The Deck Top Roof tiles are very low maintenance and easy to keep clean. Here are some basic maintenance tips:
  • Sweep the surface of the rubber tile with a stiff outdoor bristle broom when necessary to remove any debris or dirt.
  • Spray or hose off the tiles with clean water as needed to remove any dirt or grime.
  • Vacuum the surface of the rubber flooring with a shop vac if needed.
  • If the tiles become stained, use a mild soap and water solution and gently scrub the tiles with a soft nylon bristle brush or mop.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil-based cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. as these can break down the flooring over time.
Installing our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles is very easy. Follow these simple steps for a successful installation:
  1. Ensure that the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of any debris, oil, or grease.
  2. Starting at one corner of the installation area, lay the corner tiles and border tiles along the adjacent walls.
  3. Continue to lay the interlocking tiles in the center of the installation area, including corner and border tiles as needed.
  4. Once the open floor is covered, measure and cut the tiles to fit the remaining edges of the room. We recommend leaving a gap along the walls roughly the thickness of the tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction in different temperatures.
  5. If desired, secure the tiles in place using double-sided tape or mat tape around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

Can this be installed over a wood deck?
Donna O DeNeefe
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles can be installed on a wood deck.
Hi - I have an 18’ x 20’ backyard area that is grass and weed free, and completely flat, with a 2” slope over the 20’ span. I would like to put some sort of cement or rubber tiles over this area. I have glued three 6 x 20' Polypropylene weed barriers, and this has been preventing weed growth. If I put down a one eighth inch layer of sand, could I use your tiles on top of the weed barrier for walking, to put tables and to use to move loaded wheelbarrows, etc.?
Wendy Forrester
We recommend installing our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles over a flat, solid surface like concrete or asphalt. People have installed these tiles over compacted dirt or sand, and have had success. You will just need to make sure that you follow all instructions in regards to installing your flooring properly.
Hello, I'd like to know the following; How easy is it to replace a "tile"? If someone spills wine, etc. on the surface, will it stain? How easily will it scratch? How easily will it burn (cig butts)? What's the life expectancy of this product?
Brandon
Damaging our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles is pretty difficult, but if one tile were to become damaged, replacing one is pretty simple. We recommend using our seam sealer glue at the interlock of the tiles to prevent the tiles from buckling and also to prevent theft. To replace the tile, all you would need to do is cut the glue keeping the tiles together if glued and then remove the damaged tile. Once removed, you can replace the tile with a new one and can reapply glue if needed or desired. If you were to drop a hot cigarette butt on the flooring, the tiles will not go up in smoke. Since rubber melts at about 356 degrees Fahrenheit, a cigarette butt won't do much to the tiles. These tiles are very durable and won't be scratched easily. It's even pretty tough to cut these tiles with a sharp knife, so there would be no concern with that there. These rubber tiles have a lifetime warranty, so honestly, they will last for as long as you own them. To truly see and feel the durability of these tiles we recommend ordering a sample of the tiles.
What type of flat roof do you recommend to be on top of? TPO, silicone membrane, or regular bitumen roof?
Brandon
You can install our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles over any flat roof. Because these tiles are interlocking, they will not damage the rooftop in any way.
Hi, I want to install these tiles on a roof deck, and I want to know if they are water permeable and can they withstand ice and snow?
Carlos
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are water permeable and will allow water to flow through them to an open drain or off the roof. These tiles were designed to be used outdoors and are freeze/thaw stable, so ice, snow, and the like will not damage these tiles. If you need to shovel and snow off of these tiles, we would recommend using a plastic shovel to remove the snow.
Can the Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles be places over concrete on a slope? Is there a grade minimum?
Brittiny
You can install our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles over concrete that is slightly sloped. No maximum or minimum grade has been tested for these tiles, but you can glue the tiles to the concrete to keep them in place if need be.
Are these waterproof or porous? I am trying to prevent water from seeping through.
Jon
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are somewhat porous allowing water not to pool on the surface of the tiles. If you are looking for a tile that is not porous, we would recommend installing our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles. Water may seep between the tiles but would flow through the tiles.
Will these tiles feel "soggy wet" after a rain? I have carpeting over a rubber roof which remains very wet for a long time after the rain. Trying to find a covering that will dry out pretty quick.
Darlene Reese
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are semi-permeable, so they will allow water to flow through the tiles ensuring water does not pool on top of your floor. These tiles will dry very quickly in direct sunlight.
Is it porous?
Elizabeth
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are semi-porous and will allow water to floor through the tiles. This helps to keep water from pooling on top of the flooring for long periods of time.
Are these tiles slick or slippery when wet?
