I am installing courage carpet pad in a small room--it has a wood floor. Should I use staples? if yes, what size and kind?

The padding can be either stapled or glued directly to the subfloor. If you choose to staple the padding to the subfloor, staple it every six inches.
Can this go directly over a concrete basement floor and then have carpet put on top?

Is this compatible with radiant floor heating?

We would not recommend using heating underneath this carpet padding. The padding is very dense and may prevent the heat from the radiant heating system from reaching your room.
Can carpet tiles be used over this padding?

Typically no, carpet tiles would have a different recommendation for underlayment, if any at all.
Can I buy this to put under a 9 by 6 rug?

Yes, this could be used for cushion under a rug, however, it will not provide the non-slip features of a traditional rug pad.
Can this be used under a rubber gym flooring?

This refers to the density of a carpet pad refers in terms of weight in pounds per cubic foot. The density you choose depends upon your specific needs. The denser it is, the longer and better the pad will hold up.
