How is Walk of Fame carpet sold?
It comes on a 13 foot 6 inch wide roll and is sold by the linear foot. Each linear foot is 13.5 square feet. The minimum cut is 10 linear feet, and one piece can run up to 100 feet. A room wider than 13 feet 6 inches needs a seam, which should be planned around the pattern repeat.
Was this helpful? Can Walk of Fame carpet be glued down, or does it have to be stretched in?
Either method works. For stretch-in, seams are joined with hot melt tape and a seaming iron. The carpet is stretched along the short side with a power stretcher or knee kicker, in 3 to 5 foot sections. For glue-down, follow the trowel notch and coverage rate printed on the adhesive pail. Seal all edges with seam sealer. Lay the carpet into the adhesive starting at the center, then roll it with a 75-pound roller in both directions. Keep heavy traffic and furniture off a glued floor for 24 hours. Either way, start with a clean subfloor and fill any cracks, holes, or dips first.
Was this helpful? Will the star pattern line up at the seams?
Yes, if the seams are planned for it. The star pattern repeats every 8 inches in both directions. Group the rolls and cuts by pattern repeat, longest first. Shift the trimmed edges so the pattern matches near the middle of the seam. Match each section before you seal it, and do not finish a seam that does not match. Ordering all your carpet at once helps the pattern and color match across pieces.
Was this helpful? What is Walk of Fame carpet made of?
It is a cut-pile carpet made from 100% Premium WearOn nylon, on Actionbac backing. The face weight is 26 oz per square yard. It resists wear, staining, soiling, and mildew. It is Class 1 fire rated, Green Label Plus certified, and made in the USA. Joy Carpets rates it for homes and for heavy-use commercial rooms, and backs it with a lifetime warranty.
Was this helpful? Can Walk of Fame carpet go over a concrete basement floor?
Yes, over a properly prepared basement floor. The subfloor has to be clean, dry, and sound before installation, and both stretch-in and glue-down work. The carpet resists mold and mildew as well as stains and soil. Joy Carpets designed the pattern for home theaters, basements, and family rooms.
Was this helpful? Is Walk of Fame carpet made to order?
Yes. Each order is cut from the roll for you. That is why it ships in 10 to 20 business days rather than the same week. It comes in four colors: Black, Brown, Burgundy, and Navy. A sample of each is available, and it is worth checking the color in your room before ordering a custom cut. Rolls weigh close to 6 pounds per linear foot, so a long cut is a heavy delivery.
