1) Will the carpet tolerate moving heavy desks (once in place they'll stay place a long time (years)? 2) Can any sort of pad be used under the tile? 3) If I use pressure sensitive adhesive do I have to "encapsulate" any old adhesive and if so, what product?
This is a commercial grade product that will tolerate moving furniture. We do not recommend using a pad with carpet tile products. If extra cushion is desired we recommend using a dense underlayment such as rubber. Leftover adhesive should not be a problem.
