Has anyone used these in the desert southwest? I am thinking of replacing a grassy area with these. I am worried about how hot they get in the sun.

These tiles are made from recycled tires, so they will endure heat well, and also have similar heat properties in the sun - they will get warm. You can always run the hose over them to cool them off in the summer heat.
