We have an area with cement pavers we want to replace. A small patio area outside. Underneath the cement pavers there is just dirt. Do we need to put something for a "base" under these? Gravel? Landscaping material? Or can we just put them over the dirt?

For best results, we recommend placing the tiles over a solid, flat surface such as concrete, but these tiles can be installed virtually anywhere as a temporary solution. Using a material such as crushed or decomposed granite as a base will provide more longevity as it will provide a source of drainage under the tiles. You can, however, install our Naturesort Deck Tiles (4 Slat) directly on the dirt temporarily.
