Customer Questions

Don't see what you're looking for?
I have a dance studio in the basement of my house and we have berber carpeting there. I teach a north Indian classical dance with heavy footwork like tap. I am thinking about replacing the flooring in the studio. However, can this wood dance roll be added on top of the berber?
Ivy S
These rolls should be installed over a flat, dense surface like a plywood subfloor. You could lay plywood first then put the roll on top of that as an option.
Can this be installed over tile...?
This should be fine. If you have thick grout lines they may need to be leveled out so that it doesn't telegraph or you could put a layer of plywood between the tile and the rolls.
Would this hold up to weightlifting gear and activities? E.g. having a squat rack, dumbbell racks, etc on it
Jason
These Wood Floor Rolls are designed for dance and won't hold up the impacts of weightlifting gear or activities. If you are looking for a flooring solution for squat racks, dumbell racks, or any other weightlifting exercise, I recommend our 1/2" Mega Rubber Rolls, which can be found here https://www.flooringinc.com/rubber-roll/heavy-duty-roll.html.
We have a dance troupe asking about using our space for practices and we have this type of roll out flooring in our space. How will it hold up to use with tap shoes? We realize it is not an optimal surface.
Sean
The roll would hold up since there is a wear layer but you may likely see scuffing or marking since the shoes are hard soled. The roll will still perform but may become less attractive visually over time.
Can this be used well in a home gym for yoga, etc..:I’m wanting a hardwood look with a softer feel.
Jen
Our Wood Dance rolls are perfect for home gym / yoga use.
I have a concrete floor. Do you recommend 3/8" high density foam underlayment for this flooring, similar to normal Marley floors, or is the underlayment not needed/recommended with this product?
Alan
You can use the roll on it's own or put down further underlayment if you'd like, depending on your needs.
Can wood dance rolls be installed over bedroom carpet?
No, you will need a level, sturdy subfloor underneath.
Does it need to be taped down or will it unroll and lie flat on a wood floor?
Jennifer
For safety it would be best to tape the rolls down. If they do not immediately lay flat, you can help tp flatten them out by using weights in the corners and leaving in place for a day or two.
Can this be installed over concrete ?
Yes, that would be acceptable.
Can dress shoes and high heels be used on these floors?
Yes, the top surface is durable vinyl that will be fine underneath high heels and dress shoes.
Can you tell me if this dance roll releases VOCs?
Emily

Here is further information: Indoor Air Quality Certified to SCS-EC10.3-2014 v4.0 Conforms to the CDPH/EHLB Standard Method v1.2-2017 (California Section 01350), effective April 1, 2017, for the school classroom and private office parameters when modeled as Flooring. Measured Concentration of Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC): Less than/equal to 0.5 mg/m3 (in compliance with CDPH/EHLB Standard Method v1.2-2017)
Can this be moved, or does it lay permanently once it’s been taped down? I share space and need flooring that can be rolled back up after practice.
You can roll this floor back up if you tape our Wood Dance Rolls down. These dance rolls are pretty heavy, so you may need a few people to help you move them, but you can roll them back up. If you would like a lighter roll, we suggest going with one of our Marley Dance Floor Rolls. They are lighter and easier to manage.
Can this product be used outdoors on top of grass? I am searching for a reusable dance floor for outdoor events.
TC
Our Wood Dance Rolls can be installed outdoors, but we wouldn't recommend them as a temporary dance floor over grass. We would recommend using our 3' x 3' Practice Dance Floor or our Practice Dance Tiles for that type of use. These will provide a solid surface that will make dancing possible. Our Wood Dance Rolls would be great over any hard flat surface, like concrete or compacted gravel.
What solution should I use for my wood dance roll floor? Just installed.
Treena Burton-Bernstein
Cleaning our Wood Dance Rolls is very easy. For large dirt and debris, you can sweep or vacuum the floor to remove it. For any stuck on dirt and debris, you would just mop the dance floor with a mild soap and water solution. We recommend using a mop with a synthetic mop head.
How do the rolls of floor fit together? Do you need glue, tape, etc?
Chelsea Speer
Our Wood Dance Rolls lay flat under their weight. If they do not immediately lay flat, you can help to flatten them out by using weights in the corners and leaving them in place for a day or two. To secure the rolls further, we recommend using double-sided carpet tape to fasten the rolls to the floor securely.
Hello, This is very random but do you think this floor would withstand a beer keg being dropped on it? I produce an Oktoberfest event and want to roll kegs across this floor for keg bowling. I want to make sure that this is not to the break or crack with kegs falling on it. It also needs to be hard enough to roll a keg across it. Thanks!
These Wood Floor Rolls are designed for dance and won't hold up the impacts of kegs being dropped on them. If you are looking for a flooring solution that will withstand heavy drops, I recommend our 1/2" Mega Rubber Rolls, which can be found here https://www.flooringinc.com/rubber-roll/heavy-duty-roll.html.
Do you need a vapor barrier between concrete and this flooring or can it lay right on concrete?
Amy
When laying down our Wood Dance Rolls you can use the roll on its own or put down further underlayment if you'd like, depending on your needs.
