We have a 14' 8" x 11' bedroom that we are using as an exercise room. The floor is a medium nap carpet over carpet pad and cement. We want rubber flooring on a 13' x 8' section for a workout area. We will have a 400 lb Peloton treadmill sitting on it and a Bowflex strength machine. The rest of the area will be for yoga, Zumba, weights, etc. Will 3/8" be thick enough not to flex underfoot when we work out?
Our 3/8" Pre Cut Heavy Duty Rubber Rolls can be installed over carpet as long as that carpet is a low pile or commercial carpet. The rolls can still be placed over a high pile carpet, but due to the carpet pad underneath, you may get separation of the rolls which can cause a tripping hazard. We do have a couple of solutions to prevent separation. You can add a 1/4" plywood board over your carpet to prevent the separation, or you could go with one of our thick rubber tiles. The number one used over carpet with a thick pad is our 1" Monster Rubber Tiles.
