is the floor suitable for slightly uneven surfaces
brad toth
It is best that the subfloor surface be as even as possible so that the tiles stay snapped together.
Trying to order all pieces at once. How would I know which to order - male vs female end trim pieces?
Both edging will work depending on how the tiles are facing. Our flooring designer will let you know exactly what to order based on your dimensions. You can also customize which side you want edges on. The flooring designer can be found directly under the main image on the product page.

Composite decking tiles can be installed over wood and any other surface that is densely compacted and level.
can tiles be installed over GEO GRID or TRUEGRID . These are honey comb gravel stabilizing products typically used in gravel drive way applications. I am installing a patio with foot traffic only
Bruce
The surface underneath the tiles needs to be dense enough and level enough to not allow the tiles to sink in/become unaligned.
How heavy an item can be placed on the tiles before the plastic connector base breaks? I am hoping to put some large (3x3x3') planters filled with dirt and trees on the deck.
Isabel
The breaking point is about 2000 lbs.
How much is the gap between each individual slat and each individual tile?
Chuck
The gap between each slat is approx 4.5mm and the gap between each tile would vary from 3mm to 5mm, depending on how tightly they are interlocked.
Is Helios tile ok to install directly on EPDM flat roof? Any suggestions for decking on EPDM?
Lawrence Tuthill
Deck tiles are not recommended to be installed directly over EPDM roofing, as any sharp pieces underneath the floor could cause it to tear.
How do I cut composite deck tiles?
Anonymous
To cut composite deck tiles, you can use a sharp tile cutter or a hand saw.
How do I lay composite deck tiles?
Anonymous
Composite deck tiles are built with an interlocking system which allows them to be easily installed and interlocked to the tile on each side. It's like an easy to put together puzzle.
we tried walking on the IKEA version of this product and sounded hollow and loud (ikeas product seems cheaper made) does this muffle sound pretty well when walking on it?
Outdoor deck tiles can make noise when walked on. You can lessen noise by adding an underlayment beneath the tiles.
When the floor is completed, can water penetrate through when it rains? If so, what do you recommend underneath to prevent that?
Vincent Sica
These do allow for drainage so that rain does not stay on top of the tiles. The rain would just go underneath the tiles and eventually evaporate.
Hi, can these tiles be installed on a concrete patio? and do they need to install/put anything between tiles and concrete?
Rabia Hussain
These tiles can be easily installed on a concrete patio and would not need anything between the tiles and concrete.
Are the Helios Composite Deck Tiles non-combustible?
Allen
These tiles have not been tested for this.
Is there edging/trim available for this product?
We do not currently have edging.
Can the 4-slat tiles be installed perpendicularly or solely in a parallel manner and, if so, still allow for the installation of edge and corner pieces?
Fred
Yes, the Helios Deck Tiles can be installed perpendicularly. The edge and corner pieces can still be installed.
Are there end pieces available? If not, how do you lay to have finished edge? Thank you.

Can these be installed over older deck boards?
Our Helios Deck Tiles (4 Slat) can be installed over any surface that is densely compacted and level. Can these be installed over 2" of crusher fines? Or more/less depth recommended?
For best results, we recommend installing these tiles over concrete to ensure they stay interlocked and do not sink into any softer subfloor surface. Composite deck tiles are recommended to be used over a densely compacted and level surface to avoid potentially sinking in.

Good morning, I am trying to find the best composite deck tiles for my balcony which will generate the least amount of static electricity. This will be in place year round in upstate NY. Can any comment on this?
Kimberly Skiba
In general, composite decking material creates static. However, we have not had complaints regarding static on our Helios Deck Tiles. One option would be to apply an anti-static liquid on the tiles.

I am entertaining the idea of putting these tiles on concrete steps. Is there any way to glue them down so that they stay put? They would be in the direct southern Arizona sun for several hours a day. Thanks.
Joan
We do not recommend using these tiles on stairs since we currently do not offer stair trims for using these tiles on stairs. These tiles are interlocked together and the weight of the tiles keeps them put on the floor.

Composite decking tiles generally tiles are heat resistant in the sense that they won't get extremely hot, but will get warm when exposed to heat or higher temperatures.
