Hello, what's the difference between 8mm Strong Rubber Tile and the 8mm Dura Lock Rubber Tile?
Structurally there are no major differences between the 8mm Dura Lock Rubber Tiles and the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles. They both also come in corner, border, and center tiles. The only real difference are the color offerings. The Dura Lock Rubber Tiles are available in more colors.
What thickness do you recommend for a home CrossFit gym to be laid on a concrete slab garage floor?
Tim Hancock
For CrossFit exercises or any Olympic lifting, we recommend going with the 1/2" or 3/4" thickness in our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles.
Are the tiles cut with water jetting?
Sam
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles come both water jet cut and stamped. 1/4", 8mm, 3/8", and 1/2" tiles are stamped, while the 3/4" tiles are water jet cut.
Do Dura Lock and garage tiles lock together? I want to convert half of my garage into a gym and keep the other for my car.
Josefina
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles only interlock with other Dura Lock Rubber Tiles. They will not interlock with any of our garage tiles.
Can the interlocking rubber tiles be installed on a balcony (with no roof)?
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles can be installed on a balcony outdoors. These rubber tiles are weather resistant and are very slip-resistant, even more so when wet. They are very easy to clean and maintain and are resistant to mold and mildew growth. The only thing you will notice is that in direct sunlight, they will fade a bit. Other than that, these interlocking rubber tiles are perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.
Looking to use the mat for a weapons cleaning room. Solvents, oils, and such will get on the mats. Will they hold up to heavy use, and will they repeal the solvents, oils used in cleaning weapons? Thank you for your time
Keith
The one thing that will affect our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles is oil. You can use these rubber tiles in this space, but you will need to protect the tiles from oil. Oils react with the binder in the flooring, causing the floor to breakdown over time. If there are certain areas where the oil will be used, you can place a mat over the tiles in the specific area. The other solution would be to clean up any oil as quickly as possible to help prevent damage to your flooring. For these areas, we typically would recommend using our Flex Tile products like our Smooth Flex Nitro Tiles or our Coin Flex Nitro Tiles. These tiles provide comfort underfoot and are resistant to oils and solvents.
If I install this in the garage and occasionally park my car where water may drip, are there concerns for mold or moisture to form between the interlocking seams?
Theo
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles are mold and mildew resistant, so there would be no concern there. The only concern that we would have is with any potential oil dripping from your vehicle. Oil can cause the flooring to breakdown over time. To prevent this, we recommend placing one of our Nitro Rolls in the area you park your car. This will ensure that your floor keeps looking great for a very long time.
Are these a full 24"x24" when interlocked? I am comparing it to the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles that are 23"x23" interlocked. My room is right at 12'x12,' and I'd much rather not have to make cuts and order extra tiles if it proves unnecessary.
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles, when interlocked, are 23.5" x 23.5".
Hi, are the Dura Lock Rubber Tiles vulcanized rubber?
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles are not vulcanized.
Can these be used for plyometric workouts?
Roxy
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles can be used for plyometric workouts, but they are not the ideal floor for these types of workouts. Our most optimal floors for plyometric workouts are the floors that we offer on our High Impact Flooring page. These floors have been designed to provide optimal shock absorption when working out to protect your joints.
If I install these directly on a concrete floor, will they eventually dry out and crack?
Kelby Thoreson
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles will not dry out or crack if installed over a concrete subfloor. Concrete subfloors are the preferred substrate for our rubber flooring.
Will these tiles support the weight of a car in a garage, and would the thickness make any difference in the longevity of a car being on it?
The one thing that will affect our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles is oil. You can use these rubber tiles in this space, but you will need to protect the tiles from oil. Do the tiles lock together securely? Will they stay locked during heavy aerobic activity
Eddie
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles can be used for plyometric workouts, but they are not the ideal floor for these types of workouts. Can interlocking rubber tiles be installed in a van? The metal floor has a ribbed surface? Any tips?
Joe
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles and all of our rubber tiles and flooring, in general, can be installed in a van or any other vehicle and have. Typically what people will do if the vehicle's floor is not flat, they will place 1/4" plywood boards down to create a hard flat surface. You then just interlock the tiles together and cut them to fit. No glue or tape is needed.
Is this floor suitable for a midsized professional woodshop? Will it hold up to daily use and pallet jack/cart use?
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles can be used as flooring in a woodshop. Our rubber tiles are very durable and would be able to handle a pallet jack or cart over them.
Do these rubber tiles have a smell? Sometimes rubber has a strong smell.
ryan
Our Dura Lock Rubber Tiles do have a rubber smell to them. We recommend mopping the rubber tiles with a mild soap and water solution if you are sensitive to smells. We also recommend placing the tiles in a well-ventilated area to let them air dry. This process may need to be done a few times to mitigate the smell truly.
Do you need to seal the seams of these tiles?
Sarah Thompson
We don't recommend using any glue with any of our rubber tiles. All of our rubber tiles have very tight interlocks, which will make the floor appear virtually seamless. Our Seam Sealer Glue should only be used in installations where a person is looking for a waterproof installation. They would use both our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer and our Seam Sealer Glue to accomplish this.
