  Great for a Backyard Playground

We bought a house a few years ago that already had a nice playground installed in the backyard. When our child was old enough to use it, we realized that the rubber chips used for the surface were difficult to keep clean with the leaves and pine needles falling on the playground, plus the chips were becoming substandard as the landscape fabric was starting to show below. So we needed to figure out a way to clean the chips, buy more chips, or replace the surface. We decided to replace the chips with rubber tiles and are very happy with that decision. We used the 1″ tiles since it was a fairly small playground set and used all black tiles. The area covered was a little over 300 square feet and we used about 84 tiles. Perhaps the hardest part of the project was just removing all the rubber chips and cleaning the site. Installing the tiles with the playground set in place already was simple as the tiles are easy to cut with a utility knife and they are easy to place around existing equipment, measuring with a 2-foot square ruler. It took about 15 hours of work to install all the tiles over the course of two weekends, just doing it by myself. The dowels indeed were a little tricky to get all the tiles to match up well, but the slight grades in the surface also caused this. I think I got a good handle on installing the dowels after doing a few of them. I've only had the tiles installed for about a week, but I can already tell this surface is much easier to clean than the previous rubber chips. The leaves and pine needles blow off easily with my electric sweeper/blower and it's also easy to wash everything off with the hose. Now the ″scary″ part of the playground in the corner, where it was most dirty and you didn't know what was growing/living back there, isn't scary anymore. The surface is very sturdy and comfortable. I like that it's much more even than the rubber chips and less likely to trip/slip on. Our 2-year old really seems to like it! And I look forward to getting many years of use out of the playground with these new tiles!

The tiles are just what I expected. They look great and are easy to keep clean. They are easy to lay out, but they are a bit of a pain to connect together with the dowels. For now I just have them laid in place and I will gradually be adding the dowels. To prep the area we removed the grass, leveled and packed down the dirt, and laid down weed block fabric.

I bought the Safe-Play Rubber Tiles for an outdoor playground. I wanted to have an easy to maintain and safe area for a new playground in our backyard. The area was landscaped and countersunk 2.5″ so the tiles would go flush up against a mow strip. It took about 2 days for 2 of us to lay the tiles out and the hardest part was cutting around the play structure. The end result looks great, we have had rave reviews from all the kids and parents that come over for play dates.
  Very nice!!

We purchased this for a Make-A-Wish wish child's wish. He is unable to navigate on dirt/grass, so we put this under a Rainbow play set (another part of his wish). It is wonderful! The only problem we had with it is - it is very hard to install. We hammered, pushed, maneuvered, etc. but were never able to get it to fit snugly together. We hope it doesn't separate more, but as it sets, our wish child's wheelchair and gate trainer navigate well across it. We tried to find a tutorial on how to install it but the closest we got was a you tube tutorial on installation of the Jamboree tiles. We are thankful we have it. Delivery was very quick. It appears to be very durable! We think it was a good choice!!

I bought the 1″ tiles for a playground I am building in my yard - they arrived really quickly after I ordered them and in good condition. The assembly was difficult with the dowels and I was not able to get them to fit so that the tiles were flush with one another. The end product looks really good though and it worked out well enough. I might recommend getting the thicker tiles to eliminate the need for dowels and ease installation and layout

The tiles look nice now that they're in, but getting them there wasn't easy. The dowels went in easier with a little dish soap, but getting them to fit tightly without a 1/4″ gap was really hard. The dowels rip through the bottom of the tile easily so you have to be very careful, yet it needs a lot of muscle at the same time. We used them for an infant area at a preschool center and the parents and children are very excited now that it's done, but it was a hard process. I would recommend getting the thicker tile so you don't have to use the dowels.

This flooring was installed in the outside baby area of our child care center. After we figured out the best way to install it the job went smoothly. We did use a little bit of Vaseline to help the pegs fit into the holes for attaching the tiles together. It all looks very nice and our little ones are very happy to be outside.

The tiles are great and fit our needs perfectly. The blue is a very nice color, and the kids love it! Now they TRY to fall :) However, I do need to comment that the install with the connecting pegs was a bit tough, because they were hard to push together all the way - even with muscle! I guess I could have drilled the holes a bit bigger, but then you risk damaging the original hole and maybe making the connection too loose of a fit. A few of them did go together easily and were seamed perfectly, and those looked really good. As for cutting them - I tried using a jigsaw to cut the ones I needed to shape, but ended up doing it by hand with a box cutter and the serated bread knife as suggested. That was easy enough, but you'll definitely have a sore arm and sore knees after this project - but it's worth it to have such a nice ground covering over the cement area!

Something told me this past spring that it was time to get serious about a truly heavy-duty legitimate fall mat to place under the steps of our 7-foot pool slide. A few weeks later, 3-year old Mylo, our neighbor’s 11th child out of 11, christened that very mat. While sitting atop the slide for a moment he then just suddenly fell backwards toppling all the way down 7-feet to the mat below. It sickens me every time I think about it. Mylo cried due to such a scary fall & impact. But the only sign of injury was a slightly bloody nose! Before we knew it, Mylo was back on the slide! We now fondly call it our Mylo Miracle Mat! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for creating such a safety product.

I have installed these tiles in several locations. They are very uniform in size and color and install nicely. On my orders, they arrive in what I consider to be a reasonable time frame (2 weeks or less).

Kim Davis helped us purchase some safe play tiles for a Make-A-Wish child and I just wanted to thank her. I would like to send a picture of a very happy little boy, but don`t see that is possible. Simon (wish child), at the age of 10 is able to learn to walk on his gait trainer because he now has a flat surface in his yard to move around. Thank you for helping us to make this little boy`s with come true!!

We ordered these tiles to upgrade our existing fall zone. We cut into existing lawn and poured a cement pad prior to installation. The sample we ordered before was great to ensure we dug and poured to the correct depth. We have had many people comment on the great look of this product. The only complaint I got was from our maintenance team installing the product, saying they were not quite square or all the same size so it was difficult at times to make sure the seams lined up. I'm excited for our students to use this product everyday.
