Customer Questions

Don't see what you're looking for?
I want to use this on my deck so my dogs can feel like they are in the grass. Is that possible and how do I secure it?
vicki milby
Our Pre-Cut Turf Rolls are perfect for this application. The smaller mat sizes were picked for this purpose and will look and feel like real grass on your deck. To install our Pet Turf on a deck, you can either loose lay it, use double-sided tape, or you can glue it down. Typically people will just loose lay the turf so that they can clean under it periodically.
I want to put this down on dirt for my dogs. Do I need to put some type of material down first? With the drainage hole should I expect to have mud come up thru the holes if it rains?
Anonymous
If you are going to lay our Pet Turf Rolls down on dirt, we would recommend placing a weed barrier under the turf to keep any grass or weeds from growing under the turf. Mud will not come up through the perforations; water will flow through the turf and into the ground.
How often do you fasten the turf down with the nails? Also, how do you keep the nails from loosening and having one of your animals accidentally walking on them?
trent
When installing our Pet Turf Rolls, we recommend placing nails every 6 inches around the perimeter of the roll. The nails are driven into the turf and dirt and will essentially be hidden from sight by the turf blades. You won't have any issues with animals trying to loosen them or you accidentally walking on them.
I have received the sample I requested and like what I see. I am looking at covering a rectangular area for dogs approximately 14 X 60 feet. Do you have a recommended source for the staples or tape for joining the seams? Which is better for longer life? Also, I plan on using about 4 inches of compacted decomposed granite under the weed barrier for improved drainage. Any issues with that?
You can purchase the seam tape and staples through us for your install of our Pet Turf Rolls. The staples would be the easiest and the preferred way to seam out turf rolls. In regards to the compacted decomposed granite, you can use as much of that product as needed to create a flat hard surface for your turf to be installed over.
Can I lay over existing weedy lawn or do I have to remove? Also, I need to follow an uneven shape so how do you cut it to fit?
Barbara
You can install our Pet Turf Rolls over a weedy lawn, but we recommend removing the existing grass when installing out turf. This will help to properly seam the turf and also will give you the best look. To cut our artificial grass rolls, we recommend flipping the turf over in the area where you need to cut and cut the turf, backing side up, with a sharp utility knife.
Is it possible to order so the pet grass can arrive on a certain day?
mary
We can't guarantee when your flooring will deliver to you, but we can delay your shipment so that it can deliver close to the day you would like it to deliver. To do this, you will need to speak with one our Flooring Heroes, and they can further assist with this request.
Can I put pet grass over rocks?
Anonymous
We don't recommend installing our Pet Turf over rocks as they may tear into the turf, but customers have installed it over rocks with success. We recommend installing our pet turf over a flat hard surface such as concrete, ashphalt, or compacted crushed gravel.
Setting pet turf roll on concrete do I need an underlayment?
Harry Strohm
You do not need to install an underlay under our Pet Turf Rolls if you are placing them over concrete. The underlay would be a nice to have option to add more comfort underfoot.
Can this be installed on a concrete pad?
Robert Kepplinger
Our Pet Turf Rolls can be installed over any hard, flat surface so concrete would be perfect surface to install our turf on.
My yard goes downhill. Can I install on a downhill slope or does the land have to be level?
TS
You can install our Pet Turf Rolls on a slope. You would just follow the same install instructions that we provide for flat surfaces.
If you use your turf on concrete, does the urine pass through to the concrete?
Wilfredo Rios
If a dog were to urinate on the Pet Turf Rug, it would seep through the turf to the concrete below. We recommend not gluing the rug down and loose laying it or using double-sided tape to install so that you could periodically clean the subsurface from time to time. This will help to help to reduce any unsightly odors. If you do glue it, we do offer a range of products that help with reducing odors. Our Turf Fresh and Zeolite Max products are great for this and are safe for pets and very easy to use.
I would like to buy this for dog daycare and am looking for the best turf for daycare that I can clean easy and doesn't grow bacteria etc. How do you clean this if liquid drains through?
Meg Buchanan
Pet Turf Rugs are great for dog daycares. The dogs can pee or poo on our Pet Turf Rolls without it affecting the turf. For daycares, we recommend loose laying the rug or using double-sided tape to install instead of a permanent installation. If liquid drains through, simply pick up the rug and hose it down with water and use our Turf Fresh spray on the turf to remove unwanted odors.
how well will this hold up if my dog tries to dig through it?
SCOTT
If a dog were to dig at our Pet Turf Rugs, they would eventually be able to tear through it. Since the turf is not organic, in most instances the dog won't try to dig. These rugs are constructed to withstand even the toughest play, and even if a dog did try to dig from time to time, the turf would be able to handle it.
This may seem obvious but I am looking to lay this down in an area next my dog doghouse and teach her to use this for potty. Is this appropriate turf for pee and pop?
Carrie M Beckman
Absolutely! Our Pet Turf Rugs were designed for fur babies in the first place. They're the perfect turf for dogs to poo, pee, and play.
I am looking to get one piece 19 ft by 11.5 ft so as not to have seams and potential color differences, is that possible?
margaret
Since you're looking for a larger piece and don't want seams, we'd recommend you to look at our Pet Turf Rolls instead. It is the same product, but comes in bigger sizes and hence larger, continuous rolls so they won't have seams or color differences.
How would I go about sealing this on top of pea-gravel?
Angelica Grover-Hampton
For any artificial turf, we recommend installing them over a solid base. Pea gravel may slide from underneath, leading to a non-stable turf.
How does the Pet Turf stand up to dogs who scratch the ground if they go potty? I have a little dog that does that in a big way and I am curious. Thank you
Viv
If a dog were to scratch at our Pet Turf Rugs, they would eventually be able to tear through it. Since the turf is not organic, in most instances the dog won't try to scratch. These rugs are constructed to withstand even the toughest play, and even if a dog did try to scratch from time to time, the turf would be able to handle it.
How long does this product last? Is there a warranty?
Lisa Tomson
Pet Turf Rugs will last you years! This turf is covered under a 15-year limited warranty. Please see the "Warranty" tab on the product page for detailed warranty information.
I am curious, is this a suitable product for a dog to regularly go to the bathroom on? I have a very muddy yard and I am looking for a product that my dog can use as an outside potty place. Thank you!
Emily
Yes, these rugs can be used as a regular potty/pee area. The rug is perforated for drainage, so any liquid would pass through easily, and any solid material can be picked up from the surface.
Does this get hot in the summertime under full sun?
Tami McKnight
All of our turf, including our Pet Turf Rugs, get hot in direct sunlight. But don't fret; there are a few ways to keep your turf cool. One way is with infill. We offer many infills that help keep your turf cool, and the best performers at this are our Durafill, Hydrochill, and Zeolite Max infills. The best out of these three would be the Hydrochill. It can keep your turf 30-50 degrees cooler than standard rubber infill. The next way to keep your turf cool is to water it during the hottest parts of the day. When you water your turf, the moisture will evaporate, helping to keep the turf cool for a period of time. The last suggestion we have to keep your turf cool is to shade it. Placing umbrellas and other shade aides helps to keep the turf cooler than in direct sunlight.
