Dance Floor interlocking tile kits are easy to maintain. Cleaning of these multiuse tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming or sweeping any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the modular tiles when necessary.
  • Hose off or damp mop the floor tiles with a mild soap and water mixture for tough or caked on dirt and/or stains.
Dance Floor Kits are easy to install. Installation of these floor tiles typically includes:
  • Surface Prep: You must clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dirt, dust, grease, or other foreign material before beginning installation.
  • We will start at the top left corner of your designated dance area. Put a tile down with the male edges (no loop) facing towards the top and left direction. Make sure the female sides (loops) of the tile are facing the bottom and right direction.
  • Attach your second tile to the right side of the first tile, lowering and interlocking it into each loop.
  • Repeat step #2 until you have completed one full side of your dance floor.
  • Once you’ve secured your last tile into place in the first row, you’ll begin a second row beneath the very first tile you started with. Interlock the top of your second row tile with the bottom of your first row tile. Follow step #2.
  • Follow the same process to fill in all of your rows of tiles to create your full dance floor size.
  • Once the tiles are in place, you can snap in the edge pieces, if you purchased them. Start with the male edges. Lay them out to be sure you have enough before clicking them into place as shown in the step #6 diagram.
  • As you did with the male edges, lay out all female edges to make sure you have enough. Once you are ready you can click the female edges into place to complete your floor.
  • **For wall to wall installations: When you come up to a wall or object, don’t worry. Simply measure the area and cut the tiles with a tile cutter or a power saw with a fine-toothed blade. Interlock the trimmed tiles into place. When trimming the tiles into place, make sure you leave about a 3/4” space between the tiles and the wall or obstruction. Once the tiles are in place, you can then snap in the edge pieces if you purchased them.
Note: Since these dance tiles feature a vinyl top adhered to the tile with a pressure sensitive adhesive, pressure may be needed to ensure that the vinyl top fully adheres. You can easily accomplish this by walking across the floor or by using a flooring roller for larger areas.

Can this lay over carpet?
Kelly
If the carpet is high pile you may have issues keeping the interlock together. You can add a flat sturdy subfloor in between, such as a sheet of plywood.
Is a marley floor required or is the vynl on top good enough for ballet?
B
You may use Marley if you wish but it's not necessary.
How do I keep it from slipping and moving? Does it need something on the bottom?
The kits stay in place within normal movements. Larger movements may cause movement of smaller kits but not larger size kits.
Do these tiles have a smooth seamless finish when assembled? Would a subfloor be recommended if using on a cement floor?
When installed over a smooth flat floor our Swisstrax Dancetrax tiles will make for a seamless finish. While installing a subfloor over a cement floor is not necessary, we recommend using one as it will provide a more stable foundation for the Dance Trax tiles.
Is a subfloor needed if using on a cement floor? Is this a smooth, seamless feel?
While a subfloor is not required to use Swisstrax Dancetrax Tiles, we recommend a subfloor to ensure a smooth, seamless feel.

Dancetrax Kits have a textured finish
Installed in Not installed
kvan from Ann Arbor wrote...
Bought for my daughter's virtual dance classes. I called and spoke with customer service about the texture of the floor and was told that this is a smooth floor. This is not a smooth floor so I returned it. Paul in customer service was extremely helpful returning the product, but the company will not help with shipping charges. Be sure you want this floor when purchasing. The least expensive shipping I could find was $56/box. If you're not looking for a smooth finish, this floor is nice.

Just what I was looking for!

Self-installed in Family room

After spending a few weeks trying to find the perfect floor to turn my unused upstairs family room into a virtual fitness studio for my online classes I was leading during covid, Dancetrax is what I decided on. Not only is the look amazing, but it was easy to put together ourselves. I put it on top of carpet and although it would probably be ideal to put it on a hard surface, it still works great without issues.

  Using for tap
Lillian from Buffalo, NY wrote...
I purchased a 5 by 5 size. I was able to install it on my own after I got the hang of it. The edges add a nice finishing touch. I am using the dance floor to practice tap at home during the Covid crisis.
