We're thinking of converting most of our 15' by 11' guest room into a home gym. We will not have any heavy equipment in there, probably a small rack of weights and a bench (we're still sorting this part out). We both are looking for a firm surface to stretch on. The main problem this moment is, we put down wall-to-wall wool carpeting in there 2 years ago. What will happens if we put your mats on top of the carpet? Also, can you recommend a mat thickness?
If installing our Eco-Flec Rolls over carpet with a thick pad, we would recommend placing 1/4" thick plywood boards over the carpet. This will help to prevent and separation that would occur when the pad depresses and will also protect your carpet. For added protection for your carpet, you can add a plastic sheet under the plywood. If you are just using the floor for stretching, we would recommend going with either our 1/4" thick or 8mm thick Eco-Flec rolls.
