What comes in the ArmorUltra kit?
Everything for the job, topcoat included. The 1,000 sqft kit has ArmorEtch etching solution, Armorpoxy II epoxy primer, 9 gallons of ArmorUltra epoxy, and ArmorUltra topcoat. It also has UltraWear non-skid additive, a 1/8 inch notched squeegee, a power mixer, roller frames and covers, spiked shoes, and instructions. The kit ships on one pallet, so the primer, epoxy, and topcoat all arrive together.

The kit comes in two sizes: a 1,000 square foot kit and a 1,500 square foot kit. The 1,500 sqft kit contains larger quantities of the same components rather than different materials. The 1,000 sqft kit weighs about 100 pounds and the 1,500 sqft kit about 150 pounds. Each size is offered in 17 colors.

It is thicker, and it is a three-coat system. ArmorUltra puts down primer, epoxy, and topcoat, building to 25 to 30 mils, which is about 0.03 inches. That is at least 5 to 6 times the thickness of standard floor paint. It is a commercial product used in car dealerships, aircraft hangars, restaurants, kennels, and retail stores. It is not sold in home centers or paint stores.
Was this helpful?Do I have to etch the concrete before applying ArmorUltra?
Yes. The concrete has to be prepared first, and the kit includes ArmorEtch etching solution for that step. Etching opens the surface so the Armorpoxy II primer can bond to it. The primer then anchors the epoxy and topcoat above it. Follow the printed instructions in the kit for the full prep sequence.

No. ArmorUltra is for indoor and garage use only. It is intended for garages, basements, workshops, and factories as well as commercial spaces such as dealerships, hangars, restaurants, and kennels. A low-VOC version is available at an additional cost for California and other states that require low-VOC coatings.
