I am planning on installing the ½ inch rubber rolls in a 12 x 18 home gym. The gym will be in the basement, and the rubber is being installed on concrete. I notice one q&A indicated the rubber performs best over carpet? Should I install carpet first? Carpet padding? Or smoother underlayment? Please advise.
Our 1/2" Mega Rubber Rolls can be installed over any type of flat hard surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, plywood, and the like. Our rubber rolls truly perform the best when installed over concrete as this is a hard flat surface that is very easy to install over. You can install our rubber rolls over commercial grade carpet, and it will perform just as well over any other hard flat surface. The only surface that can be a little tricky to install over is plush residential carpet with a thick pad. Here you would just have to be mindful that the flooring may separate and could cause a tripping hazard. But to iterate here, carpet it not needed under our rubber flooring, just a hard flat surface.
