Can the prostep dance floor use directly on the hardwood floor or if it needs the subfloor pad? This is for ballet and pointe shoes.

You can certainly use this directly on hardwood. If you find you'd prefer a subfloor pad we would recommend our Flat Top Dance Tiles.
