Playground Rubber Mulch - Bulk Reviews

Feels and looks good. It's winter so can't tell if it really inhibits weed growth.

After visiting the zoo I discovered they used recycled tires for walking paths that felt so nice to walk on. I sampled a bag of rubber mulch from Lowe’s and placed it over the hard DG in my backyard. It felt nice to walk on. I requested color samples from rubber flooring inc. I spread some around my plants and found that it retained moisture in the soil longer than the wood mulch I had used. I was very satisfied with the product and felt good about it being recycled material.

We love the rubber playground mulch at Bethel Encino Preschool. It is a real high light of our preschool and everyone raves about the color and the softness.

We are thrilled with the results. Kids took off their socks and it passed the ″sock test″ non of the mulch stuck to socks. it freshened up our play space tremendously. The green mulch was the perfect choice for us.

I hesitated a long time over the environmental impact before purchasing a rubber mulch product for my daughter's playground. But in the long run, nothing beats 4″ coverage = protection from a ten foot fall. The play set we inherited is over 12 feet tall, so maximum protection was a must. Although much cheaper per cubic foot, any other material (sand, gravel. bark mulch) would require a 12″ depth to give the same protection. And who wants to fall on sand or gravel? It would feel like falling on concrete! Although the color is a little too uniform to look natural, the rubber mulch feels soft underfoot and is easy to sit and walk on. It was very expensive, so I hope it lasts as long as they say it will and continues to function well. I was told the smell of old tires would dissipate after a day or two. It has been three weeks and it still smells, but it is not overpowering. Hopefully it will continue to fade over time. I would not use it for plants, but I think it is a pretty good choice for home playground.
