Is 3/8" or 1/2" rubber flooring better for a home gym, installed over a concrete floor? It will be mostly floor exercise and machines such as treadmills and ellipticals.
All of our rubber thicknesses are good for home gyms. For most home gyms where no heavy weight is being dropped, we recommend going with our 8mm thickness. For gyms where some heavy weights will be dropped, we suggest going with our 3/8" rubber. This is the most common thickness found in commercial gyms. Our 1/2" thickness is typical for anyone who is wanting to do any Olympic lifting. This will ensure that when weights are dropped from overhead, the subfloor won't be damaged. All thicknesses of our rubber flooring will be able to handle heavy weight equipment with ease.
