I want to turn a small carpeted bedroom on a second level of our home into a workout/yoga studio. My gym uses this type of flooring so I've already decided for my needs it's a good medium between too soft carpet and too hard wood/tile. The problem is the current carpet is not firm enough for workout needs so my initial plan was to pull the carpet and pad out and place tiles over the wood subfloor - will I need an additional layer between the subfloor and this type of surface for best performance? I think in my gym it's layered over concrete which is not an option for me. I'm concerned about impact absorption to avoid issues with impact and/or noise, maybe even joist strain to the ceiling on the lower level during workouts. Thanks in advance!
