid-Loc Tile with the use of a paint can opener. Place the opener on one end of the tile and pull up. Once removed, you can place the new tile in its place.
Was this helpful?Do you ship to Canada, we use a lot of dirt on our roads that we scrape off our garage floor in winter, would we be able to scrape off the Diamond tiles?
We do ship to Canada and you would be able to remove dirt and grime from our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles with ease. We recommend using a hose and broom.
Was this helpful? Can I use Race Ramps on this flooring?
Yes, you can use race ramps with our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles.
Was this helpful? Can these tiles be used on an exposed exterior deck?
As long as all the tiles are heated and cooled around the same time, you wouldn't have any issues with buckling. These tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and can be replaced if one were to become damaged easily. Since these tiles interlock somewhat loosely, water and any other liquids would eventually flow between the interlocks around the tile. Even though these tiles are somewhat UV stable, there is potential that over time some fading may happen. It won't be drastic, but you may notice it.
Was this helpful? Can these tiles be laid over epoxy flooring? could the tiles slip-on epoxy the flooring? My wife says that they will slip or should not be laid over epoxy flooring due to bad grip.
Hard plastic tiles can slip and move when installed directly over epoxy. For this, we would recommend installing an underlayment between the tiles and the epoxy floor to give added grip / traction.
Was this helpful? Will the tiles keep water from leaking through joints when installed over a wood floor? Is the rolled material a better choice? Erich
Water would lead through the seams as they are not water tight. A roll would be a better choice for you.
Was this helpful?Do the tiles pop up in the sun or if the air temperature rises in the summer, like in the 90s?
The tiles may expand / contract normally but it would be minimal.
Was this helpful? Can you use a floor jack or jack stands on these title without damaging them
No, not by itself. We'd recommend using a sheet of plywood underneath the car jack to help distribute the weight of the vehicle.
Was this helpful?Instead of using the edge pieces, is it practical to cut the 12x12 squares to custom fit?
You can absolutely cut the tiles to fit your space instead of using edging.
Was this helpful? Can I cut the diamond grid loc tiles with a utility knife?
The tiles are very dense, so using a utility knife may be very time consuming but you can certainly do it.
Was this helpful? In the video the tiles appear to be plastic instead of rubber.. I am looking for soft rubber.
Correct, these tiles are hard plastic. You should look at one of our flex garage tiles if you're looking for a soft tile.
Was this helpful?I routinely lift my car onto jackstands to do maintenance or brakes/suspension work. How do the tiles hold up to fllor jack and jackstand use?
We do not recommend placing car jacks over our Diamond Grid-Lock Tiles because there is a potential for the tile(s) to crack. You can place a piece of metal sheet or plywood between the stand the tiles. This will help to disperse the weight and help to keep the tiles from cracking.
Was this helpful?I want to create a large chess board on a wood deck. How will the tiles hold up outdoors? Will they slip around on a wood deck?
You can install our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles outdoors. When installing these tiles, you will want to make sure there is plenty of space around the tiles for expansion and contraction. We recommend at least a 1/2". These tiles will hold up outdoors as they are constructed with polypropylene, which is a hard plastic meant to endure the rigors of being installed in a garage or workshop environment. The only thing that you will notice when installing these tiles outdoors is that there might be some fading of color as these tiles are not totally UV stable. You can install these garage tiles over a wood deck without them slipping.
Was this helpful? What is the best way to cut around circular posts?
The best way to cut our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles around a circular post is to measure the area and then mark the tiles that would need to cut. If you interlock all the tiles together with the marking, you could use a rotary saw to cut the tiles.
Was this helpful? How thick is it?
Our Diamond Grid-Loc Tiles are a 1/2" thick.
Was this helpful? What about mold forming under the tiles? Can anyone comment on that?
Our Diamon Grid-Loc Tiles are mold and mildew resistant. Mold and mildew can grow if there is organic material, but it would not grow under the tiles. The only thing that you might notice is if you have a water issue with your concrete, you may get some salt accumulation under your tiles. This can be easily cleaned and will not affect the tiles in any way.