Jesse
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are made from rubber and are very slip resistant whether wet or dry and are more slip resistant when wet.
Can the interlocking deck top roof tiles be cut with a straight edge at perimeter?
Roxana Morgan
You can cut our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles with a large bread knife and a straight edge. It may take some elbow grease to get through the tiles, but this is the best method by hand. You can also use a band saw to cut these tiles as well.
What are the dimensions of a single tile?
Roxana Morgan
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are 2' x 2' tiles.
I currently use another brand of pavers that look like actual brick. They look nice but extremely hot in the sun. Hot enough to cause blisters. Do these absorb heat like that?
James
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles will get warm in direct sunlight. The darker the color, the hotter the surface. These tiles are typically less hot than concrete or asphalt in direct sunlight. To keep them cool, we recommend spraying them down with water during the warmest parts of the day. Since these tiles are slip resistant and more slip resistant when wet, wetting them periodically will not create a slip hazard.
Can one place a nonsecured outdoor area rug over this product to, say, define an area or protect from the heat underfoot?
DM
You can place an outdoor area rug over our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles without damaging them.
What is the installation method? Glue down, free-floating or other? Do they expand and contract and if so are they prone to buckling?
The preferred installation method for our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles is a free-floating install. These rubber tiles, like any floor, will expand and contract throughout the day. Since these tiles can buckle, we do recommend placing glue at the interlock. This will help to decrease the chance of the tiles buckling.
How much weight can be placed on the 2' and 4' tiles without damaging it? I want to put an outdoor work out bench and cage but don't know if it will damage the floor?
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are very durable and are meant to hold heavy furniture and equipment on them. You would be able to place a workout bench and a cage on these tiles without damaging these tiles.
Do these tiles allow enough evaporation to be placed over septic field lines?
Emily
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are semi-porous and will allow the tiles to drain similarly to the soil. The evaporation rate of these tiles will be the same as the rate seen on natural soil.
The tiles appear to have a grid of circles on the underside. Does this allow for lateral flow of water beneath the tiles, or does the interlocking mechanism prevent water from moving past the border of the tile?
Daniel
Water will flow through and over our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles. These rubber tiles are semi-permeable, allowing water to flow through the floor. If the rainstorm is heavy, the water will flow over the tiles and through the tiles.
How do you clean the deck top roof tiles?
Ronda Hoxsie
These tiles can be cleaned easily with a mild soap and water solution and a soft nylon bristle brush or mop. Please see our cleaning instructions under the "Maintenance" tab on the product page.
I am considering installation on a concrete 5th-floor condo patio (861 SF) in the Pacific Northwest that is not completely flat and pools water slightly in some spots. Would this material hold up under those conditions? AND I have plants that tend to make a mess. Is it easy to sweep? Is it possible to get a sample?
Kim
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles have been installed all over the US and Canada and have been designed to withstand whatever Mother Nature can throw at them. These rubber tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and can be installed over any hard flat surface. Since these tiles are interlocking, they can be installed over surfaces that are not totally flat. As long as any pitting is not too great, over a 1/2", these tiles will perform just fine.
Can this be used as a home gym floor for the garage?
You can use our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles as home gym flooring in a garage. These tiles are very durable and are very easy to clean and maintain. These rubber tiles are also very slip-resistant and even more so when wet.
Can these tiles be used on a flat poured concrete roof?
Jose santiago
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles can be installed over a concrete roof.
Could these be used as a pool deck?
Deborah M Sexton
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles can be used as pool deck flooring. These tiles are semi-permeable, making them very slip-resistant even when wet. They are also mold and mildew resistant and are very easy to clean and maintain.
How protective is it against outside elements like hail?
Our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles have been designed to be installed outdoors and are very resistant to the elements. In severe weather conditions, there is always potential for damage to any object, but our rubber tiles would be somewhat resistant, and the hail would typically bounce off the tiles.
I live in the mountains in New Mexico, where we have cool but very sunny summers. Are these tiles UV protected? Will they crack or fade over time due to sun exposure? I see that you provide a lifetime guarantee. Does that apply to sun damage? Thanks.
Keith
The Premium Color set in our Interlocking Deck Top Roof Tiles are more UV resistant than the Standard Color options. If you are looking for a floor that will look as good as when you first installed your flooring, we recommend purchasing our Premium Series of colors. The tiles will not crack due to UV exposure; just the Standard Colors will fade more over time. The lifetime warranty does not apply to the fading of the tiles. It will cover any manufacturing defects. If you would like a complete printout of the warranty, please feel free to reach out to one of our Flooring Heroes via chat, email, or phone.
